Do The Thing is for you if you are full of ideas and need to see the worth of your work from an eternal perspective! Rebecca helps you see that your “cute little side hobby” is something worthy of your time and energy.

Do The Thing is also for you if you are already living a life on mission and you need practical insight, wisdom, and stories of inspiration to keep you going!

If you are tired of the world’s hustling message, but you also want to make steps forward in obedience (including knowing when to step away), this is the guidebook you need.

I adored the journal prompts in each chapter. You won’t just read this book, there is a chance to apply everything you’re cleaning right away!

The timing of reading this was divine - perfect. I felt like Rebecca George was my personal cheerleader, life coach, and spiritual supporter showing all the biblical reasons to "do the thing" - the thing God has called you to do. "No more excuses. Here's the way to get started!" It was the kick in the pants encouragement I needed. You don't have to feel like the Lord is calling you to something to gain insight from this book; all you need is a willing heart. Thanks, Rebecca!

Women today live in a culture in which we are encouraged and praised to hustle, strive, and fight to be “boss babes” in order to be successful. On the other hand, the Bible teaches us to live with humility and serve with love by laying down our lives. Do The Thing is a helpful resource to understand calling, goals, and productivity with a kingdom perspective. Working hard is good but we need to remember the ‘WHO’ it’s for and the ‘WHY’ it matters. Through her writing, Rebecca reminds us that the ultimate goal is God’s glory and the ultimate prize is His presence. We are called to obedience with excellence. This book is timely to help us understand how we can be go-getter women like Proverbs 31. This book is practical and encouraging!

“Do the Thing” inspires and gives insight into how to discover God’s calling for our lives. It encourages me to see my life through God’s lens, enabling me to “do the thing” that He places on my heart. It has given me straightforward, concise ways to live this out practically, discovering what to let go of, what to explore, and how to proceed. It is an essential book for women as we want to serve God best but often get sidetracked, distracted, or discouraged about how to proceed, if we heard God right, and how to balance our lives. Rebecca comes alongside us as a cherished friend and cheerleader, leading us from start to finish with personal stories and encouragement. This interactive book includes six video sessions for free via a QR code in the introduction. They are strategically placed after every two chapters in the book to encourage you along the way. These videos, prayer prompts, Scriptures for reflection, and goal planning will lead us to pray about what God reveals. Included are diagrams and charts that help us go further in discovering our gumption and grace.

If you're like me, you're excited about walking in your calling. This book gets us! Sometimes we can get in the way of what God wants to do, and we need an extra dose of encouragement and a godly game plan. This book does all that and walks us through practical steps in prioritizing what matters. Filled with biblical truth and beautifully written stories, this book will encourage and inspire you to walk boldly in your calling and purpose. I love the grace and gumption reflection questions, prayer prompts, and actionable exercises at the end of each chapter. Lots of golden quotes and some of my favs are, "While we indeed do not have it all together, we serve a sovereign God who does," (found in the Silence the Critic chapter we all need, amen?!), and, "We must remember the primary melody that threads through our lives: our faith and hope in Jesus Christ." Don't miss this gem, and grab a group of go-getter friends to journey through it together.

When I first heard Rebecca’s podcast, I asked myself where she had been all my life. And then to have the opportunity to read “Do The Thing” was the next level prayer that God had answered, as I was praying about my next step. As a messy girl in an exciting new season, I wanted to do “All the things” but knew God was asking for my stillness so I could truly listen to what He alone was saying.
This book is wisdom, y’all, packaged in a fun to read, actionable book filled with encouragement, strategies, and many AHA moments.
We all have purpose and Do The Thing will guide you through the reflection process, encourage a Godly growth mindset, and be your biggest cheerleader! We are not in this alone, and Rebecca’s down-to-earth, gracious approach has been consistently encouraging. She helps you find your God-given gifts and push fear aside, one page and prayer at a time. This book is for anyone wanting to pursue God’s calling for their lives! Girls- Do. The. Thing.

No matter what God has called you to do, or where you are in that calling, Rebecca is the encouraging friend that comes next to you and coaches you through the journey.  In this delightfully conversational book, she brings her experiences and scripture to meet you where you are in your journey and mentor you along the way.  With reflections and steps to help move you forward, the book is both edifying and motivating.  I've been following the Radical Radiance podcast for a while, and after waiting on clarification on what God was calling me to do or the "perfect time" to start, Do The Thing released.  In these pages, Rebecca reminded me that taking the next step, even when you don't know exactly where you're going to end up, is what faith is all about.

An amazing how-to guide for identifying and accomplishing the goals God sets before us!! So many passages hit home for me— from ensuring my goals align with God’s goals for my life to sticking to those goals when fear of failure sets in; from finding rest to staying in my lane. This book addresses so many pitfalls and challenges we might encounter with encouraging verses of scripture that help us see God’s plan in each step. I have no doubt it’s a book I’ll pick up again and again as life changes and new callings emerge, as God shuts old doors and opens new ones.

There is a manifesto at the end of each chapter. These read like affirmations to me— wonderful nuggets to save as my phone background, to post on my desk, to stick on the bathroom mirror. The one I needed most right now, “I hold my plans loosely, relying on God for wisdom and discernment…” from chapter 7.

I’ll be gifting copies of this book to several friends - a couple of soon-to-be retired educators who know that God still has a plan for them, a friend who’s leading in a church plant and sometimes feels they’re building the plane in the air, and my sanity sisters who have already helped me through so many life changes and challenges. It’s also a perfect graduation gift! I know this book will be a blessing to so many and can’t wait to share it.

Please read Do the Thing, regardless of your job or season. This book is not a feel good, self-help book, nor does it promote a hustle-at-all-cost posture. Instead it is a beautifully convicting and encouraging book anchored in God's Word to help you serve God and bring Him glory with your life! Delightfully practical, Rebecca addresses the "mystery" of living out our calling while addressing realistic challenges like discouragement, faithfulness, and leadership in a way that feels like you're talking to a friend. This is the kind of book you read with a pencil in hand, and just know you'll probably want to reread it as soon as you finish!

Do you have a dream deep inside? Maybe you're wrestling with how to start it or considering giving up on it entirely. Before you do, read this book. In this, Rebecca shares her journey and the hard-won truth of God's Word she's learned through it while sprinkling in some fun Shania and Dolly references as the true Tennessee-livin' girl she is. Begin to trust you can "do the thing" God placed on your heart because you're not doing it alone. God is faithful and He doesn't just give you a dream - He helps you live it out!

I loved the worksheet pages to help you really dive in and do the work so you can do the thing. So much more than a book you read once, I’ll be coming back to the wisdom, encouragement and practical action steps in this grace-soaked guide! Would highly recommend and would be really impactful to do in a group setting!

One of the best goal setting books I’ve ever read. Not only does Rebecca share how to set goals, but she encourages you to see your gifts and talents from a gospel perspective…. She shared how to prioritize them and how to partner with God to reach your goals.

I loved the space to put pen to paper and take action right away and was also encouraged by the videos Rebecca has created to go along with her book.

When you were beginning your own faith walk, did you ever wish that you'd had a spiritual mentor to help you navigate the path of perceiving your calling, and embracing it? I certainly did! And I'll admit that I rather stumbled into learning my calling, and the various ministries that I was able to participate in. Whether you had a mentor or did not, you are going to love Rebecca George's Do the Thing: Gospel-Centered Goals, Gumption, and Grace for the Go-Getter Girl. It is at once a guide, a workbook/journal, and even offers short video teachings for the reader--all to help Christians understand how to embrace their callings with grace, wisdom, and a dash of healthy understanding as well.

George covers topics like: comparison; time; striving vs. dwelling; being willing to do the "ordinary" as well as the exciting; being a generous encourager of those around you; and much more. In addition, she closes each chapter with thoughtful questions, Scriptures, prayers, and declarations so that the reader doesn't just take in the words, but uses them effectively for personal, spiritual, and ministry growth.

I found Do the Thing: Gospel-Centered Goals, Gumption, and Grace for the Go-Getter Girl to be a joyful, encouraging, and compelling read. I've made lots of notes on my own copy in my first reading, but I expect there to be more as I continue to take in these ideas and practices that will enable me to grow in effective ministry--but also in a healthy way (for myself, my loved ones, and those around me). I recommend this book highly. You'll enjoy it and find much to inspire you and spur you on as you serve others.

I received "Do the Thing" from the publisher. All my opinions shared here are my own honest ones.

Do you feel the Lord calling you to a particular area of ministry? Do you have a gift or talent that God is calling you to develop or fan into flames? Or perhaps a project or a creative idea has been stirring in your heart for a while but fear and perhaps a lack of clarity for the next step is causing you to put off pursuing that one thing?

Within the pages of her brand new, Gospel centered book, Rebecca George offers Biblical Truth, personal testimony, a practical guide, an encouraging manifesto and a godly way to view our calling rather than through the worldly lens of success and achievement.

Rebecca reminds us that taking the next step, even when we don’t know exactly where we’re going to end up, is what faith is all about. In her sweet and conversational way, the author guides us in combatting several road blocks that may deter many of us. These include but are not limited to: perfectionism, comparison and fear of failure.

Believing the lie that I was worthless and would never amount to anything in life, I adopted the “I will never have anything of value to offer to anyone” mindset when I was very young and the fear of failure became my number one obstacle to overcome in life. But I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that God was calling me to serve in women’s ministry. He deposited a burning passion in my heart to see women fall deeply in love with Jesus and be set free from the lies and bondage of the enemy.

As Rebecca reminded me in this lovely book: my part is to be obedient and I can leave ALL the results to God. He would never call us to ministry work and then let us fall flat on our faces. Instead, He invites us to come alongside Him and partner with Him as He Himself advances His Kingdom forward through us, all in His grace, His timing and always for His glory.

With thought provoking reflections and practical steps to help you to move forward into your God given calling, this book will both motivate and edify you in your calling. Rebecca blends storytelling with Biblical insight to encourage us to pursue and fan into flames the passion stirring in our souls.

If you are looking for a clear path to discover God’s calling on your life, and especially the time to make it happen, look no further than Do the Thing.

If you’re a fellow go-getter girl, you’ll love her chapter on The Tension of Time (boundaries and capacity). It’s easy to get ourselves overwhelmed by all the hats we wear and all the things we have to do and feel like we have to do it all.

Rebecca says: “The outcome is His. The obedience is yours.” But she doesn’t leave us there she equips us with how to set intentional boundaries that take into consideration our resources of time, money, and energy.

The prayer prompts in each chapter of Do The Thing help us to talk to God about any stumbling blocks along the way to meeting our God-given goals such as:

God help me see my time as a gift from you.
God help me Seek out better harmony in how I spend my time.
God help me make changes in my schedule that will allow you to serve you more efficiently.

I think my favorite part is the video series you can access inside the book. Rebecca is there to help you through each chapter as you reflect on scripture and apply it to your goals.

Do the Thing would be such a cool book club for you and your girlfriends, or your online besties, to go through together. Or if you prefer to study at your own pace to discover God’s calling on your life, this is the book for you!

As a new mom, my time is short and energy is limited, but I craved finding moments to dive into this gem. Rebecca’s message is for us “go-getters” whose dreams and goals excite us–but also sometimes steal our sleep and peace. Her message on fighting comparison especially hit home, as the writing industry is full of setbacks and rejection, and it can be easy to compare our journey with someone else’s.

Another challenge I needed from this book is to take my thoughts captive instead of letting them take me captive. As Rebecca says, it’s far too easy to “get caught in thought patterns that aren’t encouraging my progress” (178). She walks us through how to take a thought-life inventory to help us silence our inner critic and turn toward godly thinking. I underlined so many thoughts in that chapter and starred this line: “Choose to conquer that spiral of negative thoughts and to agree with how God sees you instead” (183).

So. Good.

At the end of each chapter, Rebecca includes prayer prompts with space to journal (something we creatives love to do); Scriptures for reflection; additional space to journal about goals, gumption, and grace; and “manifesto” statements to orient our thoughts about ourselves and our “glory goals” heavenward.

In short, I loved this book and hope to return to its pages again soon.

As a high achiever, I appreciated the affirmation, encouragement, and practical tips in this book. It's a good reminder to slow down and be more intentional in trusting God while pursuing my goals.
My favorite quotes:
“Our striving will cease in the presence of our sovereign, all-knowing God.”

“When God compels our hearts to action, we often feel that it’s a forever assignment when sometimes it’s not.”

“Sometimes, all someone needs to shine their light a little brighter is one person to call out their gifts. What if we all made that our mission?”

“When we can lean on one another’s shoulders, borrow one another’s courage, and speak into each situation with genuine love and concern, we are all more effective for the gospel.”

“It’s possible for our priorities, work, and relationships to harmonize and create the beautifully layered life that God intended for us.”

“God is never too busy or rushed to tend to your heart’s cry when you’re struggling.”

I encourage you to pick up your own copy of this book that is great for individual or group study!

Rebecca George writes an encouraging guide to stepping into what you believe God is calling you to do. Even though I'm an older “go-getter girl,” I have found this book inspiring and timely. It doesn’t matter your age, God’s calling on your life brings a sense of purpose and adventure.

Rebecca immediately draws you in with her easy, down-to-earth style and stories that give you a clear picture of what she’s communicating. She encourages. "Keep showing up. Every day. Because God’s work in you is worth it. God’s glory made known on this side of eternity is worth it."

This interactive book includes space at the end of each chapter for your ponderings. In addition, prayer prompts, scripture reflection, goals, gumption and grace provide a place for readers to record their insights. Six video sessions accompany the book and help you get to know and appreciate the author even more.

"Do the Thing" is a delightful read and I'm inspired to continue doing “the thing” God is calling me to do in my life!

Do the Thing Review
I’m going through a perplexing and difficult season right now.
Few books have stirred me to open their pages lately. But when I read the description for Rebecca George’s book, “Do the Thing: Gospel-Centered Goals, Gumption, and Grace for the Go-Getter Girl,” I had to read it. I have not been disappointed. Rebecca has encouraged me with her lovely writing full of godly wisdom, personal reflection, and practical guidance for women who believe they have been called to use their gifts and talents for God’s kingdom.
Not only does Rebecca share her own joys, frustrations, and triumphs in ministry, but she offers her readers the opportunity to chart their own unique journeys with chapter prayer prompts, questions for reflection, and goal setting. She even has links to companion videos for “Do the Thing.”
Rebecca shares that she almost gave up in her years-long quest to write this book. A lot of women –and the people who love them—will be blessed that she remained faithful to God’s call to inspire others to fulfill their own callings.

When I saw the list of authors who had written endorsements for this book, I was excited because I’ve read a lot of their writing as well. After the first chapter, I had mentally added it to the top my list of favorite books to recommend. I even messaged a few close friends and family members and told them to make sure they grabbed a copy! Its life-changing and inspiring only a few pages in. I began reading the book thinking it was someone with a specific goal, like writing a book, starting a business or going into ministry. But it is, but it is also so much more. Its also for the ordinary person who wants to do real life bring glory to God. This book captivated my interest and motivated me to DO THE THING. I can't wait to see what God does next!

Are you ready to break away from the lies that the enemy tells you and "do the thing" that you are called to do? Gosh, this book is for you! Rebecca has a way of writing that makes so much sense.

The videos, prayer prompts, and space for taking notes and journaling have been instrumental in pursuing the thing that I feel called to do. Not to mention the many highlights I made page after page.

"Scrappy gets us past the start line. Intentional helps us endure the hard days." - I love this reminder that God will lead us to make an intentional move over the scrappy one. All we have to do is listen to His voice and be obedient to His leading.

I can't wait to recommend this book to all my friends!

Each of us are on mission for the Kingdom and Rebecca does a wonderful job of teaching the reader that their impact for the Kingdom is vitally needed because of the unique way God has created each of us. She beautifully balances scripture, stories, and encouragement alongside practical tools and questions. This is not the typical personal pep rally book, this book is more than that. It guides you toward seeing the particular way God made you as a true gift that has Kingdom purpose right where you are. You will finish feeling equipped and empowered to Do the Thing!

Throughout the pages she uses personal examples and Biblical truths to guide us on our glory goal journeys. Practical questions at the end of each chapter help prompt reflections and discussion.
