Hiebert Commentary

1 & 2 Thessalonians

Rate this book
This commentary’s wide application of the original Greek and the author’s confident use of other commentaries and studies make this a handy tool for pastors and other church leaders. Yet, this work is not so exhaustive that the layman cannot benefit from it.

This may be the best exegetical commentary on the Thessalonian epistles. Hiebert is conservative and sticks close to the biblical text. He is always worth consulting if he has written on the passage being studied. I wouldn't want to teach or preach 1 & 2 Thessalonians without this commentary. Highly recommended for the pastor and/or bible teacher.

I didn't pick up this commentary until I was halfway through 2 Thessalonians, but I wish I had picked it up earlier. In terms of content, Hiebert is followed very closely by MacArthur (which I already owned), so this commentary did not necessarily provide an additional perspective for me, but I was pleased with its level of detail, and it was nice to read another solid dispensational source.
