“Brownies are household spirits, who do chores at night while humans sleep.” Fortunate those who have one; I certainly don’t… Does anyone know how can I get one?

Mythical creatures have always fascinated me since childhood. I read in time numerous myths from various cultures and I thought I was familiar with most of them, but this book proved me wrong and it’s not even complete. I mean, I know of many other creatures which are not mentioned here but it has far more which I have never heard about.

Although it is for children, I very much enjoyed it because, on one hand, it reminded me of many tales read when I was a child and on the other, I learned about some new fantastical beings. Plus, it is an enchantment to the eyes, for some of the illustrations are gorgeous, even if some not so, but overall, I had a lovely time dipping into it.

While their is a great variety of monsters with them mixing in the more popular ones like werewolves, dragons, and the Phoenix along with some ones that are rarely talked about like the Simurgh and the Nixies. But it does seem the book favors more Western creatures as their are more of those creatures then those from the more Eastern side. However I do like that it does mention similar creatures from around the world like talking about creatures similar to the unicorn. Also if the creature is featured in modern books or movies it does mention them and how they differ from their ancient counterparts.

I love this book, I love everything fantasy and mythological and this book has some great images and fascinating info. It's a must for any paranormal romance writer, plenty of food for the muse here!
