I read this as a kid and recently re-read it as an adult. There are a few things that I feel like may not be written in books now that may not have aged well, (written in 1989), but the overall story still broke my heart and I sobbed like a baby. A huge topic addressed to a younger reading age. Excellent read. Just as impactful as I remember it being. It's the first book that I ever cried reading.

Why does the description here say that she's in preschool? She's in elementary school, I believe. I read this years ago when I was in school and it was amazing. It's such a powerful book with a lot of emotions.

This book has so much meaning, so much honesty, so much feelings. Amy and Robbie are brother and sister. Robbie teased Amy but, he loved her very much and she loved him. Then Robbie gets very sick. Amy and her best friend hop on a train so they can sneak Amy and Robbie's dog Sam into the hospital so Robbie could see him. If you want to know how it all turns out, I recommend reading this book. I truly enjoyed reading this book!! Thank you Jen Cousineau for this book!!

You know what I hate? Children's books that talk about grownup stuff. Like your sister's period. Or how dad likes to watch mom run because she bounces.
I also hate books where parents belittle their children for being overweight.
