Wishbone and David help Joe Talbot search for a jeweled watch that has been missing for twenty-five years, and try to keep the lake where Joe's father spent his boyhood summers from being developed.
Wishbone novels always make for fun, exciting reading, and this is no exception. This whodunit kept me guessing, as usual. The only downside is that Sam is completely absent, though she is mentioned once.
EDIT: I've shared my history with this franchise in previous reviews; if you're curious, go find them on my page. What I will say about this book is that it was more convoluted than some of the other Wishbone novels I've read, likely due to its "super" length. While this is typical fare for the literature-loving pooch's whodunits, that isn't a bad thing. Like Salty Dog and Stage Invader, this is one of the few Wishbone books in my local library system's collection. At this point, I wonder if there's any tie-in novels from the franchise I haven't read; if there are, I need to seek them out soon.
Joe helps solve two mysteries one that his dad Steve couldn't when he was Joe's age and one new one.
Joe found his dad's journal with a Tom Sawyer book rubber band to it and months later he goes too Lost Lake with David for a few days with his cousin. He is in search of the Talbot watch that his dad never found and Joe does with some great deductive clues.
There was the second mystery of who was sabotaging property on the lake. Turned out to be the son of one his dad's childhood friends wanting to make sure another set people didn't get the old house.
This was a great book and I really loved the TV show as a kid. Hope to read more of these.
