Ruth McCann has a plan for her future. She’ll marry, settle down in her hometown of Stowe, Vermont, and raise a family with the man her father picked out for her. Though she doesn’t love Peter Stillarch, she’s resigned to the life laid out in front of her. Some people, she knows, never find true love.
Everything changes when her husband-to-be dies in an accident. Suddenly, Ruth finds herself without any prospects and with no future at all.
At her father’s urging, she signs up to be a Mail Order Bride and is matched with Noah Walker in Mine’s Place, Colorado. But not everything at Walker Ranch is as it seems. The family welcomes her with open arms, but Noah is taciturn and silent. Is he keeping a secret from her? If only Noah were as open and affectionate as his younger brother Liam…
With her wedding approaching, Ruth finds herself faced with a pour her heart into the marriage of convenience she’s agreed to…or hold out for a love that may never be.
Susannah Calloway loves everything Western! And if a delightful romance is thrown into the mix, ahhh!, even better!
Susannah has always been intrigued with the Western movement - prairie days, mail-order brides, the gold rush, frontier life! As a writer, she's excited to combine her love of story with her love of all that is Western.
Presently, Susannah lives in Wyoming with her hubby and their three amazing children. (Her little cowpokes!) The whole family enjoys riding and grooming their four horses! (Belter is Susannah's favorite!)
I didn’t like the story because of the deception that was going on with Noah. He should of been more truthful and up front from the beginning. He’s kinda of a big jerk. Liam was sweet, but it still was frustrating for Ruth. If Noah had been more honest then Liam and Ruth could of enjoyed each other’s company more. It was a ok story, but not as much as some of the others one in this series. That why I gave it 3 stars. I hope the next one is better. 🤨😠🤪
Ruth just attended the funeral of her fiance, she was sad at the loss, but she never Loved him as a Lover but as a brother. She answered a advert for a mail order bride and showed up in Mine's Place to meet Noah Walker but he never showed. So she walked. This is a Great story of Love, Family, and Forgiveness Plus a very Happy ending.
Noah sets up one barrier after another and avoids spending time with Ruth leaving his brother, Liam to keep her comforted. Truth is withheld until discovered by accident. Ending is rather abrupt.
This was a nice read written by Susannah Calloway. She has away with words in her books. This is book 5 in this series and can be read in just a few minutes. A very enjoyable read.
A lovely story sure to entertain. The plot was unexpected. The characters were believable, the story setting was clearly a Colorado winter scene. Forgiveness was a theme that caused me to recommend this book for all ages.
