Baby Come Back

Rate this book
Molly Meredith is happy with her lot in life. She has a thoughtful, considerate husband in Joe, a house spectacularly decorated with her creative curtain making skills, and a gorgeous baby son, Eddie, who is considered cute and adorable by absolutely everyone he meets. Everyone, that is, except his father. For Joe has never come to terms with the fact that he has been adopted, and the arrival of his son just serves to rekindle painful memories. His reaction is to shut him out, and pretend that Eddie doesn't exist. Molly is understandably upset but is equally determined to do something about it. The key to their happiness, she decides, is the woman who gave him away all those years ago. When Molly finally tracks her down, she is shocked to discover who Joe's mother really is. Stella Milton is the intellectual sexpot of the British stage, an actress whose picture has adorned many an adolescent boy's bedroom. Joe is overjoyed at finally being acquainted, and for a while it seems that Molly's plan has worked. But then Joe starts spending more and more time with his mother, and less and less with his wife and son.

Juba vale aeg - südatalv - sellise imalamaigulise naisteka lugemiseks.

Molly and Joe and their baby son are one happy family.there is only one thing that could cloud their happiness.Joe was adopted and still doesn't know who his biological parents are.this distresses joe.my friend recommended this book I hadn't heard of Maeve haran before there are so many new authors out there and I'm really looking forward to reading more authors that I haven't heard or read before.i think Joe's adoptive mum could have been more supportive and sympathetic but I guess some people aren't lucky to have family who are supportive.i did feel sorry for the adoptive parents as they had raised Joe as if he was there own flesh and blood it must have been so difficult for the adoptive parents to come to terms with Joe wanting to find out about his biological mum

Molly helps her husband find his birth mother, but it doesn't quite go to plan. I didn't enjoy this one as much as some of her others. The characters were not quite believable.

Molly and Joe and her little baby son are one happy family. There is only one thing that cloud their happyness: Joe was adopted and still doesn't know who is birth mother is - something that distresses him.

Molly wants to do him a favour and starts searching for this long lost mother - and is succesful. Joe's mother is the famous actress Stella Milton. Surprisingly she is very happy about the reunion with her son after 25 years and claims her place in his life. Something Molly isn't too happy about, 'cause now Joe doesn't have time for his own family anymore.

The story is likable, well written and nice chick-lit. But since I'm a very critic reader there are some (negative) things that took my attention.
* Stella was 24 when she gave Joe away; he is now 25 but she only 47!
* one reason why she gave him away was that she wanted to play a naked Julia - but after a pregnancy every woman (even the skinny ones) has a belly that does not disappear overnight or after only 3 weeks.
* Stellas old name was Amanda Lewis, but her mother's name is Beatrice Manners (so Lewis is not her maiden name) - when Molly meets an Anthony Lewis who knows Amanda she does not make the connection between their last names!! How stupid is that?

Was made into a German TV-movie (didn't watch it as they are usually very 'cheap')

But Molly Meredith wasn't the type to collapse for long. Looking on the bright side was her religion. If God had sent her a plague of locusts, Molly would have decided they were good for greenfly. p216

In the end, given that it was another glorious summer's day, she chose white linen trousers and a loose, flowing white silk top with a deep V, plus wildly expensive white trainers that had as much relationship to real running shoes as a Jaguar car has to the furry thing you find in the jungle. p155

YUCK! It was not so bad that I would have ditched it, but it was highly predictable.

Totally predictable ending, but a light chick-lit novel.
