AJ's mounting frustration could turn her into a ticking time bomb, and she knows the first step to solving her problems is to gain acceptance from her mother. Easier said than done. Her relationship with her mother goes from bad to worse when AJ's new green-haired boyfriend knocks on the door. She knows she'll have to clean up her guy if she wants to earn Mom's respect. I'm loving this series... Tara West has an amazing ability to pull you into her story.. And man does she understand teenage girls.. As the mother of a 14 year old I find this book easy to relate to with much of what the author has written is both believable and realistic.. This book #2 in the Series is entered around AJ..
AJ is a typical teen with mum issues, family issues, boy issues.. Basically she is going through what every teenager does. Add to this her gift.. But thankfully she has her BFF's I won't go into details..
A great read with awesome characters a storyline that flowed really well and left me wanting more..

While I thought AJ was a bit of a bully in the previous book, her side of the story really comes into focus and we get to see WHY she is the way that she is. Things go way deeper than they look on the surface, for sure, and we begin to get a sense that the girls having powers is a lot bigger than just the 3 of them hiding themselves from the rest of the world. The young teen romance is cheesy like it is always is, but there is something nice about the innocence of it all.

Sophie's Secret

[...] 3 friends with unusual abilities: seeing/talking to the dead, an oracle of sorts and a mind reader. This series –pack– will deliver each view and their drama. Sophie's the mind reader and a young girl with blossoming powers. Her drama will become annoying at some point but it was a nice kinda message in the world of teenagers: deal with emotional, family and scholar drama. And the most important: acceptance. Obviously, there will be romance and other friendships. But be ready to deal with incomplete love triangle and the school hottie bitch.

Don't Tell Mother

[...] an emotional roller coaster to our toughest girl, AJ. Her insecurities and drama will come full force and the reasons behind some fights will come to light.
You are used to our Sophie, the mind reader; AJ, the psychic; and Krysta the ghost whisperer. Now it's time to meet two other characters with amazing abilities as well: granny and mommy. But until this wreck of abilities come to light expect teen drama at absurd proportions. And teen love, obviously.

Krista's Curse

[...] We will finally take a step forward into seeing Krysta's life as a ghost whisperer. She has a lot to learn and many turn to make in order to accept herself in full, and to finally stare at death differently. Obviously, there will be tons of dead people roaming around her, but this couple and a murdered victim will weight heavier on her. But her alive life is just as busy. And to not lose the thrill of teenage drama: do expect a very difficult relationship start to blossom.

Who’s your book boyfriend? Bob. Who doesn’t need a Bob, he’s quirky, exciting, a bit edgy, hangs out with the fringe crowd, enjoys alternative styles and a bit of green hair or whatever suits his fancy at the moment. Oh, and he’s totally off the market. Ya see, he has a thing for AJ our main character who I personally adore. She doesn’t worry about whether her socks match her nail polish, is a bit competitive, enjoys a spot of basketball (she is the team captain btw), a little rough around the edges, intimidating and has an overbearing control freak mother that makes the Team Captain AJ always feel like she’s in second place.

In the Whisper series 3 girls who couldn’t be more different, are thrown together by the circumstance of their special abilities and become fast friends. After all, who else are you going to confide in when you can read minds, or see ghosts or in AJ’s case have prophetic dreams? This book follows AJ as she hopes to discover and save the unfortunate person in her latest dream before it’s too late…

Bottom Line, if you love paranormal YA this series is a must read!

We've all had issues when we were growing up when we feel like one sibling gets more attention, gets away with more etc. But in AJ's case it certainly seems true. On top of this she has to deal with dreams that always come true and now a dream of someone dying but she doesn't actually know who.

Now AJ is one of the three that I didn't get with much in Book 1 as she came across as quite bolshey but this book tells her story with style. You learn about, and can then empathise with, AJ and her issues. She is so much more than just a "jock" but through this book she learns about herself and the relationship she has with her teammates, peers and people in general.

This book continues the journey started with Sophie and you understand not only more about AJ but the trio in general. Loving this series. Highly recommended to all Young Adult/Paranormal genre readers.

Read months ago. Not a fan of Teen Angst at all (or really most YA books)....fyi. But this book has magic in it, no real magic. That is with a 'c' and not a 'k'. If you can get past the "Teen Angst" then you will probably like it. The protagonist has got some issues, which of course leads to more "Teen Angst".

Good clean read, no major plot blunders and good grammar. If this looks similar (it is) to my review of book one, then you get a silver star for noticing.

Absolutely a new fan on this amazing author. I fell in love with the characters of this series and love how despite their differences with their families and upbringings, this trio has bonded over their extraordinary differences. I purchased the first 3 books in a box set and look forward to reading the rest of the books. In this 2nd book Don't tell mother, AJ learns alot about herself and how her tough girl image may not be the best approach to making friends. She meets a great guy and learns to like him for who he is and not to change him because of the opinions of others. AJ also grows closer to her mother and learns that she is not the only "different" one in the family despite her mother's attempts to have everyone conform to her normal standards.

Absolutely enjoyed reading about AJ's story! Having a secret power is another hardship on top of being a teenager in general. She and her mother constantly knock heads as AJ is unable to tell her mother about her power. Soon enough she has no choice but to tell her mother. As mom laughs off her daughter's ridiculous idea, AJ must find a way for her to listen. Her brother's life depends on it.

Will AJ be able to convince her mom? Why would her mother jeopardize her son's life? Dive into book two as we discover more about AJ, her family and her friends~

Don't Tell Mother is Book 2 in Tara West's Whispers series. This book focuses on AJ and we finally get to see what is really going on with AJ and her mother and the reason behind it. Since this is a YA genre book, it is not as long as most novels, but the perfect length for this genre. The plot moves nicely and it is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. The ending leaves you wanting more and helps to transition from this book to the next in the series, Krysta's Curse.

Don't Tell Mother is extends on the trials that three teens must go through to understand their powers. This is also done while trying to live a normal teenage life. Sophia, Krysta and AJ are easy to love.

AJ is a tomboy and a good athlete, she also is an angry young woman who borders on being a bully. Growing into her powers, unearthing some secrets, learning some lessons, is what growing up is all about. Not my favorite read from this author but not a bad read.
