Mary Engelbreit grew up studying the illustrations in the vintage storybooks of her mother’s childhood, and she developed a unique style that harkens back to those simpler times. Mary’s distinctive images have made her a celebrity to millions, who eagerly snap up gift items, calendars, books, fabrics, and more.
Mary’s New York Times bestselling The Night Before Christmas is part of the holiday tradition for families across the country. Other beloved additions to a child’s first bookshelf are her New York Times bestselling Mary Engelbreit's Mother Goose and Mary Engelbreit's Nursery Tales, which are perfect companions to this volume.
This little book about tea by Mary Engelbreit is a delightful and whimsical blend of cheerful illustrations, photographs all about the magic of sitting down and taking tea. She offers some fun ideas, recipes, and inspiration on making your tea parties or events entertaining and educational. This is a nice addition to your tea library.
I was given this book as a gift from a very good friend over twenty years ago. She and I shared a mutual love for tea and enjoyed going to this wonderful British tea shop in Colorado Springs. In addition, I used to collect Mary Engelbreit miniature ornaments.
This book is full of ideas for giving tea parties for children or special occasions. Additionally, the author provides a comprehensive overview of the various types of tea, including black, oolong, green, and herbal.
Also, I appreciated the beautiful illustrations and pictures both the author and photographer contributed.
Finally, I loved the tea quotes in fact, here are a few of my favorites:
"You're going out for tea today, be careful what you do; let all accounts that I hear be pleasant ones of you."
"It feels so good to have a friend on whom you can depend. A friend can help to mend a heart, boost you toward a brand-new start, clown with carefree, schoolgirl glee, share a quiet cup of tea."

Engelbreit devotes one chapter to all the different kinds of tea available in the world, including Indian, Chinese, Kenyan, and Russian teas. She also includes a couple of pages on herbal teas. The next chapters give ideas for tea parties for children, for children's teddy bears, high and low teas, a wedding tea, outdoor tea parties. Intertwined with these parties are recipes, ideas for decorations, and ideas for collecting and displaying tea sets, whether full size or miniature. This book is more suited for teens and adults. The book is illustrated with photos and Engelbreit's signature paintings of children, adults, tea pots, and other things.
If it is a book on tea, I am going to read it, even if I am not a fan of the art. There is nothing wrong with Mary Engelbreit's style, it is skillfully done and cutesy, just not really my 'thing'.
The information on tea is very beginner level, and not particularly good. Though the tea party ideas are cute. Not really much to say, this book left no real impression on me other than 'meh'
Cute little book. I'm trying to learn more about teas since I suddenly despise coffee - post-pregnancy changes are funny like that! It's not very informative, but it has cute photos and illustrations.
