This is the second book I read from Ellen Rohr - he first being "Where did the money go?" It was given to me as an assignment from a current client. It offers sifted advice garnered from a myriad of other authors, such as Louis Hay, Stephen Covey, and Mark Victor Hansen. An interesting mix of Economics 101, Accounting, New Age, and self-help. The author believes in affirmations and divine intervention, as strongly as the concepts she presents in this book. In her own words: - 'When you confront how much your business really costs per year, per day, per hour, then you can set a realistic selling price'. - 'Think of a budget as a way to write down your goals and hold yourself accountable for them'. - '...markup and margin - two commonly misunderstood terms'. - 'Do what you love...but mind the money'. - '...go over every line of the financial reports until you are sure you understand them'.
I enjoyed reading it, from the introduction to the glossary.
Ellen is a gem. She is as genuine and giving as they come. After years of being in the home services and SUCCEEDING in it, she saw many in need of this book! Providing services to your community and knowing what to charge can feel intimidating. How do you know? Where do you start? I'll tell ya. Start here. Working long hours and not making any money, start here.
