Rylan

Schuldig. Ehemaliger Häftling. Schwerverbrecher. Kriminell.

description
I have read every book by Hayley Faiman and this unconventional love story Convict is her best work to date!

When you live in a small town your actions define you and there are no secrets. The convict and the homewrecker are the labels that have been applied to Rylan and Channing. Because of circumstances, they deal with the whispers and stares day in and day out.

Rylan made poor choices that unfortunately had tragic consequences. His past mistakes haunt him every waking moment but in a sad way also saved him from the path of destruction. Faced with demons, he vows to change and never go back to the life he was living. When he meets Channing there is an instant connection, he sees someone living with demons as well.

Channing made poor choices as well. She was young, naive and wanted someone to love her. Unfortunately she fell for the wrong person. A man in a position of authority that should been protecting her instead took advantage. I hate that Channing was so hard on herself. But one thing about this strong woman is that she owned up to her part of the situation she found herself in.

I loved Rylan and Channing as a couple. You can see their chemistry and connection makes them stronger together. They found each other in a time of their lives that they needed each other. It was beautiful and it was sweet.

I love this book which starts a new series for Hayley Faiman. The secondary characters in Convict were just as engaging as the main characters. Especially Wyatt! I cannot wait to see what is going to happen to this man who was such a big part in helping Rylan.

Convict is the first novel in a new series from Hayley. I have to say, this is one of my favorite novels by her. She takes us on a lighter journey with Convict, (despite what the title and cover may lead you to believe). It has just enough dark to be a classic Hayley novel, but us much lighter and a bit happier than her MC or Bratva novels.
This is a story of two people who made mistakes in their lives and together are on a journey to put the past behind them and live their best lives together.
Rylan served his time, and is now out of jail and ready to start over. He has lived with his actions for the past five years and will live with it for the rest of his life, and is now determined to do better, to be better. When he meets Channing, a young girl who also will live with the consequences of her actions for the rest of her life, it was immediate attraction. There was a pull that was undeniable.
The chemistry between these two was off the charts hot! Despite both of them vowing to resist the other, they found they could not. Channing brought out a protective side of Rylan, while Rylan brought out Channing’s confidence and determination.
I love these two. I love that while there were some bumps along the road, their romance was easy, it was happy, and you just knew these two were going to be that crazy-in-love couple for the rest of their lives.
I love this new direction in Hayley’s writing, and I cannot wait for the next one in this series.

For those who follow my reviews know that I love anything Hayley Faiman writes. For us all her books have wonderful character's that we love and want to hate but, still love them but, most of all they are always intense and emotional and filled with character's that are broken and some darker then others but, just need to find the only one meant for them to become whole once again. This author's story this time around was no different as we loved the great character's she created for us yet again for us to fall in love with.

This story was a very emotional one for all parties involved.I will say that Wyatt was a God send throughout the entire story we really loved him as he was always there when anybody need him, but, most of all he was able to give Ryland a leg up for him to stay on the straight and narrow and in a sense owes him the life he is leading today and all the happiness that comes with it.

Channing we really loved her .She was a brave young lady and my heart went out to her time and time.We found her to be resilient,a bit shy, caring and compassionate, beautiful inside and out but, just one of those character's you can't help but love because she is pure sunshine and sweetness.

Ryland Omg! What a hottie! We love the heavily tattooed sexy bad boy who had a sexy swag about him as we as being a sensual lover who had a tortured soul and was broken but, no matter what happiness comes his way he will always be haunted by his past miss deeds.

We loved the story from beginning to end as it was about second chances, healing, forgiveness, making a better life for oneself and meeting the one who is the right one for you who will all make these things possible. The story was filled with tons of drama, suspense, had a few twists and turns as well as a few Omg ! moments you never saw coming.

Overall we loved the story that was placed in a small town and it just a reminder to all that comes with living in one that has pro's and con's but, for this couple it was almost impossible for them to move on from their past mistakes because the towns people will always be judging them.If anyone can come beat the odds it was this couple and we were rooting for them and their happiness. This was one hot read! Ryland and Channing made the perfect couple as their chemistry was super hot and there sexual encounters even hotter. Most of all the author created the perfect ending to one heck of an emotional tale.

Recommended read to All!
Looking forward to the next book in this ongoing series. We can't wait for Wyatt to get his own story as we are already half way in love with him. grins..

I remember reading Rough and Rowdy by Hayley and loving her unique style of writing.

I picked up Convict because tbh that cover was calling my name and I was in the mood for something a bit darker.

I feel like I need to say I don't agree with the reviews that advise others to avoid this book. Yes, the hero is an ex-con, served his time for murder. Yes, the heroine had an affair with her teacher and is carrying his baby. A bit unconventional, so what?

Okay, now without giving out major spoilers... My problem was, first the hero banging some random chick after already meeting the heroine. Then he seeks her out and in a matter of hours he basically tells her he's moving in with her. Then she sleeps with him, even though she just got dumped by the man she claimed to love and well, she knows next to nothing about Rylan. I got the soulmate connection between them and all, but things were evolving so fast, I wasn't feeling it. After all it turned out to be a sweet story - the end was a bit dragging for my liking - about two broken souls completing each other, but those things were on my mind the whole time I was reading.

Sadly, this one was just okay for me, but I'm really looking forward to the other guys' stories in this series.

WOW! What a great story!! So powerful it hits you right in the heart! I hated to put my Kindle down and thought about the story until I could pick it back up.
Rylan and Channing are both broken. Mistakes in their past won't go away, small town life doesn't allow it. Ghost are always haunting them hurting them. But together the are perfect!! They fix the broken in each other. He gives her the security and love she craves. She gives him the support and stability he needs.
All is coming together beautifully then in true Hayley Faiman the sweet lovey story takes a turn I didn't see coming. There were characters I didn't like. I knew they were vicious mean people but I didn't know how sick and twisted they really word. WOW!
I think one of my favorite part was the characters were real people with real problems. They were people I would know in my everyday life and that made this a very relatable story.
I sure hope some of the other characters get books because we saw peeks into their lives that look to be great stories.

I am a new reader of Hayley Faiman and with Convict being the first book I have read from her, I enjoyed it. It was a fairly light hearted read, with a HEA. Both Rylan and Channing are making up for past mistakes, with many demons hiding in the closet.

. . .

Rylan just finished his sentence from prison, and wants to start over. Lost five years in that hell hole he is more mature and wants to do better for himself. One day he meets a young girl named Channing, who shares the same kind of pain hiding behind those eyes. The attraction and undeniable chemistry was sizzling, but what made this story for me was how both Channing and Rylan completed one another. Wanting to better themselves and start fresh. Leaving the past behind them. Be a family.

. . .

Why the rating?
I gave Convict three stars, because of how insta-lovey it felt. I wanted to see more story build between their relationship. Also it wasn't dark like I expected it to be. But overall I did enjoy this book, and will read more from Hayley Faiman.

It's funny how many times I have wanted to read this book and put it down because I was worried it would be too sad or dark for my mood. And now that I've read it I wish I had pulled up my big girl panties earlier. It definitely had moments where I teared up a little bit but for the most part the story was just beautiful.

Rylan and Channing had both been through such a terrible upbringing and sadly Rylan had chosen to follow in his parents’ path. Channing had worked hard not to be her mother but after making some naive choices found herself in a compromised position. From the first time they laid eyes on each other they had an instant connection that I felt through the pages.

Both Rylan and Channing had beautiful hearts and I loved how hard they were both prepared to work to make the best of things. And to be the best possible version of themselves for each other but especially for the innocent life they were committed to from the start. Honestly through everything I couldn’t have loved them or their actions more. Even when everything was against them, they just held their heads up and worked to make things better.

They had some awesome secondary characters around them who I’m really looking forward to getting to know better when they each get their own stories. They also had some truly horrible people who thankfully got some of what they deserved, and I loved that the author wrapped up most of the strings from Rylan and Channing’s story. There wasn’t any miracle or fairy god mother making things magically amazing there was just real life and a continuation of them working their arses off.

When you see an excerpt on Tik Tok and you basically go in blind with the hopes of the book living up to the expectations, this one definitely did it for me! I am a sucker for second chance books and both of these characters, Rylan and Channing tug you your heart strings from the very beginning.

Not only is this a beautiful story of two lost individuals who get a second chance with each other, it is full of spicy as well so your getting the best of both the romance and the steamy stuff! Rylan is a fierce man who is a protector by nature and his pure adoration for Channing literally makes me want to die, that man will bend to the knee for her and give her anything she asks for. Then you have Channing, who is one strong badass woman who experiences hardships and shame but truly comes out on the other side. I loved these two, their relationship and the additional friends made family in this book. I can't wait to read more from their series!

Yikes! This book had me so nervous and on edge almost throughout the whole thing. Channing and Rylan were both emotionally damaged and (almost) broken people who each had a past they were not proud of...nor a family they could be proud of. One is an ex-con who is still paying for a crime that sent him away to prison for 5 years. The other was a gullible and foolish girl who followed her heart and didn't use her common sense enough to stay out of trouble.
I had a hard time getting through this one...it was brutal, emotional and at times very tough to not cringe at what Channing and Ryland had to deal with. Strap yourself in for a wild ride...a bit different from what this author usually writes but still a story you can deeply get into.

***** 4.5 ***** "playing happy family for real" stars

I didn't know what to expect when I dove into this book. What I like about it is that both Channing and Rylan are imperfect. How they deal with their problem is quite realistic and I love how the author made us see how money is a significant problem for them. This is a huge deal for me because most of the romance books that I've read have always had a rich guy or rich girl that would automatically solve their financial problems. Even though I've read romances about middle class people, I still like reading about people where money is a huge problem and where both protagonists are obviously struggling to get by.

What I don't like about this book, though, is the amount of sex scenes. Almost 75% of the book consists of them having sex with each other and that sucks because I want to see them find ways on how to heal and deal with their issues.

I was excited and very curious how this new series by Hayley would be. I started this book without really knowing what to expect and she knocked it out of the park. These two instantly grip you from the beginning. They are real, they are broken but they are also ready to redeem themselves from the past. These two characters never make excuses for themselves and that is very admirable. Watching them connect and be vulnerable with each other is really beautiful. I love this start to a great new series. I can't wait to read the other books.

❤~🌟~❤4 SIZZLING STARS!❤~🌟~❤

"Five years in hell brought me to you.”

Sparks fly when the “home wrecker” and the “convict’s” worlds collide in Gallup, Tx!

Confession: I am OBSESSED with stories featuring former felons, so this mouthwatering book cover and tantalizing blurb immediately caught my eye! And holy wow did it EXCEED my expectations! This is my first book by Hayley Faiman and am now a total fangirl!

I was transfixed by CONVICT from page one and was immediately sucked into the lives of Rylan and Channing, two town outcasts who are powerfully drawn together at first sight and against all odds find a second chance at love—and bittersweet redemption.

This smoldering hot, insta-love story unfolds at a warp speed but did not shortchange us on the heart throbbing feels! The intense emotions packed a punch, the whirlwind romance between these two kindred spirits was sweet and endearing, and YOWZA the erotic interludes were on fire!

Ryan and Channing’s combustible chemistry was interlaced with such heartfelt, poignant emotion that I couldn’t help but be completely and utterly swept up in their wildly addictive love story. And yes, there is no denying that this is a love at first sight kind of read—but it felt organic and AUTHENTIC and I truly felt their two shattered souls recognizing each other and slowly but surely fusing all their broken bits together to become whole. But even though their relationship progressed quickly and there was not much push-pull on either of their parts, the journey for Channing, an unwed mom-to-be whose life is shrouded in shame, and Rylan, a former addict whose horrific life-altering mistake behind the wheel will haunt him till his dying day, was far from easy. This book celebrates the beauty of forgiveness, second chances and love triumphing against all odds in the most wondrous of ways!

I fell head over heels for both these MCs —we ALL need a hot, ruggedly sexy, swoonworthy Alpha Male with a heart of gold like Rylan in our lives. His fierce devotion to Channing made me all warm and melty inside! And Channing was a such a sweetheart. I loved her warmth, her kindness, her tender-hearted temperament, and how she always held her head high even when it felt like the vultures were swarming. Gah, despite the obstacles in their path, these two WORKED SO HARD to atone for their past mistakes and deserved a shot at a better life. And I am so glad they found one another to love and cherish and see each other through life’s torrential storms!

I also really enjoyed the gossipy small-town setting of Gallup, Tx, and thought that Ms. Faiman did an exemplary job of depicting the hardships of the working class who struggle to put food on the table and truly live paycheck to paycheck. Furthermore, I especially love how the good-hearted folks in the MCs inner circle always had the H&h’s backs, helping and supporting Channing and Rylan through thick and thin.

So why 4 stars instead of 5? Well, as much as I relished this book, it was not flawless. First and foremost, while I love the steamy chemistry between Ryan and Channing, I do think the author went overboard with the EXCESSIVE amount of sex these two had! Too many scenes of them getting it on amounted to it feeling rather repetitive and I found myself skimming parts, anxious to get back to the tender-hearted romance and the juicy drama. I just felt like there was a bit too much filler on that front at the expense of the story. Also, while there’s no denying that every good small-town romance needs a few dastardly villains, there was an outlandish plot twist at the 65 percent mark involving Channing’s scummy baby daddy, James, and his psychotic wife, Jennifer, that really was a “jump the shark” moment for me. I just could not take it seriously because it was really so preposterous. Thankfully that OTT melodrama resolved itself quickly and we were able to get back to the heart of the story.

And finally, I did feel that the book could have used another round of editing. There were grammatical errors and the author tended to use some of the same expressions over and over again (i.e. “hum” was referenced umpteenth times). And I also felt like some streamlining could have been done to pick up the pace a bit in the second half of the story.

But those pesky quibbles aside, I truly adored CONVICT! This sweet, sexy, second chance story was deeply moving, the HEA made my heart sing, and the manner in which all the drama and abiding love came full circle in the epilogue was beautiful indeed. I was utterly charmed by the town of Gallup and its cast of memorable characters, and hope to see more stories in the Unfit Hero series.

A MUST READ!

I have many mixed emotions about this book and most of them come from how this affected me personally. You see, I have somewhat of a past much like Rylan. No, I didn’t go to prison but something like that (no need to go into great detail) but this brought a TON of stuff back to me, therefore it made this a difficult read for me.

As far as a book, it was good. I’ve read all of Hayley’s other books and this was not my favorite but the story was so real.

There were a couple things I didn’t care for. First, don’t hate me, but I felt like there was too much sex (God I never thought those words would pass my lips because y’all know how I love my smut😂🙈), I felt like it was on every other page and I would have liked more story less sex. Don’t get me wrong it was hot but I thought it was a bit OTT in some spots. I also thought that some things were repeated more than once and that got a bit monotonous.

Things I loved....Rylan and Channing were very real to me. Very relatable and their story was the same. Two young people defined by their pasts. Mistakes they made still hanging over their heads like a black cloud. I think it’s so unfair how people are judged by their past mistakes especially if they’ve paid the price according to the law. Bless their hearts😢They had an uphill battle and they made it, with the unyielding help of Ry’s sweet cousin Wyatt. He was such an important person in Rylans life, and he was a true friend.
The secondary characters were fabulous and I can’t wait to see if she has books in store for them.

The villains in this book were straight up loco🙈sick twisted mothers! They did give the story that element of angst that it needed.

No one knows what it’s like to walk down the street and have folks hate you so much that they call you names and do everything to make your life a living hell. I think the author did a phenomenal job in portraying this.

All in all this was a really good book and I did enjoy it. I will never not read Hayley’s work because I have watched her grow so much as an author.

Angst✨✨✨
Cheating none
Sexy Time ✨✨✨✨(a bit much at times)
Epilogue ✨✨✨✨(I needed more😂)
Plot✨✨✨✨

Convict is my first Hayley Faiman book and it won’t be my last! Convict is filled with small town gossip, forbidden romance, and insta-attraction. All tied up with an unexpected twist! The writing is clean and straightforward.

Ryland Lindsay has done his time and he is fresh out of prison. He is consumed with guilt over his crime. With the help of his cousin, Wyatt, Ryland is trying to be a better man, make a better life. It is hard to do when you had no examples while growing up.

I’m an ex-con, I’m a criminal, I’m guilty, and I am a murderer. To some, I am evil and deserve to rot in a cell.

Channing Shephard is a young, small town waitress. Forbidden romance has left her in a situation. She is kind, selfless and trying to do what is right, to stay strong. She meets Ryland at the diner she works in and the attraction is there. Ryland is nothing like her last “boyfriend.” Their pasts have defined them but their future is wide open. Can they make it work?

“One damaged soul, attracted to another.”

A great start to the new Unfit Hero series. I really enjoyed reading Ryland and Channing’s story. Ryland is HOT! There were a lot of sexy times!! And he is working so hard to be a better man! Channing is sweet and kind. She is trying to overcome many obstacles as well. I love the bits of internal dialogue that Ryland and Channing had while trying to work out a problem or trying to deal with their insecurities and self-doubt. It was perfect. A great way to get inside of their head and see their feelings. Up next - Wyatt’s story! Can’t wait!

Two shattered hearts. Two shattered souls. Two broken people coming together to hold onto one another. To love one another.

4 stars!

Another amazing story by Hayley Faiman Convict has to be my favorite by the author and I can't wait to read more of these characters so want the next book in the Unfit hero series . Loved the connection that the hero and heroine shared just by one glance they new it was something special but thought they weren't good enough for the other . Both Rylan and Channing had a bad past they were scarred by one or more things in their past . The first time these two give into temptation it was fire they really burned up my kindle with how steamy the sex scenes were . Oh my gosh the epilogue was bitter sweet my heart hurt for some one but also grew with how the couple ended up . If you are new to the author you really need to get her books as soon as possible you wont regret it and if you are a fan this is already in your kindles (Wink ) .

Convict is the first book in the new Unfit Hero series for author Hayley Faiman. I have been a big fan of this author since I read her Notorious Devils MC series. Her writing leans toward the more erotic side of romance with a little dark suspense thrown in and with Convict we saw a more sensitive side of her writing.

The main character Rylan has just been released from a five-year prison sentence after committing vehicular manslaughter while under the influence. His parents are junkies, he’s a former dealer and recovering addict, he has all the baggage to self-destruct the minute he is out of prison.
The heroine, Channing, is a naïve, young waitress. She has been having an affair with her ex-teacher and just recently found out that she is pregnant with his child. She was raised by a single alcoholic mother, which also gives her all the reason to continue the cycle.
What we find when they come together is that sometimes broken pieces can complete a puzzle. Rylan and Channing finding each other was what they needed to cut from what their future should look like and pave their own way.

I supremely enjoyed Rylan’s character and his journey through this book. Faiman has a way of writing broken male characters that society tells us we are supposed to hate, but we end up falling in love with. I wasn’t a huge fan of the heroine Channing, I just didn’t feel like we got to know her as well, so I didn’t have that connection with her. But the overall story-line was good with some unexpected twists and suspense. I am excited to see where this series goes and whose book will be next.

There are no words for how much I loved this book. Rylan was the absolute best & sweetest guy ever. I can’t even describe how much I loved his & Channing’s story. They both had an ugly past & had made poor choices but they were trying to make the best of their situations. The way Rylan swooped in & wanted to be there for Channing & her unborn baby was the best. He didn’t care about DNA, that baby was his & I loved him for it. He worked so hard & just wanted to be able to give Channing everything she deserved. These two were absolutely perfect for each other & came into each other’s lives at the perfect time. Their chemistry was hot, their love was beautiful, & their connection was incredible. They had a wonderful support system around them. I loved Wyatt, everything he did for both of them was amazing. And I absolutely loved Clarence & Lula! They too were incredible to Channing.
This story is a must read and I can’t wait to dive into Wyatt’s story next!

WOW! This book starts a new series for Hayley Faiman. This story is about an ex con, out of prison and looking to have a new life and be a better person than who he was when he went into prison. It is also a story of a young woman, alone and pregnant who has been abused and needs a new direction in life. The two come together in a deeply emotional and heartfelt story. This story is just so very real, everything that happened caused me to experience so many emotions while reading . I felt as if I was there and knew these characters intimately as I was reading. As usual, Mrs. Faiman's writing is superb as is her character and story development. I am excited to see where this new series goes!!! I loved it!!

Consumes you

Convict was nothing less than perfect.

Rylan fresh out of prison, and ready for a new better life. Channing is just young girl who made a bad choice.

Channing comes into Rylan’s life when he wasn’t expecting her. He tried to ignore the pull, but he knew they needed each other.

That oh no moment you are waiting is just wow! I never seen it coming, but it wow.

I couldn’t read this book fast enough; It just consumed me. Convict is a phenomenal kick off to a great series. And I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Two flawed people make an absolutely beautiful couple

Loved it

Wow what a fantastic book!!!! I read this in just hours. Could not put it down . Both Channing and Rylan have been dealt a crappy life from the beginning. Now their being judged for sins they’ve committed by those around them. But they need eachother to get through all the mess. I love this book and can not wait for the rest of the books to come out!!!!!

I really wanted to love this book but by the end, I was literally skimming through just to finish. The storyline in my opinion is rather slow and boring. As I reached one of the bigger events in the book, I thought that there was going to be a turn around, but it went completely downhill again. I would read it five stars on the spicy scenes, but if you are looking for a really enjoyable, an interesting storyline, this book is not it.

This may definitely be some because of the heroines past, but I loved it. I love the whole concept of the normal ex con and not a suddenly billionaire ex con.

I wanted to read something a bit different from what I used to, and after reading the blurb I thought I had found the right now. Despite the MCs being quite different from the norm, I was expecting so much from both of them.
I wanted to believe that Rylan was there for the correct reasons, but some part of me always thought that it was pure guilt and an attempt to redeem himself.

Title: Convict (Unfit Hero, #1)
Author: Hailey Faiman
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating: 5/5

ARC received in return for an honest review.

Faiman is back with a brilliant start to a new series, which differs from her other work a little in the fact that it’s a bit more of a lighter/happier read, of course there were a good few bumps along the road for the main protagonists Rylan and Channning but from the very first interaction between the pair you just knew the were destined to be together, they shared an immediate attraction and intense chemistry nobody could have stopped them being together, even themselves.

This was a story of how two young people who’d both made mistakes were drawn together, and find themselves bringing out the best in one another. I thoroughly enjoyed the slight change of direction Faimen took with Convict and I’m really looking forward to seeing where it takes us readers next.
