This is a very comprehensive guide to all aspects of vegetable growing at home from what to choose and plant and when, to when to harvest and what problems may arise. Hessayon even covers shop bought vegetables in terms of where they originate and what they can be used for just in case you were wondering. I can saafely say though that I'll be leaving vegetable growing to the more enthusiastic among us as it is a lot more work than you realise!

Old school classic. This may not yet have achieved retro status but it's still a great staple for the gardening shelf in your bookcase.
Everything you'd want in an easy, straightforward style that doesn't leave much for amateur gardeners to blunder over.
Invaluable even if it is unfashionable.
