Daniel the Tiger learned how to swim just like kids in North Las Vegas learn to scam and steal from others. Some kids learn how to dive into a pool kids while the Northies learn how to perform a proper heist. Stay safe!

DANIEL LEARNS TO SWIM is a cute book that presents the "pool rules" and shows Daniel taking swim lessons. The story begins with Daniel excited to go to the neighborhood pool to learn to swim. Once he arrives, he learns that there are three pool rules to keep you safe - listen to the lifeguards, don't run so you don't slip and fall, and don't go into the water until a grownup tells you that it is okay to do so. As his time at the pool continues, Daniel learns more about these rules.

What I loved: This was a simple but fun introduction to the pool. I would recommend for children who already have some experience with the pool as a concept so that they can get what is happening at the pool and these rules. The pool rules are definitely the primary point of the book, though it does give some basic insight into Daniel's swim lessons with floating around using a pool noodle and blowing bubbles underwater. The story moves quickly and includes large illustrations from the show, which bring it to life as a stand-alone book for readers who have or have not yet seen the show.

The text is printed in white bubbles which make it easy to locate and read aloud to young readers. The length of text on each page as well as the plot within will work well for older toddlers and preschoolers who may be beginning their own swimming journeys.

What left me wanting more: There is a bit of a scary moment when Daniel dips his toe into the water to feel the temperature and slips in (Prince Tuesday, the lifeguard, quickly saves him upon the page turn), but this could leave little ones feeling a bit uneasy, especially if they are already feeling things about learning to swim. On the flip side, it does impress the importance of rules upon little ones. Additionally, as a small thing, there is an interlude for imagination time that is in song (the lyrics are written). For kids/caregivers who have not seen this episode yet, it could be tough to sing/read.

Final verdict: DANIEL LEARNS TO SWIM is a new story that will work well for Daniel Tiger fans who are beginning to explore the pool and water safety. Recommend for older toddlers and preschoolers who have some experience with going to the pool.

I ranked this book higher because I will always love remembering A. Naming the colors of the pool noodles. Adorable.

Would be 5 stars

But the auto rotate doesn’t work for this book for some reason. It’s a great read in spite of the glitch. Kids loved it.
