Ok (though not great) step-by-step how-to guide for opening your own consulting practice from the folks at Entrepreneur magazine. The book covers the nuts-and-bolts foundational steps such as defining your target market, marketing, pricing your service, etc. that are often left out of other books around developing a consulting practice. The best use of this book is to develop a framework/outline of steps that you want to take to build your consulting practice. Then use other more rigorous texts (such as Alan Weiss' entire collection) to fill in the gaps in your knowledge areas. One really annoying aspect of this book is that it keeps referring to a sister book called "Startup Basics" which doesn't appear to be available anymore. Does have some good sample templates that are quite useful...otherwise it would have scored lower. An ok text to start you on your consulting journey...but will leave you feeling less than adequately informed.
