Tara Taylor Quinn began her love affair with Harlequin when she was fourteen years old and picked up a free promotional copy of a Harlequin Romance in a hometown grocery store. The relationship was solidified the year she was suspended from her high school typing class for hiding a Harlequin Romance behind the keys of her electric typewriter. Unaware that her instructor loomed close by, Ms. Quinn read blissfully on with one finger resting on the automatic repeating period key. She finished the book in the principal’s office. Forced to leave her romances in her locker after that, Ms. Quinn’s typing skills improved - a fact for which she is eternally grateful.
With over 80 original novels, published in more than twenty languages, Tara Taylor Quinn is a USA Today bestselling author with more than seven million copies sold. She is a winner of the 2008 National Reader's Choice Award, four time finalist for the RWA Rita Award, a finalist for the Reviewer’s Choice Award, the Bookseller’s Best Award, the Holt Medallion and appears regularly on the Waldenbooks bestsellers list. Ms. Quinn writes for Harlequin and MIRA Books. Reviewer, Cindy Penn, wordweaving.com says, “Amazing character development is the hallmark of author Tara Taylor Quinn’s work. Indeed, Taylor’s profound observations of human nature and intimate understanding of values and priorities lends extraordinary psychological depth to all her work.”

A good read, the slow realization of two best friends realizing they loved each other. I loved how much they knew one another, inside and out. However the secondary plot, a custody case involving a pregnant teen, started strong, but fizzled out by the novel's end. I might read more in this series, though.
First, the synopsis is off. Faced with a surprise after a night with too much wine, Megan and Danny -- two best-friends & child advocates who work for a nationwide firm -- have to make a sudden shift in their feelings about each other.
But it's an odd choice for the bulk of the story to be focused on the trials and tribulations of a pregnant teen fighting with her parents and not the mid-30 something main characters who have to confront their true feelings about each other when faced with imminent parenthood. A lot of story real estate is devoted to this side story at the expense the main characters. We don't really see them getting gobsmacked with the realization of how much they love each other.
Psychiatrist Megan, the main female character, is so busy analyzing everyone else -- especially their pregnant client -- that she almost doesn't realize her love for her best friend and business partner Danny. While he simply plays the field -- we're told. Thankfully this appears to be in the not-too-distant past, but it's something he lets his best friend/mother of his baby think is still going on. Ew. There's a great deal of telling and not showing.
I didn't find much to empathize with in these two characters and I'm not sure I liked them much.
Megan and Danny have been best friends since college and both work for Sierra’s Web. Megan is a psychiatrist and Danny is an attorney. They usually have connecting rooms in a hotel and get together after dinner to go over their notes on the case. But after one too many one night, they ended up in bed. This led to Megan getting pregnant. Both thought it would be the end of their friendship. They had been in love with one another but refused to admit it and said they were soulmates.
While talking to her teen client, Megan realized she had not been fair to Danny. She is ready to apologize when he knocks on her door and tells her he’s in love with her. She tells him she loves him too. He rephrases it and tells her he’s IN love with her. He realizes he’s always played around with women but was never serious with any because she was the woman for him and no other will do. She realizes she had been running from the truth that he was the only man for her. She asks him to marry her and Vegas, here they come!
