This is a comprehensive book about makeup techniques and skills, you can tell that Hannah Martin shared a lot of her expertise in this book. Although a lot of the info was stuff I already knew, I still found that I was able to get some takeaways and learn tips I never heard before. I think this book is also very valuable at the time of reading it, just because she has a lot of product recommendations that are available in the present day. The book is very text heavy, but Martin’s writing style is very casual so it feels like she’s talking to you or you’re having a conversation, which made it a bit easier to digest at times. There were other times in the book where I found the writing style to be a bit wordy or distracting. Throughout the book she has multiple disclaimers that her advice is subjective and you can still wear makeup however you like and don’t need to follow rules — which is great, but a bit repetitive after the 4th time. I would have liked to see more detailed diagrams regarding makeup placement on the face, and illustrations about different brush shapes. Overall this is a solid, detailed and informative book (border lining on dense) about makeup products and placement that I recommend to makeup wearers of all levels.
