After capturing a murder on her camera, photographer Amy Baker becomes the next target — but her identical twin is killed instead. Now on the run with her sister’s newborn, Amy has only one person to turn to — Detective Keith Young, her childhood crush. But when they discover Keith is the baby’s father, can he regain Amy’s trust to keep them safe…before the killer strikes again?
Mills & Boon Love Inspired Suspense — Courage. Danger. Faith.
Award-winning, bestselling author Sami Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn’t until her 30’s that she found authors that captured her attention. Now, most evenings, you can find her engrossed in a Romantic Suspense. In her opinion, a crime and a little romance is the recipe for a great story.
She lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.

Amy Baker has always felt inferior to her twin sister, Stacey. With her feelings of insecurity, she has a hard time believing that her secret crush, Keith Young, would ever choose her over her sister. Especially after she finds out about what had happened between Keith and Stacey. It will take a lot of love and forgiveness to see them reconcile and discover love. But, nothing like near death experiences to cause both of them to realize their feelings for each other.
I didn’t figure out the mystery of who was out to silence Amy for a death she had witnessed. I was happy to be surprised that it was someone I hadn’t expected. I thought the motive was a bit weak for the original murder, but I enjoyed the story overall.
Thank you to the author and publisher for a copy of the book. I was not expected to write a positive review. All opinions are my own. 3.5/5 stars
TWIN MURDER MIX-UP by Sami A. Abrams is the 2nd book in the Deputies of Anderson County series. It’s the fast paced story of Amy Baker and Detective Keith Young where the suspense will have you quickly turning pages from the very get go.
Amy Baker’s life dramatically just a few short months ago. Amy’s occupation as a professional landscape photographer had her out one day trying to capture that money shot overlooking Eagle Lake. While scanning the cliffs, she witnessed and photographed someone shooting a woman and that woman tumbling off the cliff. She rushed from the scene frantic to get to the safety of her home. While Amy was upstairs calling 911, her identical twin sister Stacey took her car, to run an errand they had previously talked about. An event that Amy will always regret. Her twin was murdered when the person from the cliff thought she was the one that had witnessed the murder. Her parents are dead, now her sister is dead, and her best friend hadn’t returned any of her messages in months. All alone, she was thankful when the Eagle Bay Police Detective Jefferies believed her and offers his help. She ends up taking his advice of taking her sister’s infant son, Carter, some belongings and cash using another last name and moving out of town trying to be invisible while he tried to figured things out.
Amy gets a frantic call from Jefferies telling her to “get out of town”, hears shots and the phone goes dead. Thankfully because of Jefferies advice, she had kept extra clothes and money in the trunk of her car. But where to go? Who to turn to? She has no choice but to try to reach her best friend AGAIN. She frantically calls Anderson County Sheriff Detective Keith Young in Valley Springs.
Ashamed of a bad decision – a mistake made one night while under the influence of alcohol with the wrong twin, Keith hasn’t been able to face Amy, the woman he’s always dreams of being with someday. He knows if she knew that she would never forgive him. He knows he can’t forgive himself. But hearing the panic in her voice, he knows he can’t/won’t turn his back on her now. He rushes to her arriving just as someone attempts to take her life. Amy is battered and bruised, but not dead. He is determined to find justice for Stacey and defend Amy with his life. Will it be enough?
Why was Amy’s 911 call never recorded or sent to the proper department? What secret is Keith hiding? Will an off handed comment by his Dad, let the cat out of the bag? Will the Valley Springs sheriff’s department be able to keep Amy safe – even with repeated attempts on her life? Why does the perpetrator always seem to be right behind them and at times seem to be ahead of them? How much of a battering can a body take or will repeated attempts at murder beat them down? Will the love and affection that Amy and Keith have had as dear friends die with the revealed facts or will they learn to handle the truth and move forward? Is Carter the glue to hold everything together giving them time to heal and forgive? Who was the person on the cliff and will they find out who it is before they succeed is keeping them quiet – forever.
TWIN MURDER MIX-UP is a fabulously suspenseful and will have you trying to figure out who mistakenly killed Stacey, the identical twin sister, and is out to rectify that by repeatedly trying to kill Amy. Sami A. Abrams has an inspirational thread woven into the story that shows us that we all can be prone to making mistakes. Asking for forgiveness is hard, but forgiving yourself can be even harder. We learn that the desire for justice and struggle for survival are both strong motivators and that with God by our side that we can endure anything. TWIN MURDER MIX-UP is a great suspense store that will have your adrenaline flowing and you turning pages as your try to figure out whodunit. You will be hoping for love to win out as one sweet little smiling baby boy wraps himself around your heart. An ending that will make you happily sigh and leave a great big smile on your face. Although part of the series, TWIN MURDER MIX-UP can definitely be read as a standalone book. It definitely gets my FIVE STARS!
The author sent me a copy of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.
Twin Murder Mix-up by Sami A Abrams gives readers more action and suspense than they can handle! Amy Baker finds her life turned upside down when her twin is murdered, and Amy has to take care of her nephew. But Amy knows that the murderer had targeted her, and her sister was just collateral damage. Amy witnessed a murder, and now someone wants to silence her. Amy turns to police detective Keith Young, her childhood friend, for help. But secrets drive them apart.
This story has so many twists and turns plus plenty of secrets that kept me hooked. Danger lurks on every page. But the characters are memorable. Keith has to reconcile his past actions, while Amy struggles with her feelings for Keith and whether or not she can trust him with her future. The romance blends nicely with the suspense.
If you are looking for a great romantic suspense story, be sure to check out Twin Murder Mix-up.
I received an ebook review copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Twin Murder Mix-Up by Sami A. Abrams is book #2 in Deputies of Anderson County series. Amy Baker is on the run along with her baby nephew after she witnessed a murder while out taking photographs. Unfortunately, the murderer mistakenly killed her twin sister instead. Desperate she calls her best childhood friend Deputy Keith Young. He ghosted her a year ago, but she has no one else to turn to. Keith messed up big time last year when he and Stacy made a mistake after celebrating her promotion. He hasn’t talked to Amy because he knows she will see right through him, but now she’s calling him for help. He’ll help keep her and her baby alive no matter what. Then he discovers that her baby Carter is actually his and Stacy’s son. He’s a dad. Will Amy ever be able to forgive him after what they have done? Will they be able to discover who is after Amy? It’s a roller coaster ride, but you’ll be glad you got on in the end.
Keith and Amy really have a lot to figure out. They don’t know who is after Amy. Amy is hurting after realizing that Carter is Keith’s son. Keith is hurting because he let Amy down and he thinks he is now unworthy of love. While all these thoughts and feelings are swirling the killer is getting closer to finally killing the right twin. It seems no matter what they do, the killer is right there to make an attempt on her life. I love how despite the threats, they still have special moments. Moments with each other. Moments with baby Carter. Moments with their friends and family. It’s a very suspenseful story where everyone is trying to keep Amy alive while trying to figure out their identity, but there is a sweet gentle love story brewing beneath the surface. A story of romantic love and a story of a father’s love. You’ll also be happy to know that there is an epilogue and it made me tear up! This is a great Christian suspense novel that will keep you guessing until the end. I hope you take the time to read it! I know I can’t wait until we get a book about the sheriff of Anderson County.
This novel starts with an exciting scene. Abrams then adds enough back story we know someone is after Amy. There is a good deal of suspense as the novel continues but the emphasis in Abrams' writing style is on character relationships. Important scenes are permeated with character thought and relationship interaction. There is much character rumination after each event.
I found Amy a difficult character to like. She repeatedly acted in such a way that got her into a suspenseful situation. She even self describes her actions as stupid. (2096/2979) The same happens when Keith and Amy act together. After being shot at one more time, Keith admits he hadn't been thinking and they'd blown it. (1285/2979) I prefer suspense because the villain outwits the heroes, not because the heroes do stupid things. Except for that, I liked this novel.
This is a romantic suspense for readers who like an emphasis on character thought and interaction and don't mind the heroes repeatedly getting themselves into trouble through their own actions.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Thank you to Sami A. Abrams for my ARC. This is my honest review.
The book follows Amy Baker and Detective Keith Young. Amy witnessed a murder and someone want's her dead. Amy calls 911 to report the murder. Amy does not realize her sister Stacey borrows her car while she's on the phone. The murderer mistakenly kills Stacey. Amy is left running for her life with the baby Stacey left behind. The murderer will not stop until the evidence is gone. Amy calls her childhood friend Keith for help. Keith agrees to help Amy and the baby. Amy does not realize her sister and Keith had a secret. One bad decision led to Stacey getting pregnant. Stacey never told Keith or Amy who the father was. Keith has since become a Christian and regrets his mistake. He and Amy soon discover he's the baby's father. The book is a race to protect Amy and the baby from the killer. Amy and Keith work through the issues of hurt, betrayal and forgiveness. There is a good mix of suspense and romance.
Twin Murder Mix up is book two in the Deputies of Anderson County series that is written by Sami A. Abrams. This is part of the Love Inspired Line. If you’ve not checked out this author, your missing out. She writes such heart pounding, action packed suspenseful stories that will keep you guessing until the very end.
This is Deputy Keith Young’s story. We met him in book one. Fear not if you haven’t read it. There is enough back story. This can be read as a stand alone. Growing up Keith had two friends. Twins, Stacey and Amy. Amy is a photographer and she witnesses a murder and the murderer wants to make sure she doesn’t talk. However, Stacey who is in the military borrows Amy’s car and is murdered.
Amy is now the care taker of Stacey’s child and on the run. There isn’t many people she can trust and it seems when she finally relaxed someone makes an attempt on her life. So she goes to her home town and to Keith. Who has blown her off for over a year.
I absolutely love the Deputies of Anderson County. These characters that the author created feel like a close knit family. The entire team rises to the occasion to protect Amy. Factor in that it comes out that Keith is actually the babies father Amy feels like she made a mistake in coming home. Amy has always felt lesser then her twin.
This story is filled with so many twists and turns that I kept picking different suspects out. The author does a great job of keeping you on your toes. There is the subject of a night of celebration accompanied with a one night stand but the author handles it with grace and tact and with the reminder of God’s love and forgiveness.
The book is well written. I cannot wait until the next story comes out. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this story. All thoughts are my own.
What captured me about this story was the way I felt the heartbreak and pain that both Keith and Amy experienced throughout the story. I physically could feel my heart ache as each of them struggled with the reality that Keith and Stacey’s actions a year earlier had created not only Amy’s precious nephew, whom they both loved dearly, but had also created an emotional chasm between the two of them that would be very difficult to cross.
The danger was intense and the suspense of who was behind the killings was captivating. I enjoyed watching the team try to sort through the clues. But what really drove the story for me was these two people who had both secretly loved each other for so long and now both felt as if there was no hope of them having a happily ever after. I felt so sad for Amy feeling as if she was always coming in second behind her sister and I felt for Keith as he struggled with the shame he carried over his actions with Stacey.
I loved the way the author drew me in and kept me on the edge of my seat regarding both the case and the attraction between these two. I am hoping there will be more in this series, perhaps a book for Dennis?
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Amy Baker is trying to find out who murdered her twin sister while taking care of her nephew and running from a killer. Deputy Keith Young can’t turn his back on Amy when she asks for his help. It will take both of them working together to get to the truth. This is an excellent, well written and well balanced story! Sami A. Abrams has woven together an intense, hard to put down Christian Romantic Suspense story that will keep the reader turning pages. Twists and turns that are unexpected make the storyline even more interesting. There’s a wonderful underlying thread of forgiveness and redemption that lets faith and hope shine through. I highly recommend this book! Thank you Sami A. Abrams and Love Inspired Suspense for the ARC of this book. I was asked only for an honest review. The opinions stated here are mine alone.
"Cool air blasted from the car vents. The AC struggled to stay ahead o fthe rising summer temperatures. Amy Baker maneuvered through the afternoon traffic, whispering a prayer for the millionth time that the person responsible for her sister's death hadn't discovered his mistake: he'd killed the wrong twin."
This opening paragraph to the book sets up a suspenseful story that does not stop until almost the end of the book. The action was plentiful, and the scenes were unpredictable. The culprit did keep me guessing as well.
I am really glad that Sami Abrams wrote a sequel to Buried Cold Case Secrets. Deputy Keith Baker is mentioned in that book and makes a great lead in this story. (I also look forward to reading the next book (Detecting Secrets) in the Deputies of Anderson County series. I have enjoyed the characters and am definitely curious about why the next main character acts the way that he does.) I always like getting to know characters in multiple books.
One thing I did not like was some of the repetition. One main character had made a mistake. A rather major one. This choice is mentioned over and over and over again. Raher than simply being an issue, it became a fixation and an obstacle. While by the end there was some resolution, I started to get annoyed.
Perhaps this is a trend for this publisher as I read another Love Inspired book with a similar overemphasis of a problem. Even though I liked the authors, this caused me to want to get past part of the story to find the conclusion. I may not be able to read as many LI books.
That being said, there were many redeeming qualities. I definitely enjoyed the characters. The mystery seemed plausible, and the situations seemed like that they could happen. I like how this story happens in a small town.
I did receive an advanced copy of this book. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own. Overall rating: 4.2 stars
I really enjoy romantic suspense stories by Sami A. Abrams. She has a knack for writing wonderful page turning stories!
Twin Murder Mix-Up is a well-written story of murder and suspense that kept me guessing until the end. It is punctuated with old friends wondering if they can be more, supportive co-worker friends who jump right in to help Detective Keith Young keep Amy Baker and baby Carter safe. Amy had been out photographing nature when she witnessed a murder. Her twin sister is killed by mistake.
"When had her life become a series of tragedies? First her parents, then her twin sister and now the man who'd risked his life to keep her safe. When would it end?"
"Amy prayed Keith didn't get himself killed because of her. She wouldn't survive if she was responsible for someone else's death."
"I refuse to be your second choice."
Will she let her lack of self confidence, and will he let his shame derail their chance at love?
Thank you so much to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed it, and recommend it to fans of romantic suspense, and Love Inspired Suspense!
What a fun read! This one was really exciting with someone after Amy and her infant nephew. There are several suspects and trying to figure the who and why made for an interesting read. The storyline between Amy and Keith was super. I liked that they had a history, and the end was adorable. I pretty much devoured this one! Really enjoyed!
I received this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Amy Baker finds herself on the run with her nephew after her twin sister is murdered. Amy witness a murder and apparently the killer mistaken her sister for her and now they are after her. No one can seem to help her. Only one police officer came to help her but after he disappears she finds herself alone . After almost being killed she decides to reach out to an old childhood friend for help. Keith Young is a police offer and he may can help her . Problem is they have been out of touch with each other after he and her sister betrayed her. Can she put all of this aside and accept Keith's help before she is killed. This is a good book with plenty of action . Lots of twists and turns as Keith and Amy fight to stay alive.
There were two inconsistencies in this book. The book said Melanie and Jason were engaged, then it said they were married. However, a wedding did not take place during the book. The second one is in regards to when the the book takes place. Carter was born New Years Day and he was 4 months old. Thus the book cannot take place in summer even though it says it does.
I have quickly become a fan of Sami A. Abrams's writing. Her current Love Inspired Suspense release is Twin Murder Mix-Up, which is due out in September and it is the second book in her "Deputies of Anderson County" series. The first in the series is Buried Cold Case Secrets and you can read my review here. Both books are excellent and can be read as stand-alone books.
This book is the story of photographer Amy Baker and Detective Keith Young. While shooting some pictures in nature, Amy captures a murder on camera. The murderer sees her and while trying to kill her they kill her twin sister instead. Amy grabs her sister's baby and takes off running. The only person she can think of to run to is her childhood crush, Keith Young.
Amy's twin, Stacey, never told Amy who the father of her baby was and the reader doesn't find out until later in the book. It is a shock that can possibly end Amy and Keith's relationship.
I loved the characters in this book as they are very well-created and believable. I loved the progression of Amy and Keith's relationship while they were running for their lives. They battled through hurt feelings, feelings of betrayal, and then the sweet feeling of forgiveness.
I highly recommend Twin Murder Mix-Up to anyone who enjoys good romantic suspense. I also recommend keeping an eye out for more books by this author.
I give this book 5 Stars!
I would like to thank the author, Sami A. Abrams, for my copy of Twin Murder Mix-Up. I received my copy for free with no expectation of a positive or negative review. The opinions are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR. Part 255.
This story is a wonderful example of how God uses all of our decisions for our good. Even our mistakes can be used for our good depending on the Lord's plan for our life. Detective Keith Young grew up with 2 best friends, twins, Amy & Stacy. They always knew they could count on one another no matter what. But a year ago that changed after making one drunken mistake. He had always loved Amy, he knew when they were kids that he wanted to marry her but he did not think she would forgive him if she knew what had happened with Stacy a year ago so he withdrew. He stopped communicating with both twins & when Stacy was killed 3 months ago she kept calling Keith because she needed him. But he did not respond. When Stacy was killed 3 months ago, Amy knew that she had been killed (by mistake) because she ( Amy ) had witnessed a murder while taking photos of the cliff and the lake at Eagle Bay. As a photographer Amy was always taking photos around her hometown. With Stacy's death, Amy became the guardian of Stacy's 1 month old son, Carter. Detective Jeffries was investigating the murder and did everything he could to keep Amy & Carter safe, right up until the day he was murdered and left in Amy's hotel room. So she said a prayer and called Keith again. Thankfully he answered.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. A case of mistaken identity gets the wrong sister killed. Amy Baker is a landscape photographer who captures a murder on camera. She has painted a target on her back. Someone mistakenly kills Amy's twin sister, Stacey. Amy takes Stacey's son, Carter, on the run. She feels she can trust no one. Her very best childhood friend and crush, Keith, is tasked with protecting her. Emotions run high for both Amy and Keith as they battle their personal demons from their past. This is an incredibly fast-paced action plotline which will leave you gritting your teeth as you battle with them. Sami Abrams is a very talented writer who will pull you into the story and into the characters' lives to the point where you will live in the book until you finish it! This is a wonderful mystery with an inspirational message of forgiveness and love. It is also a satisfying read for those who love a romantic suspense with loads of intrigue along with tension between the hero and heroine.
What a ride! This book hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. It's full of action, drama, suspense and romance. It has just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. If you enjoy a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, grab this book! I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Twin Murder Mix Up is the second installment from the Deputies of Anderson County series by Sami A Abrams. I really enjoy the first book of the series, Buried Cold Case Secrets and was excited to have the opportunity to read this one. I thought it was a pretty read that mystery, action, adventure, suspense and romance. I could not predict what was going to happen next. I liked it and had no problem reading it in one sitting.
Twin Murder Mix Up will be getting four and a half stars. I believe lovers of clean romantic suspense will want to read this one. I look forward to reading to book three from the Deputies of Anderson County series.
I received a digital copy of Twin Murder Mix Up from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Get ready for a rollercoaster ride when you read this book! From the first page, "Get out of town now!" to the thrilling conclusion, Sami Abrams keeps you on the edge of your seat. This story has it all - compelling characters, a plot that keeps you trying to figure out who the bad guy is, and lots of twists and turns until the very end. One of the things I enjoyed the most was the friendship between Keith and his fellow officers. They not only did their jobs but went above and beyond to help a friend. If you like mystery/suspense, with a touch of romance, this book is for you. I received an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.
Sami A Abrams books are irresistible and almost impossible to put down. This is book two in the series but stands alone very well. Amy has always felt overshadowed by her twin sister who was larger than life. Her sister’s death leaves her raising her sister’s baby as her own. After seeing a crime take place she has been in the crosshairs of someone who wants her dead. You will be kept guessing throughout the book? Buried Cold Case Secrets is book one. It was her first book but you would never believe it. She writes like a pro!
I received this book as an ARC. There was no indictation when I received this book that a positive review was to occur. What a fabulous story. I was on the edge of my seat with the twists and turns. I love the story of Keith and Amy. You can never outrun your past without forgiveness and confession. This is a must read.
I enjoyed this book, as it involves twins... I loved the main character, Amy, whose twin sister was murdered. Amy is now on the run with her sister's baby and turns to an old friend for help. The book has all the usual gooeyness and danger, but as it's about twins, I felt this one was a little less predictable. I enjoy this series a lot, as they make for sweet, short reads.
Sami came through with a great story for Keith, who we met in book one Buried Cold Case Secrets, as Detective Jason Coopers partner. One of Keith Young's childhood best friends, Amy Baker, is on the run after someone kills her identical twin, Stacey, on accident. Amy, a photographer, had witnessed a murder and captured it on camera while out taking photographs for the gallery where she sells them. The murder realized that they were seen and followed Amy to her car, but she sped off before the killer could off her too. Later when the murderer sees Stacey in Amy's car, they think it is Amy and kill Stacey. Amy turns to Keith to keep her and Stacey's 4 month old son, Carter, safe. No one knows who Carter's father is, but it is discovered that is is Keith. With Amy's trust in him shattered, Keith, has to work on winning it back, so he can keep his son and best friend safe. This book is great, but don't take my word for it, find out for yourself when you snag a copy of it today.
Thank you in advance to the author, Sami A. Abrams, for providing a complimentary review copy through her Crime Scene review group. A positive review was not required nor requested, and all words are my own.
Abrams follows up a stellar debut with an action-packed, pulse-pounding follow-up.
Those who’ve read the first book have already met Detective Keith Young. If you haven’t read it – I HIGHLY recommend reading it before this one. Three characters from the previous book return – Detective Jason Cooper, Dr. Melanie Hutton, and Sheriff Dennis Monroe. And, I’m fairly certain there are others as well.
And, speaking of Keith – in my review for Cold Case Buried Secrets, I said I wanted a story about him – and here he is. So, obviously wanting his story since the debut book eight (8) months ago – I was definitely reading this!
As of note, that book isn’t listed as an official “book #1”. According to the author, there was something about a contract for either one book or the series hadn’t been “formed”. Either way – this is indeed the second book.
Most sophomore or second books don’t quite stack up to the first. This? Definitely stands on its own.
The cover isn’t quite as grisly or creepy as the first book, but this cover is ominous and drew me right in.
Abrams introduces Amy Baker to the series. She, and her twin Stacy, knew Keith growing up. And, obviously, there was a dalliance between Stacey and Keith which led to little Carter.
Moving from there …
Amy is heading to Valley Springs where Keith lives. She’s currently the guardian of her nephew Carter. Her twin sister, mistaken for Amy, was killed after Amy photographed a murder.
Despite reporting it to the Eagle Bay police department, no one in the EBPD or Anderson County has investigated it, only Detective Trent Jefferies.
Amy doesn’t even make it before she’s run off the road – thankfully Keith is there. Though, there is a problem – he’s been ghosting her for over a year. He has his reasons, but she is angry over it. She even tried calling him about the murder she witnessed.
She blames herself for getting Stacey killed. Keith assures her it isn’t her fault – which it wasn’t. Keith is reminded of the differences between the two – Amy was more sugar and Stacey was spice. Keith definitely preferred Amy.
There is no record of her call to EBPD or any transfer of information to Anderson County. Keith definitely wants to know what is going. He learns that Carter is Stacey’s son – no father listed.
Jason informs Keith about the break-in with Amy’s car. Whoever is after her is desperate and looking for something.
Things take a turn when Detective Jefferies is found dead in Amy’s hotel resulting in Keith taking her and Carter in. That re-opens the wound for Amy when Keith’s father connects the dots between Keith and Carter. Amy learns the truth when she looks at the papers Stacey left for her.
There is little time to reconcile their feelings – Amy in feeling betrayed by her sister and Keith, and Keith in wanting to tell Amy the truth. Amy is also left wondering how she fits into Carter’s life – his mom or his aunt. Keith and Amy have to figure out who is after them after learning the why – the SD card with the photos from the cliff.
The photos reveal who the person was – a connection to a prominent citizen of Valley Springs. What’s even more interesting – Keith and Amy stumble upon remains – remains of someone who is supposedly alive, and obviously killed. Thus, putting a mole in either the EBPD or ACSO.
Abrams has readers guessing up until the end (okay, with 10% to go) with no breadcrumbs or clues as to who did it or why. And, the connection? Didn’t see it coming. That was definitely a wild plot point.
Twin Murder Mix-Up starts off with action and doesn’t relent in this “can’t stop reading it until it’s over” book. It is intense with fires and shootings, fast-paced, and an unpredictable plot that never loses momentum. I seriously had someone else pegged for the killer.
At one point I was wondering why Amy didn’t back up her photos until a “reveal”. And, again – Abrams had me wondering about the sheriff. I do hope he gets a good story somewhere … and soon. I’m getting tired of pegging him as “the one”.
I absolutely loved the way the team came together for Keith and Amy after every incident. The “family” dynamic wasn’t saccharine sweet, but it was heartwarming. There are a few elements of humor but nothing that is out of place.
The only character issue I had was Amy’s incessant problem with Keith choosing Stacey over her. She ran that into the ground and irritated me over it. It was like “girl, just talk to the guy, get the truth” and, I also wanted to say “your sister is just as guilty, if not more so because she knew how you felt”. Obviously to get the happy ending, it gets resolved.
There is a teeny unresolved issue for me – who was using the victim’s phone to send text messages with? And, what was the result of the GPS search for the phone? Either I read it so fast and missed it, or it wasn’t there.
This is one book that is high up on a re-read list for me.
As it is part of the Love Inspired/Love Inspired Suspense line, there will be some references to faith in it. This is not a main part of the story, but the characters own traits.
I’m looking forward to the third book in the series.
Those who enjoyed the first book will definitely want to read this one. Fans of Darlene L. Turner, Lynette Eason, and Elizabeth Goddard will want to add Sami A. Abrams to that list.
The second book in Deputies of Anderson County series involves Keith from the first book,”Buried Cold Case Secrets” and Amy Baker who photographed a murder and becomes the next target. Sami is a fantastic writer and you will not be disappointed!
Edge of your seat suspense. You never know what’s going to happen next. I loved the characters and felt drawn into the story with them. I loved the way the author keeps you guessing, and wondering if the killer is going to catch Amy. Very well written, I didn’t want to put it down! Highly recommend this one!
