In Setting the Tone from the Top, Melinda Muth and Bob Selden examine how leader conversations shape organisational culture. They show how using appropriate words and language can tap the collective knowledge of the board and the senior management team to improve their working relationships, their collective decision making and ultimately positively impact the behaviour of the management and all employees.
Topics covered how word choice impacts leader behaviour; words to use and words to avoid to build effective relationships; difficult conversations in a group setting; and overcoming conversation stoppers.
This practical guide offers techniques, tips and strategies for navigating the conversations that directors and senior executives encounter on a day-to-day basis.
What an amazing book. Full of practical tips to make communication so effective. Lots of lovely stories that highlight the things to avoid and the things to try. The text will be especially sought after by those that lead teams or organisations, as communication has such a critical part to play in shaping organisational culture. Be prepared to cringe a few times - I did and I had many ah ha moments. So that's why that person reacted to what I said - I just thought they were hard to get on with!! A book to be read and then used a great leadership resource. Highly recommend.
A great resource for all people in leadership positions, very practical guide with great examples of how to instil an effective culture and very useful advice for tricky situations and things to avoid.
