Second Chance Blessings
Book 1: A Secret Christmas Family Book 2: The Nanny Next Door
I live in Northern Lower Michigan with my husband and our three adorable dogs. I enjoy the Great Lakes, anything outdoors, and a really strong cup of coffee. My love of fairy tales as a kid paved the way for me to create my own happily-ever-after stories. My passion grew in writing flawed characters who realize their need to trust God before they can trust each other.
I love to hear from readers and can be reached through my website at www.jennamindel.com.
I just finished this by Jenna Mindel and it is absolutely amazing. The second book in Jenna’s Second Chance Blessings series, this one features widow Maddie Williams who harbours a mixture of guilt and anger over her husband’s death and Jackson Taylor who is also a widow with two daughters. Their stories are raw and emotional, painful, devastating and heartbreaking but there’s also hope and forgiveness and love. This was a fabulous read dealing with the pain of losing a spouse to suicide and the grief and guilt associated with it. Maddie and Jackson are perfect for each other and the way their story unfolds via Jenna’s hand is so sensitive and real and you feel so much for these two who are hurting so much but find comfort and a new start together.
Hero and heroine have hurtles from former marriages to overcome before they can move on to a future together. Pearl, a gray parrot, is Maddie’s good companion .. inherited from her grandfather. Setting: Upper peninsula of Michigan.
Beautiful and moving story about personal forgiveness
Mindel's books always make me smile, but this special story also brought a few tears. Both characters had a few issues to get through, most notably Maddie's anger and guilt concerning her deceased husband. But they worked together, talked issues through when ready, and created something beautiful. The parrot was cute, the daughters endearing, and the healing believable. A sweet romance with an uplifting Christian message.
This book is so beautifully capativing, emotional intriguing, and tenderly compassionate. Excellent, dramatic, lovable, relatable, and well-defined characters that deals with realistic problems.
Jackson Taylor, wife, Delia, commit suicide from mental depression while Maddie Williams, recently decreased husband, Stan, was excessively and verbally abused. Both used their Christian faith and therapy to help them overcome their fear of true Love.
I also love Jackson two daughters, Zoe and Dora along with Maddie, parrot, Pearl. Highly recommended
It is between 3 and 4 stars so rating shown may vary. I believe I have read this author in the past.
The characters are well thought out, though maybe a bit stereotypical for this genre in that both have baggage from previous marriages. Having a parrot as the animal in the story was interesting. The girls melted my heart.
I do think the story minimizes how much time it might take to heal some of the effects of past relationships and guilt feelings. Maddie seems to address hers in less than 7 months. I'm not sure that's realistic (at least not for everyone) even with a competent counselor, a willing client, and faith in God's promises.
Jenna Mindel writes a heartwarming story with a good storyline, realistic characters with some soul-searching to do. One is dealing with guilt and what-ifs from his spouse committing suicide. One is dealing with guilt from an emotionally abusive spouse. One is dealing with God and the other is angry with God. Can two little girls help both overcome their issues? A sweet read from Ms Mindel’s Second Chance Blessings series.
Maddie lost her husband and she is dealing with issues of guilt from his death. Jackson lost his wife to suicide because of depression. Jackson has two little girls, Zoe and Dora. Jackson moved into the house beside Maddie and that's how they met.
I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down.
Jenna Mindel writes a story of heartache, loss, friendship, and learning to trust others. I love the interaction with the Parrot in the story written so that I could almost picture the scene. Can't wait for book 3 of the Second Chance Blessings series.
This is a really good book with widow Maddie Williams wanting a fresh start. But she's worried her meager skills and high diploma will hinder her chamces. After her neighbors move in, Jackson Taylor and his two daughters, he hires her as his children's nanny.
