In the space between no longer and not yet, you still belong somewhere.
It catches most of us by surprise. Life is going along until suddenly we find ourselves at the crossroads of what was and what is yet to be. This in-between space of transition often keeps us awake at night, asking questions like What am I supposed to do now? and Why do I feel so lost and alone? If a new direction doesn't come, it can feel like you're stuck in a cycle of purposeless days.
Bestselling author and Bible teacher Nicki Koziarz asked those same questions. Changes were coming in multiple areas of her life, and she struggled to navigate through them. But Nicki discovered how to find direction for today by understanding the types of seasons a transition can bring.
In Your New Now, readers will study Moses's life through the perspective of four transition seasons he development, separation, cultivation, and finished. With practical advice, relatable stories, and biblical wisdom, this book will help
● Discern which transition season you're in and learn how to overcome its challenges ● Stop feeling lost in life by discovering where you belong on the road between what was and what will be ● Protect your future by learning to utilize Scripture to fight fears of the unknown
Transitions start with something ending, and waiting for a new beginning can be agonizing. But you can learn to be confident and optimistic, even when life feels like it's paused in an unfamiliar now.
Nicki Koziarz is a wife and mom to three girls plus a handful of barnyard babies. She is an inspirational author, Bible teacher, and speaker with Proverbs 31 Ministries. Nicki leads from her own brokenness that somehow God is making meaningful.
You know a book is gonna be good when you immediately start nodding your head in agreement and the tears start flowing. Not in a bad way, but in a “someone else gets me” way. Author Nicki Koziarz takes us on a journey through the life transitions of Moses; Development, Separation, Cultivation, and Finished. I took her online quiz and found I was mainly in a season of separation. I kinda already knew that, but to have a whole chapter dedicated to what it could be, and the reminder that we all face this season, and it was just that, a season and God has more coming, was the relief my soul needed. More importantly was the reminder this was a place of growth and that “I’m not lost, I’m learning the way.” Boom, shakalaka! If you’ve ever heard Nicki speak, then you’ll hear her through this entire book. Her authenticity shines through and I would say, this is her best book to date.
I read and worked through this book with a sweet girl at my church that was going through a divorce; a divorce she did not want and never saw coming. I thought this book would be great for her, but honestly, it was good for me too. We are all in different phases of life, but many involve some kind of transition or change that we are trying to work through and manage. This book broke those things down and correlated it to the life of Moses, which was a unique perspective. The author, Nicki Koziarz is also a beautiful, funny woman who makes things relatable.
Ever been in a season where you were starting a new job or opportunity? Or how about when the kids are grown and moved out of the house? You’re not alone. Everyone is in a season but might be in a different season then what you are going through. In this book, I’ve lined up Moses’s life next to what I’m calling the four seasons of transition…We’re using the word season because, as we just learned, change often takes time. Seldom do we change overnight or learn a lesson in a week. And seasons do eventually end. You will make it through all the changes life brings you…Fair warning, you may also find yourself in multiple seasons of transition at the same time. Nicki Koziarz In her new book, Your New Now by Nicki Koziarz, Nicki goes into detail the four different seasons we experience: Development, Separation, Cultivation and Finished. As she goes through each season, Nicki uses the story of Moses to help tell what each season looks like as well as using her own experiences in life to show how we can recognize and do to work through that particular season. When our reaction to transition becomes one of choosing to grow rather than needing to know, we become learners of life’s greatest lessons. Nicki Koziarz Each section of Your New Now deals with a season of transition. With each section we learn more about Moses and how a part of his life works into that season. Also there are ways to identify if you are experiencing that particular season. Nicki gives you a bit of homework to work through the season of transition you are in that moment. Each season comes with a free mini Bible study at the end of the section. Through the Bible, we get to study biblical heroes of faith and apply their victories, failures, and wisdom to our own struggles…There is power in that, because God is found in every story through the Scriptures, and every story in the Bible points to Jesus…Jesus is the only true and long-lasting answer to our soul’s deepest struggles. Nicki Koziarz What I love about Nicki’s book, is not only does she use Moses as a reference to explain the different seasons of transitions; she also uses her own life experiences to give examples of the transitions she went through. Somehow she has managed to bring it all together to praise Jesus and show us that He “is the only true and long-lasting answer to our soul’s deepest struggles”. I love how Jesus and the Lord is the center of her book. You Are Not Here Because You Are Lost…Feeling lost isn’t a location where we wait to be found; it’s a destination we need to be rescued from. Nicki Koziarz Are you feeling lost and not sure what season you are in now? In Your New Now, you can find your way to which transition you are in now and can help you understand it better. There is also a quiz in which you can take that tells you what season or seasons you might be in now. Check out the quick at: nickikoziarz.com/yournewnow I highly suggest getting this book, Your New Now by Nicki Koziarz, because it is such a great book to read as well as helpful to help understand the transitions we go though and to see us through to the other end of those seasons. What God is doing inwardly cannot always be displayed outwardly…God’s presence is the greatest thing you and I need in any season we are in…Jesus is a comforter, but He is also a challenger. In her warm and inviting way, Nicki Koziarz is a friend who sits beside you and speaks the truth your soul needs to hear. Your New Now was a right time and right place book for me to read in a season of major transition. I was feeling so lost after resigning from a job, and Nicki helped put words to the internal struggle I was feeling in this new season I found myself experiencing. God shifted my heart as I learned about the transitions in the life of Moses. You will learn how to discern which transition season you’re in and learn how to overcome its challenges; how to stop feeling lost in life by discovering where you belong on the road between what was and what will be; and how to protect your future by learning to utilize scripture to fight fears of the unknown. In this season of separation, I know God has me right where I am meant to be, and it has brought hope to see this season of transition in a new, Biblical way. This is a must-read book for anyone feeling the tension of change, experiencing restlessness or loss, and those believing in God to lead them step by step into a future full of hope.
Do you ever feel stuck, unsure, have major changes in your life you are dealing with, and/or like you are stuck in transition? Then this new book, Your New Now – Finding Strength and Wisdom When You Feel Stuck Where You Are by Nicki Koziarz, is a helpful book to read through. She provides a great explanation of four different seasons we go through, examples, and questions to consider through reading about Moses and his life.
I found this book helpful in dealing with a season I am going through and understanding different seasons of life I have dealt with in the past. Sometimes, these seasons are short, but other times, they can be years to fully transition through. As she states also; “Sometimes transition is ugly and sometimes it’s beautiful. but the fortunate thing is that even what starts ugly has the opportunity to end in beauty. Beauty for ashes. Joy for morning. Praise for heaviness.”
This is one of those books that you should take your time going through, as there is so much you can learn from life seasons and help you grow in your faith. It definitely would make a great book to read and go through with others. Something I enjoy doing, as you get so much more out of the book when you are discussing and sharing with others. She also offers some extra free worksheets on her website.
I have made many highlights throughout the book. Here are a few that I will share:
Fearing God more than we fear man means at the end of the day, we’re more concerned with how our Heavenly Father sees us than any earthy reflection can offer us. Acknowledge that this is a weird place of life, yes. But decide that you are going to grow, gain wisdom, and find the truth of what God needs you to see in this place. We either dwell in roots of destruction of choose to separate so that we grow into who God wants us to be. If we would just look a little closer at the ordinary, we might see God doing something miraculous we can’t explain. Intentions, if not followed through, can simply become an excuse. But we do not have to wait for a sign or wonder to believe that the name of God is enough. Part of cultivation with God is being willing to seek out answers to why we don’t understand things. But there also has to be a “because God did it or said it” resolve. Part of building a life on biblical Truth means that your values come from the Bible, not from what feels or sounds good based on the culture around us.
In Your New No, Nicki Koziarz explored how to navigate the in between seasons in our life. She explored Moses and how he went through the four seasons of transition: development, separation, cultivation, and finished. His story is the only other Biblical character other than Jesus that goes into great detail from birth to his death. She also provided helpful suggestion on discovering what transition you are currently in and there is a free assessment online for readers to complete. In the book, she shared how she has been married for 21 years and they have three children and are working to adopt two more. She explained how she dealt with in between seasons. She admitted the different times she felt lost in her life and how she managed the changes. She looked at how Moses was placed in the Nile River and how his parents had no idea what would become of his life. She shared how we need to look at the positive side of development and how this could allow us room to grow, process, and see our lives changed for the better.
I would recommend this awesome book about the different seasons and transitions in our life and how we can grow in each one. I immensely loved how she explored the life of Moses through all of the stages in his life. One of my favorite suggestions was in writing down three things that you have already developed. We can also look at the future and what areas we can improve and grow in and create us an action plan. I enjoyed reading about cultivating and how Moses struggled with his confidence and how we may also be feeling unqualified. All we must remember is that God’s name is enough and the most important belief to have. She also encouraged readers to pray to God on where we can be faithful to God today. There is also a study guide enclosed in the book. This was a helpful tool to dig deeper in the scope and message found in Moses’ story.
"I received this book free from the publisher, Bethany House/ Chosen for my honest review.”
Transition is just another word for change. Transitions can be hard to navigate, often bringing unexpected challenges and emotions we are not always prepared to face.
No matter how familiar the life of Moses may be, there are always new lessons to be learned. In her book, “Your New Now: Finding Strength and Wisdom When You Feel Stuck Where You Are”, Nicki Koziarz takes a fresh look at the life of Moses.
We are encouraged to look at Moses’ life through the perspective of transition, specifically the transitions he experienced over the course of his life. Moses experienced four seasons of transition:
Development. This season begins with a clearing out of the old so that new growth can occur. Separation. This is where we feel apart from what we always knew or were comfortable with. It can be a separation from something (job, church, state) or someone (spouse, children, friends). Cultivation. In this season, which can be exciting, opportunities to try or learn something new enters our lives. This can be a new job, setting a goal, or taking on a new aspect of ministry. Finished. This is the difference between quitting and ending well. It’s is acknowledging your job, or your role, is completed.
The book is both thought provoking and enjoyable. It is an easy read with a powerful message. Each section ends with a “mini Bible study” making this a book effective for both groups and individual use. There is something to be gleaned for everyone as we all will find ourselves in one season.
*** I received this book from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I always learn something new or thought-provoking when I pick up a book by Nicki Koziarz. I have wanted to read Your New Now: Finding Strength and Wisdom When You Feel Stuck Where You Are since it came out earlier this year.
(this book) It's about what we need to learn in the here and now. It's about finding strength, wisdom, and hope for the current space you find your soul settling into.
Your New Now: Finding Strength and Wisdom When You Feel Stuck Where You Are discusses the four transitional seasons in life. Koziarz has a quiz you can take to see which season (or seasons) you are currently in. She also lists several signs to help you identify each season. Taking the quiz before starting the book can help you to appreciate the information even more. Koziarz offers helpful suggestions on how to overcome the challenges each season presents.
Transitions in life don't have to break us, make us gain fifteen pounds of stress weight, or cause us to lose who we were before the transition hit.
Koziarz was speaking to my heart in this book. I am in several seasons of transition, and while it can feel lonely, it helps to know that others are walking through the season as well. Koziarz speaks with an authentic, conversational tone, making this an easy read.
This is the sentence that first grabbed me: "In the space between no longer and not yet, you still belong somewhere". Suddenly there was this whisper in my heart that God was not seeing me as a misfit, as "not enough". The "in between" times in my life don't mean that I've failed. Each season in our life matters, but that doesn't mean it has to stay forever. Throughout her book, Nikki keeps reminding us that some seasons end. That's to be expected. And new seasons come. That might scare us, but if we stop trying to control the whole process we will find that God is trustworthy, and that He has been and is working in us through it all. I appreciate, too, how she calls us to name that something is changing, moving. It can be tempting to push down & ignore all my feelings and wonderings. But acknowledging them and naming them leads to a freedom that leads to becoming more the person God is calling to come forth and be. Do you feel inadequate in the "in between" ?. You're not. And you're not alone and not without support and encouragement. I could feel a lot of that encouragement - and understanding - while reading Nikki's book. Her writing is like having a long conversation with a friend.
LOVE this book! Nicki Koziarz does an excellent job of explaining the main four transitions we all go through in life and how we can make the most of each transition. I also really liked the way she used the story of Moses in each transition to help explain them. I found myself highlighting and taking tons of notes. There are so many great “nuggets” that I want to remember. A few of my favorites are: “Fearing God more than we fear man means at the end of the day, we’re concerned with how our Heavenly Father sees us than any earthly reflection can offer us.” -from chapter two
“Truth is Truth! The God of Moses is the same God of today!” – from Ch. 8
“Finished seasons have the opportunity to leave us full of gratitude being proud of what was accomplished and looking back in satisfaction. But it doesn’t mean we won’t have some strong emotions and still look ahead wondering what is next.” – from Ch. 10
I love how she weaves the Bible story, her information about transitions and the reader’s personal experiences, making it immediately applicable. I whole-heartedly recommend Your New Now!
Your New Now by Nicki Koziarz is an excellent book sharing the four stages of change or transition in life. As in true Nicki author style, Nicki is real and shares her joys, struggles and everyday life in her book. Her writing is authentic and relatable for many women. After each transition that Nicki shares, there is a mini Bible study on Moses. This could be completed individually or as a group. This book is great for reading alone or could be shared with a group of friends. It could be completed as a low key Bible study.
Nicki also has excellent resources on her website to go along with the book. There are places to journal in the book. It is a great source for personal reflection of what transition you are in. I found myself relating, highlighting and filling in the spaces provided with self reflection. This book is relatable to women of all stages, although I found it more so relatable as I have experienced some of the same stages as Nicki. I highly recommend Your New Now by Nicki Koziarz. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I can't wait to share it with others! Such an encouragement.
In Your New Now, Nicki once again makes me feel as if she is sitting across from me at a table with a cup of coffee in hand as she speaks into my heart as only a friend can do. With her warm voice that instantly pulls you into the pages of her message about our transition seasons, I was once again amazed as she put into words how I had been feeling in my own season of separation. The unspoken fears, doubts, and wrestling with God over feeling lost, unseen, and stuck were erased as she transitioned my heart to a new place of finding encouragement and comfort in the message from the life of Moses. If you are finding yourself in a transition season in your life right now or just need help navigating a season where you feel lost or stuck, this book is for you. Find comfort in Your New Now as Nicki helps you open your heart to the possibility that all the hard things you are facing in your life currently are only for now and not forever and that God does have plans to use it all for His special purpose.
As soon as I heard the title of Nicki Koziarz’s new book “Your New Now: Finding Strength and Wisdom When You Feel Stuck Where You Are”, I knew that it would be the right book for me right now. I am a fan of her other books and Bible studies, and in the last couple of years, I have been seeking strength and wisdom during many challenging transitions. As I read Nicki’s descriptions of the four seasons of transition through the lens of the life of Moses, I could find practical ways to apply her advice and teachings. I found myself highlighting passages from the text knowing that they will be a great help to me as I continue to experience different seasons of transition in the future. I highly recommend “Your New Now”. Even if you are not currently in a season of transition, you will find the tips about a variety of topics including trusting God, recognizing the value of the present, navigating in between times, and finishing strong helpful. Special thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
This book has lead me to look back and assess on which stage of transition am I at the moment. Learning a lot about each stage and knowing where I am, now I can move on to the next season and start all over again feeling a bit more equipped and encouraged by the examples we found studying Moses' life side by side with these stages of transition. Nicki is such a good writer, simple and basic premise but she leads the reader to really dig deeper in God's Word. Thanks too Nicki for including the Bible Study at the end of every chapter, I love that!
Finding out that I am in the "finished" stage of transition season, I am reminded through this book that - "Becoming surrendered to a season that is finished doesn't mean we stop being available to be used by God" because "He (God) will keep using what we've got"!
I love what this book has taught me, and I would love you to dig into this too and find out how finding where you are in the transition stage can help you find strength and wisdom to keep going and not feel stuck so you can find "YOUR NEW NOW"!
I have read several of Nicki Koziarz's books and have done several of her studies as well, she always makes you feel like a friend sitting across the table sharing life with her. Her new book helped me see more clearly about what season of life I'm in now and the one I came out of. Since walking away from ministry several years ago and taking on caring for parents I felt somewhat lost and lonely in the in between. As I read Nicki's book I realized I had stepped out of a season of finishing into a season of separation, but that separation didn't mean from God but separated to him.
Even though this season can feel very isolating, Nicki really helped me see, through her wisdom and analysis of the life of Moses, that I can embrace this season and have hope to look forward.
I am thankful for Nicki's wisdom and encouragement and I know Your New Now will be a book that I will refer to as a reminder to pay attention to the seasons of transitions that will come.
All I can say is WOW! Nicki Koziarz once again shares her beautiful heart and Biblical wisdom in this incredible book. Nicki teaches in this book about the different transitions we go through, and as she teaches, it's like she is talking with you, a friend, at your kitchen table over a cup of coffee. She is vulnerable, real, and so totally genuine. She shares the following statements that have resonated with me in such a profound way. There have been many other heart moments, but these have resonated the strongest: “I’m not lost, I’m learning the way.”, “God can take a complicated past and use it for His glory.”, and, “In the space between no longer and not yet, you still belong somewhere.” If you are feeling, like I was, that you are stuck or in limbo and “In the space between no longer and not yet . . . “, this book is definitely for you. I know God will use it in a mighty way in your life as He has in mine.
Once again, Nicki speaks to my heart and the yearning to have purpose! Your New Now is full of insight, wisdom, and comfort as we search for purpose in the season (or seasons) in which we find ourselves. Nicki writes with clarity and transparency…her experiences provide a common ground that has been so comforting to me in my own journey. I have struggled in the “now and not yet” and have felt so lost trying to discern what my life should like in the season I find myself. This book …walking through the life of Moses… unpacking his journey has helped me to finally see and understand the transitional season I am in and that God sees me and will equip me to fulfill His purpose and plan. I have loved all of Nicki’s books because she writes from such an honest and transparent place. I can truly say this is new book is my favorite.
Regardless of the season of transition you may find yourself in; Development, Separation, Cultivation, or Finished, Your New Now: Finding Strength and Wisdom When You Feel Stuck Where You Are by Nicki Koziarz might be worth your time. This is not a quick read. It is a book filled with thoughtful questions to spend time considering.
Your New Now uses the life of Moses as an example of change, and discusses four transitional seasons readers may currently be in. As she looks at Moses' life, Nicki offers practical advice and biblical wisdom to help readers navigate those seasons of transition.
Between each section, Nicki built in a mini-Bible study readers can use for further study if they choose.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House for a fair and honest review, which is exactly what I gave.
Nicki does it again, she pulls you into a book and you can’t put it down! No matter what season you are in the entire book is relatable! Don’t know what season your in, no big deal she teaches how to discover that (and she also has a quiz on her website if you need help). I enjoyed reading about seasons I had been through and seasons I will get to. She brings Biblical truth and fills you with wisdom to walk through the seasons of life. Nicki is an excellent writer and teacher. One of my very favorite quotes from this book is “Our response to what’s happening around us brings awareness to what’s reflecting in us”. Thank you Nicki for writing such an incredible teaching of seasons, this book is life changing!
The book was awesome in this current season of my life. I recently moved out into my own apartment and this book hit home.
Nicki touches on four different seasons and transitions in life. The four seasons that occur in life are: development, separation, cultivation, and finished.
I love how she touches on each of these seasons and reminds readers that there is not a wrong season, but rather lessons that can be learned in every season. Also, she reminds readers that we each transition can come emotions.
One of the things she pointed out that stuck with me is when she talks about holy nows. Holy nows are described as the moments that feel like a coincidence, but rather are moments ordained by God.
This book is powerful and should be read by everyone.
I read the New Now straight through when I got it. I was captivated by her story of Moses and how it relates to our lives. There were two places in the book that really spoke to me. One was the section on Separation, which is where I am now. So many changes in my life, but God's plan for our life doesn't change. It is rerouted sometimes like Moses's. The other thing that spoke to me was a "holy now". When things don't seem to be for any purpose but upon closer look are teaching us something. Like all Nicki's books I went away with scriptures and lessons to do life. I encourage you to read it, it does not disappoint.
Every book Nicki's writes just goes deeper. Seasons of transitions are hard sometimes, but Nicki walks us through the seasons of transitions in the life of Moses and how that applies to our life. It's in the in-betweens in life that it is easy to get distracted and impatient, but Nicki helps guide us to what we can do in the in-betweens and helps us recognize when some seasons must come to an end.
There is also a Bible study included in the book instead of having a separate study. I love this part very much! Nicki has the uncommon ability to make you feel like she is writing just for you as her friend. You are wrapped in love and grace from Nicki in this book.
I am an avid reader and love when I find a book to add to my select collection of “go to” books. I will definitely keep this book close by as I transition between seasons in my life. Although I was aware of different seasons in my life, I never thought of preparing or consciously working through them. Nicki Koziarz does an amazing job at breaking down life seasons into four categories - development, separation, cultivation, finished - and then providing guidance. One quote that has stuck with me is “I am not lost, I am learning.” Whatever season(s) you’re in this book is great to read and re-read!
This is one of those books that I didn’t know I needed. It’s a book for everyone because everyone experiences the seasons of life. Nicki helped me identify seasons I’ve been in in the past, seasons I’m in currently, and seasons that I’m about to enter. She teaches us using the story of Moses and personal examples and provides lessons to be learned in each transition. She opened my eyes and made things clearer for me. Personally, it’s hard sometimes figuring out when it is time for a season to be over, and she addresses it so well. Check this book out and you will learn how to navigate life well.
Nicki walks us through the life of Moses to give us biblical help in our seasons of transitions (development, separation, cultivation and finished). I have such a hard time with transitions, even small ones. But Nicki’s stories are real and relatable and her teachings are so encouraging. Moses’ story provides so many lessons for us as we live out our own lives with God as our guide. One of my favorite things about studying the Bible is understanding what the original text means. And Nicki does some of that. It just makes scripture become more alive and richer to me. Something so special that Nicki reminds me of, no matter what season I’m in, God will always be there. I am never alone.
This book has opened my eyes to the in between I’ve felt stuck in for a while now. I’ve always been a big fan of Moses’ story and it was refreshing to tap into what God was teaching Moses during his journey and see how it applies to my own story. I drifted through a season of separation from my job of 32 years when our office closed and started and started a season of development learning a new job and new culture. I’ll be stumbling into a season of separation again as mom’s dementia progresses but reading this book has helped bring me show me that I’m not alone; God is with me, just as He was with Moses.
Wow... I felt like she wrote this book just for me. I have just lost my Husband unexpectedly and my life has been flipped upside down. I was stuck in this weird place, not anger... lost on how to move forward and what does it look like going forward without my Husband. The way she explained the seasons of transition was so concrete for me. I was able to visualize the process not just read about it. The Bible study also included was beautifully tied in. I will be recommending this book to my Life Group at Church. No matter what transition in life you are going through the scriptures, personal stories and wisdom packed in this book will help you on your new journey.
This book (just like all of Nicki’s books!) was so encouraging to me. Using the story of Moses to illustrate seasons in life and how God uses them to grow our faith was eye-opening for me. I’ve never seen Moses’ story that way, but now I see it through fresh eyes. I look at my own life and see places of transition and I wonder what God is doing. I’m thankful to have this example from the Bible to reflect on and remember that He is working, even when I can’t see it. I highly recommend this book if you need a bit (or a lot) of encouragement in your spiritual journey. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
