In the second Level 1 Ready-to-Read Graphics book about a mouse named Figgy and a rat named Boone, the friends discover a big wheel of cheese!
When Figgy and Boone find a big wheel of cheese, they try to push it up the hill to their house. They work together, but it keeps rolling down the hill. Then they get an idea to use teamwork—and sharing—to save the day!
Ready-to-Read Graphics books give readers the perfect introduction to the graphic novel format with easy-to-follow panels, speech bubbles with accessible vocabulary, and sequential storytelling that is spot-on for beginning readers. There’s even a how-to guide for reading graphic novels at the beginning of each book.
A mouse named Figgy and a rat named Boone are a fabulous duo. They love cheese; soft cheese for crackers, hard cheese for toast and scary cheese, RUN! Scary cheese is on the end of a mousetrap. What to do when they find a wheel of cheese bigger than they are. How to get it home.
They had quite an audience watching their attempts which all fail. I wondered why the onlookers didn’t offer to help. Anyway they finally get the idea to share the cheese getting it down to a manageable size to take home. That was a great idea!
Fun for the youngest readers ant the illustrations are top notch.
Figgy is hungry but they are out of cheese. When truck drives by and spills a big roll of cheese, the two mice try to figure out how to take it home.
A Ready-to-Read Graphics Level , The BIG Cheese is darling. Told mostly through the illustrations with lots of repeated words (especially the names Figgy and Boone) an early reader will love the story and feel super confident. AJ thought it was really funny and she recommends it to her friends.
Another great Ready to Read Graphics! I love this for younger readers who are interested in graphic novels, but are just in the beginning stages of independent reading.
The Big Cheese follows friends Figgy and Boone who both love cheese. Unfortunately, they're out of cheese when Figgy decides that cheese toast would make the perfect snack. What follows is a cute and fun journey of team work and sharing. The illustrations were great and I loved the dynamic between Figgy and Boone.
Ok, this book was obviously made for me. I am famous in my family for making up a song about cheese and singing it loudly in the shower. Figgy also has a cheese song and loves cheese. As Muellers, we are famous in the family for loving cheese. It's a very weird thing.
Anyway, the book is cute. I'm not quite sure it's beginning reader level even though it does well with repetition.
This series is a perfect way to start kiddos on graphic novels. The first two pages explore lain how to read the book in such a cute way. The characters are delightfully well drawn and the characters inviting. My favorite page is Boone’s note: When all else fails, try science. 🤣
