Les 100 Lieux de la Géopolitique

Rate this book

I just finnished the book so I could write a review. Probably one of my most difficult readings despite being an interesting topic and just 150 pages long (an amazing feat). Every page is a pain in the neck, half of the information you can just find it in any book about the topic, and the other half is written in an attempt at elaborate writing that is just crappy. It reduces a 100 extremely complex problems into a a few catchy lines and an incredibly narrow and simplistic view of how countries and other geopolitical entities work, disregarding so many key elements.

I’m not a political expert and I guess the book is probably written with a more divulgative intention, but even so, it is a bad book. Its like reading badly written summaries of wikipedia. If you are interested in geopolitics, and want a basic book to begin with go to “prisioners of geography” or “why nations fail”, or something of that sort, not this book. I dont know why 6 people were needed to write this. Awkward and dull.

Very interesting and helpful book that works as an introduction to geopolitics. Although a bit outdated nowadays it can still be helpful to understand today’s world and major political positions.
