Art is the ultimate paradox of humanity. It constantly seeks to find kinship with the ephemeral quicksand while simultaneously pausing to contemplate over the mismatched heartbeats of each granule. Even more so, literary art, for it becomes the responsibility of 26 meager alphabets to rummage through the uneven contours of the chambers hidden by human emotions to confront them in all their masquerading complexity.
This poetry chapbook attempts to narrate the journey of human emotions to an eager language, by catching them off-guard in moments of extreme vulnerability and strength.
Shinjini Bhattacharjee is a poet, writer, and the founding editor of Hermeneutic Chaos Literary Journal. She considers herself to be a lexical photographer who loves to rummage through language to find words that smell like infinite spandex, and weave them into images to cloak her experiences and emotions. As a student of English Literature and Creative Writing, her favorite adventure sports is to confront emotions suddenly in all their masquerading complexity. She spends half her waking time reading novels and poems like the brown crinkly pages of a lost book, and the other half, stuffing all her thoughts inside the 26 alphabets. Her poems and essays have been published in over 30 literary journals.
Received this as a gift from a friend. I really liked this chapbook. The language is simply stunning, and the way the author lays bare the starkness of human life and emotions is remarkable. She writes with a cool detachment, but this very writing style astounds the readers with a plethora of emotions hardly found in literature. Highly recommended!
I don't usually read poetry, but this one caught my attention due to its interesting title. I read a sample of the book on Amazon and was immediately left spellbound. The book is nothing short of a classic. Shinjini has this ingenious knack of juxtaposing unexpected words and images together to create a startling awareness of human experiences. I have become a fan forever!
Words cannot express what a wonderful compilation of poetry this is. The one reason that prevents me from giving it a five star is due to my bias towards character development. A MUST READ book. A wonderful writer, poet and teacher. One of the few poem compilations in today's world that has truly impacted me.
