I was very excited to read this book, but when I was done I was very disappointed, it left a bad taste in my mouth, and I can't seem to let it go without voicing how Crystal did a HUGE disservice to moms with this book.

I wholeheartedly agree with the premise of the book, and the advice to be more organized, say yes to only what really matters, and to plan, prep and adjust your time to make the most of the time you have while still enjoying your life.

However, not once in this book does she talk about the help she receives in her home or in her business.  From reading her book, you'd think she "does it all," as no one receives any kudos or acknowledgments. You'd think her life is so simple and easy to manage as she talks about how she has time to work out, read in the mornings, etc.

You read the whole book and wonder, "How can she do it all, while I am over here scrambling like a chicken with its head cut off?"

She has help, lots of it, but she never recognizes this in her book.

In a recent IG post, she talks about how she hasn't cleaned a toilet in two years because she has weekly house cleaners.  On her website, she talks about an "amazing team of incredible people who help with all of the behind-the-scenes details of running MoneySavingMom.com. There is no way we could do what we do without them."

An omission at this level couldn't have been an accident; in 227 pages, she could have found the space to tell you how she has help.  But she didn't.

Does she want us to think she's SuperMom?  Does she want to appear that she's above "help?"  I don't know.

It's so disappointing as she could have used her vast platform to normalize the concept of asking for and receiving help.  Everyone needs help; no one can do it alone. We need to support the working moms and the stay-at-home moms by telling them they don't need to do it all, they shouldn't feel guilty asking for help, and that there's no shame in receiving help.

Overall, I feel this book lacked honesty, true transparency and wasn't meant to really help moms feel better or do better.

Oh, and all the 5-star reviews? They were most likely a part of her launch promotion blast team. They incentivized good reviews.

There were a handful of helpful tips, but they could have all been summarized in a blog post. (I realize she is a blogger so they may be on her blog or social media as well.) I had high hopes for this one but unfortunately the book fell very flat for me.

She talked about her own life quite a bit, but to the point where it no longer felt helpful. While there is a time and place to learn from the example of others, this began to feel excessive. While I'm sure this wasn't her intention, it began to feel like a book about how many wonderful things she can accomplish.

This is from a Christian perspective, and she places a great emphasis on prayer, which is wonderful! I appreciate her heart for prayer as we seek the Lord. However, this chapter really missed the mark for me. I wouldn't consider this a gospel-centered book. Prayer is not merely a step to seek God and ask for His help for our day and our tasks. It is so much deeper than that- it is a way to commune with God. To know Him and pour our hearts out to Him. It's an opportunity to obey Him and to submit to Him with our lives.

Pros: The author narrates the book herself and does a wonderful job.

Overall, I was looking for helpful ideas and principles to manage time well. Sadly, this book over-promised and under-delivered.

Who doesn’t long to live a more peaceful, restful, and richer life yet still manage to “get it all done”? While it might sound impossible, Crystal Paine offers an encouraging and highly practical solution that will help anyone in any season of life. Get ready to be inspired from the very first page!

I throughly enjoyed this book. As someone who has always struggled with time management I appreciated Crystal’s clear and non burdensome approach. I also really appreciated how she didn’t present it as a one size fits all. She tells how she does things but gives examples how systems can be tweaked to fit different stages of life and personalities. My favorite part is how she emphasizes approaching everything with prayer and trust in God.

Crystal Paine has clearly laid out her own system for how she gets so much done each day while not becoming overwhelmed, and she emphasizes the foundation of it all, which is complete dependence on Jesus. It's always helpful to glean ideas from others and take what works for you, and there are a lot of good ideas here to draw from.

Basically this book is "I used to be terrible at time saving, but now I can juggle my crazy life, you're welcome for this amazing tip." I didn't find any real advice in this book and it was incredibly short. She basically said just get stuff done. If you are looking for a book with ACTUAL tips, read The Lazy Genius Way.

Loved how practical this book was! Crystal is someone I enjoy learning from because of how encouraging & practical she is in her approach to managing and simplifying the demands of life. It was very easy to take concepts and adapt/implement into my own life. This book is written from a Christian perspective, which wasn’t an issue for me, but sharing as a disclaimer in case that is a deal breaker for anyone.

I enjoyed this book for many reasons. It is very well written and gives step by step details on how to try to accomplish everything life throws at you without feeling guilty for what you can’t do.
It is written in a fun and human way in that Crystal (author) makes it clear everything doesn’t always go perfectly but to not give up. Crystal includes actual examples in her life of how and why she chose the steps that she feels should be followed to help a person enjoy a very chaotic life.
There is a religious content to the book but it works in the book whether you pray or not in your life. If you are religious it adds another layer of help in enjoying life.
The most important part of the I feel is you really need to focus on what is most important in your life without stressing over everything. The appendix at the end is an exceptionally helpful to use as a reference and tool.
In closing, I have been following Crystal on several platforms and feel that she truly is a genuinely good honest person. Her recommendations are ones that she feel will be helpful and useful to others not because it could give her a monetary advantage.

I was on the launch team for The Time-Saving Mom. The book releases March 7. I've enjoyed Crystal Paine's books before and follow her on social media. I enjoy her insights in daily living. This book delves into her system for managing your time like you can manage money. She shares her philosophy, but then spends most of the book sharing her systems. Unfortunately, these systems may not work for a lot of people. I think the book could have been improved by showing some different ways to implement her philosophies and not just her systems. It's a good book to start with to get used to the idea of managing time well, but understand you'll have to find a system that works for you, your personality, your life and your family.

This book is what I have been praying for as I found my life filled to the brim. Most of this abundance was good things but I knew I wasn’t spending my time on what mattered most. In her book, Time Saving Mom, Crystal gives us the tools to choose our priorities and how to make them our focus. These tools range from Google Calendar to Time Blocking to a Habit Tracker. She also gives us these resources in a printable format for those of us that still like paper and pen. After reading the book, I wasn’t sure where to start. BUT thumbing through the appendix, I found Crystal did not leave me hanging. She provide a 7 week plan to implement her ideas. I am so excited to get started and start focusing my time on what matters during this season of life!

This book was so helpful. Not only does Crystal write in a voice that I found easy to read, but her advice was simple, and yet so helpful. She doesn’t come across as one of those who thinks everyone should follower her rules and steps or you won’t succeed, but instead she is so humble and gives practical advice and information and step-by-step instructions on simplifying your life and learning to manage your time instead of letting time manage you.
Now I just need to implement it myself.
Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for ways to be more productive in any area of life!

Super helpful for me, but might not be everyone’s cup of tea! I enjoyed her stories of foster care, running a business, and raising children across a broad range of ages in an efficient and loving way. So much of the book is just extremely simple, practical advice—some things I already do (like Google calendars for almost everything) and some things I’m going to start doing!

Crystal Paine is someone I admire not only for the life she lives (fostering, adopting, writing, etc) but for how joyful she is! I loved this inside look at how she juggles her multiple responsibilities while always starting her day with prayer and letting go of what doesn’t matter (for instance, a Pinterest perfect home). Inspiring and practical book!

I enjoyed this book and came away with some new ideas to help me use my time better in my season of life. I liked how her first step was to take everything to the Lord in prayer. Oftentimes we struggle along in our own strength and the Lord is waiting for us to lean on him and ask for his wisdom and strength. Some things I already do a version of, but there was some new things that I took away. I'll probably try and get a hard copy so I can do some of the exercises that she has at the end.

This is an easy-to-read, very practical look at how to use time wisely. Crystal specifically addresses moms, but the same principles would work for anyone. Even though I have followed her online from the beginning, I still learned a few things about how she handles her prioritizing and goal setting. A number of helpful charts are included in the back as well. But most of all I appreciate Crystal’s repeated emphasis on God as the source of our strength and wisdom, and the reminders she shares of His grace. That’s what matters, far more than productivity!

Now, the title alone should have told me that this book really didn't need to be read, but I heard Crystal Paine talk about it on a podcast and she just sounded so lovely and I thought that I do in fact juggle a lot between work and life and maybe I could learn something from this book, even if the kid-part doesn't apply.

But, well, no. I guess I'm actually confused about who this book is written for, or rather, how this book could be written in 2023. Not to be mean, but her how-to-organize-your-life insight is to use a google calendar and create a schedule for the day by first looking at google calendar. Uhm.... is that an novel technique worth writing a book about?

So it was a bit of a let down. But there was one small take-away that I thought was interesting: she talks about naming priority areas for life (fewer than six) and then each day gets two priority areas assigned and they are rotated throughout the week. This helps her know that each area gets worked on, even if only two days a week. In practice, I think she said a priority area meant assigning 30 or 60 minutes more attention that day. So if friendships or relationship or kids were an area, then twice a week you'd have blocked out time to focus on that. I am not sure how to implement that in a realistic way, because when I have a pressing work task, it usually swallows all of my time - but maybe that's why the idea appealed to me (who wouldn't like a bit more balance in life?) even if I don't know how to put it into action. But I'll mull it over and see what I can come up with.

A great synthesis of Crystal's tips and tricks for time management, many of which she talks about regularly on social media. That being said, while most of the content was not necessarily unique, it was a well written expansion on her favorite topics. While I am not a mom, I am busy, and enjoyed this book. The audiobook which Crystal narrates herself is exceptionally good. Now...to maybe actually apply some of it. (I have been resisting Google Calendar...but I probably should just bite the bullet and try it so I stop double-booking myself!)

I had to preorder The Time-Saving Mom when one of my favorite blogger personalities (The Money Saving Mom) was starting her launch. Then I joined the launch team because as a blogger, well that's what I do.

I read it in about a weekend and a few extra evenings. I love that it was written in an easy to digest and enjoy kind of way. Crystal Paine writes like a real human wants to read, a real busy mom human, a kind of human who has no time to skim past fluff and repetition. The book contains lots of visually easy to enjoy bullets, breakout sections, etc., on top of the paragraphs explaining her methods.

Crystal Paine is a busy busy mom, she runs a business and has a big family. She has a lot on her plate, and teaches us how she manages her time and energy so well. My favorite was her Priorities section where she shows us her 6x2 system. It's brilliant! The way she organizes her priorities so everything gets focused on a selected day is brilliant, and not allll the time alll at once, which is impossible!

I also love that we use Google Calendar the same way. I put all my reminders in Gcal too, everything from going grocery shopping to a reminder to make a phone call. I even sometimes put work related items in my personal Google Calendar if they overlap into needing preparation in advance, an early meeting, etc. I love her tips to brain dump everything into an all-day event on your Google Calendar and just move it around to whatever next available day you can get that done.

The only criticism I would have is the book shares her systems that work for her lifestyle, which is a SAHM, WAHM with her own business. A lot of the flexibility and being able to decide what to say no to isn't as attainable for moms with careers outside the home. We are not just answering to ourselves and our family, but we have a boss and external deadlines that maybe don't align with our personal goals. So finding time in the margins for our personal priorities becomes that much more challenging. While the author doesn't have that lifestyle, a bit more advice or application to that lifestyle would have made this book even more relatable for more moms.

I also skimmed over the Prayer section, because that is not my cuppa as I do not do religion. However, I do believe in mindfulness and gratitude practice, and the tips she shares in that section can easily be transitioned into starting your day with mindfulness and positive energy. The main lesson there is not to internalize the hardships and negativity but focus on peace and asking either a higher power, the universe, or even yourself, to give you abundance of time and energy to focus on your priorities.

As with all things taught in these self-help books, they will not do you any good unless you actually sit down and apply them. One step at a time, one habit at a time, or you will be too overwhelmed and might quit. This book includes an appendix with trackers and worksheets to help implement her time management teachings.

Ladies if you do not know who Crystal Paine is, you need to. Also, known as The Money Savings Moms. I have been reading her blog and her posts on Instagram for years, she also has a great podcast. She shares real life, her faith, and how to save money on groceries and sends out daily deals. She is one of the most down to earth people on the internet, not fake, which I so appreciate amongst all the influencers out there and I wouldn’t even put her in that category because of how she shares. I have read a couple of her past books, but her most recent on The Time Saving Mom – How to Juggle a Lot, Enjoy Your life, and Accomplish What Matters Most was a timely read for me. Having taken on additional responsibility at my stay at home job, while homeschooling, managing the home, being a wife, and raising children I needed some encouragement and some new how to balance these areas well, without feeling overwhelmed. She is living the example, running an at home business, raising children, doing foster care, and ministry work! She is full of encouragement and this book shares how she does this with great step-by-steps and also resource page of forms she uses. I also enjoyed reading her story about fostering and adoption in the midst of writing this book.

If you are not a person of faith, then this book may not be for you, but I hope you are and if not, you could still glean some great tips on using your time wisely. Her first step is prayer and putting God first, which I am so glad it is! Then she shares how to prioritizing things based on what matters in different areas and seasons of your life. “It’s not about hustling harder or being a productivity queen; it’s about wrapping our time and energy and life around those things that really make a difference.” She breaks this down and includes questions to ask yourself. Then she takes you through her planning system, how she does it and the process with examples, and a section on prepping for the night before and morning, all while knowing that unexpected things come up. Which is something I appreciate, I like seeing examples and how it is done. Along with such great examples, at the end of each chapter is a truth section and prayer to help.

I have followed Crystal on social media for years now and have been a little intimidated by how much she gets accomplished on a daily basis all while keeping her faith and her family at the forefront. When I saw that she was releasing a new book about time management, I decided to pre-order (a big step for me since I usually check out most of my books from the library). I bought the book because 1) purchasing it would be a way to say thank you for the practical, encouraging content she puts out into the internets and 2) I love a good productivity manual.

I wasn't disappointed. It felt like a little bit of Cal Newport, James Clear and Laura Vanderkam all rolled up and tied with a big Jesus-loving bow. Crystal recognizes that many of her readers or social media followers do not share her same beliefs, but she starts her time-management practical tips with the acknowledgement that without God, she would not have the strength or the ability to do all that she does.

I won't go through her systems she uses to make the most of every day, but it all felt immensely simple, practical and doable. At the end she reminds us that, "Nothing will change in our lives unless we’re willing to GET UP and do the right thing— even if we don’t feel like it." We have to be willing to put in the work to change our habits and have our days reflect our priorities.

I also like that in the appendix, she lays out a seven week plan for implementing all of the changes she recommends. It's easy to try to put it all in practice at once and then get overwhelmed and give up, but the slow roll out will hopefully keep us from burning out on our commitment.

I bought Atomic Habits by James Clear because I knew that it was a reference book I would want to have on hand. This is another book of that nature, a well-written practical productivity book that I personally like even better because it's rooted in a firm commitment to Jesus.

Wow! I have been following Crystal Paine for years, and was so excited to read the Time Saving Mom, since I heard it was coming out. I finished the book a few days ago, and was blown away by the gold mine of wisdom in this book. Crystal not only laid out clear ways to find your priorities, but also introduced me to several ways to implement a plan to structure my day, get my priorities accomplished, and not fall into overwhelm. She also challenged me to have the self discipline to follow my plan. Being a being a homeschooling bio and foster momma, I found a life rope in this book that showed me a way to keep from drowning in my overwhelm.

This book is so good and perfectly timed for me. I didn’t always struggled with time management, but in the past few years life has gotten very busy, complex and I haven’t been able to keep up. I have been struggling a lot!

Crystal has broken it down into a manageable way. I have always loved these types of books, but this one is different than any other one I’ve read. Crystal writes from an Christian perspective and in such a personal way that feels like I could be talking to a friend about life and priorities. I highly recommend this book.

I am not a mom, but found a lot of helpful info, as well as info to share with families I work with. There were a lot of practical tips on prioritizing, immersing self in scripture, spending time with God and more. Even though I have used Google calendar for years, I found some new tips in that section of the book. My biggest takeaways were about treating time like money and viewing how we spend time with God in a similar lens to tithing.

4 stars because I like this author and was encouraged by this book, but I can’t say I necessarily learned anything new. It wasn’t deep or groundbreaking, but honestly, getting more done in your day does come down to simplifying, not complicating, your life. It was a pep talk to learn self discipline and to get up and actually DO what you need to do!
