This book was illustrated in beautiful colored pencil. In my opinion colored pencils are one of the most wonderful tools you can use to bring a picture to life. The images were also very detailed and took up the entire page.
What makes this book stand out the most is that there are no words in it! There are only pictures that occupy every single page. This to me is very wonderful because that makes this book stand out when compared to other books. This book is most wonderful for the visual learner. Books that are very unique like this that catch the eye of a certain type of learner are very wonderful because everyone is different, and everyone learns differently. We all also look for different things in books that we tend to focus on more than others, so unique books like this are great because they can pertain to and focus more on the people that like that specific detail or feature about a book.
The images in this book lead you to believe that the story is about an alligator that gets a toothache from eating food. He then lies around the house until his friends come over. They realize what is wrong with Alligator and then bring a dentist to come over to Alligator’s house. The only problem is that Alligator doesn’t want the dentist in his house because his tooth hurts so bad that he doesn’t want the dentist to touch it. So, eventually his friends find a way to sneak the dentist in the house and get Alligator the help he needs.
With this book, since there are only pictures you could do a lesson and have the students write what they think is happening on each page. You could also have them could up with the words themselves as to what they think would go best with the story.
