Living in the hills above Los Angeles, the last Unicorn has become tired of his existence, until he comes to the aid of Nancy del Rio, a teenager from the city's gang-ridden streets, and risks his life to teach her to believe in herself. Original.
This was a good fantasy book. I liked the account of Cortes in Mexico from the Unicorn's point of view. I also liked Nancy's interactions with her family and Karus, the Rider.
This had me enthralled. I love unicorn stories in general. Unfortunately there are far more dragon stories than unicorn. I loved the interweaving of stories and history. I loved "faith" and "innocence" and how they work with unicorns. I really hope ICE is not living up to INS' legacy although I have a feeling that it is.
