The Last Tree: A Seed of Hope

Rate this book

From the Sunday Times bestselling author of Together. Imagine a world without trees. A world that is in many ways like our world, but where magnificent canopies, tree climbing and leaves rustling in the breeze are now only distant memories.Until a young girl comes along, a girl who is brave and spirited and willing to follow where her imagination takes her. Through Olive's adventures in the world of trees we are reminded of nature's extraordinary power and beauty, and her actions ultimately sow the seeds of new life in her own world. From the mind and pen of bestselling author Luke Adam Hawker, The Last Tree is a powerful evocation of the fragility of our natural world and a magnificent celebration of its beauty.Praise for "An accurate and thoughtful account of one of the most challenging years in modern history." -The Guardian"Hawker's images always seem to have just the right mixture of gravitas and sly, understated humour." -The Scotsman

Now I will start with a confession I love trees - I grew up in a village where trees were everywhere and played a big part of your life from providing fire wood to keep you warm to provide fruit and shelter and even entertainment as children we would climb them.

So to read this book - was a sheer joy - it seems to be a theme at the moment o publishing stripped back picture books with a moral story - but I have to say after reading a few of them they are very good - this in particular was very thoughtful.

So yes enjoyed this books with its few works - especially when i was able to get a signed copy of it too

It takes 5-20mins to finish it, so you have no excuse saying you have no time to read it. It’s a book for all ages and hits home the environmental message beautifully. The illustrations are gorgeous and really enhance what could be a really basic book. I would recommend it especially if you see it in a local book store!

As a tree lover myself, I went to the bookshop looking for an encyclopedia on trees and how they communicate. And instead I came back home with this beautiful book. I say instead, but actually, it is a book about the importance of communicating with trees and how much there is to learn in nature.

Throughout the book, I kept marvelling upon the beautiful intricate illustrations. I think I would like to frame them all.

It's a gorgeous gift for someone you love or for yourself.

So schön gezeichnet.

Mijn man moet dan altijd om me lachen 😊

Hoopvol, prachtig geïllustreerd en een mooie boodschap 🌱

“The train brought them home, but books could take them anywhere they imagined.”

A beautiful and poetic illustrated book about a world without trees. This is a book that children, families, & artists will quickly devour. Hope lingers within the reader after finishing the novel— a seed of hope. I was truly blown away by the thoughts & details that went into this book. I really didn’t expect to be so moved, however, I was pleasantly surprised by The Last Tree’s impact on me. Luke Adam Hawker is an incredible artist and writer that was able to tell a story that all of us need to hear.

KURZMEINUNG

I had a lot of hope for The Last Tree, A Seed of Hope. The drawings are intricate and Hawker is definitely talented but the message was choppy and uninspiring. I am a lover of forests and trees and definitely find peace and solace in them. I cannot imagine a world without trees and feel gut punched when swaths of land are reduced to cement and buildings. I should love this story. I don’t.

Hab absolut nichts empfunden beim Lesen, was super schade ist…

akşamları işten eve dönerken ormanlık yerden geçiyor bindiğim taşıtlar, ağaçların ve göğün güzelliğine hayran kalıyorum o vakitlerde. kitap aklıma o anları getirdi.

fazla ne diyebilirim bilmiyorum, çok güzeldi.
