Trapped and taunted with a deadly heat barrelling toward me, I’m separated from the only men I’ve ever trusted.
Handing myself over to the enemy didn’t go as planned.
My captor isn’t the cruel man I thought he was. Shan is lost in the past, insistent on dealing with his trauma alone. Caspian is fighting against his nature, putting us all at risk. Ozzy is growing distant and restless, but is silenced by his curse. Emmett is battling to keep everyone together.
As past actions threaten to tear apart our tentative trust, one question hangs over my head…
Am I safer staying put, or trying to escape?
All I know for certain is for this heat, it’ll be far too dangerous alone.
Dangerous Heat is the second book in a why choose/polyam romance trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger (estimated release for book 3 is May 2023). If you’ve read Frayed Trust (and you should have!), you already know, but the guys love each other too (m/m content)! Content warnings are similar to those in the first book, but please check the author's note if you need to.
Olivia Lewin loves all things sex, love, and magic. That's what drew her to reading and writing why choose/polyam romance and PNR in general. She wanted to write all the books that she couldn't find already created.
In her novels you'll find all manner of heroes from all walks of life, and a strong encouragement for everyone to love everyone. M/M love between harem members is a staple of her writing.
Dangerous Heat picks up where we left off in Frayed Trust, with Freya willingly going with the man who she thinks kidnapped her cousin… Only Freya soon learns she’s been taken by someone else entirely, only this one has the same vested interest as herself.
While chilling in a cell and tormenting her captor with her snarky banter, Shan goes AWOL when he learns of Freya’s capture, losing his mind a little as his past and present blur together in the need to save her.
Meanwhile Emmett and Cas FINALLY get their moment, but don’t get to seal the deal as they, with the help of Oswald, track Freya down.
Luckily, or maybe unluckily, all three men AND her familiar get captured and reunited with Freya, but the clock is ticking down on not only her heat but on their heads… A bounty is out for the five of them, and crap really hits the fan…
The ending of Dangerous Heat has me hella excited for the next book and how things will pan out for Freya and her mates, especially with these new additions!

4.5 stars. So I’m still really liking it. But I’m a little bummed out. So, while I’m enjoying the relationships and the sex and everything happening, it has shifted even more towards favoring Caspian as the center of the group, and I really wish Freya was getting more growth and attention. And I’m not really even talking about sexually. It’s more of a emotional and ‘screen’ time thing that I’m talking about.
It just seems to me that no one in the group is really obsessed with just Her. Ozzy is more interested in Nolan. Nolan likes Freya but feels inferior. Shan has been with Cas longer and is more emotionally connected to him. Emmett really only has eyes for Cas. Though he likes Freya, he needs more time with her to start feeling anything intimate for her. And Freya finds them all sexually attractive and has feelings for them but is holding herself back from All of them in one way or another, all for different reasons… It just doesn’t feel cohesively like a group. It’s more like a bunch of separate relationships all clashing at this point and it’s really frustrating.
I don’t know y’all. It’s just not going how I want, and it’s kind of putting me in a funk. I’m gonna continue on to the next book, but if something doesn’t shift I don’t see myself finishing it…
I am still blown away by how talented Olivia Lewin is at writing, none of her books have disappointed. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of Dangerous Heat and yet again, as soon as I started reading, I could not put it down.
I honestly don't know who I love more, Freya, Cas, Shan, Emmet or Nolan (*Spoilers*) ~ Heck I can't forget Oswald!!!! Each character has their own quirks and moments that just make you fall in love with them.
The book does continue off the cliffhanger from book 1 and dives straight into the action. The boys find out Freya's secret, and she finds out theirs - its all super gripping and makes for a really entertaining read.
I really liked how the characters were given their own POV's, it really worked well in this book.
I cannot recommend these books more, they are honestly amazing and Olivia Lewins world building and character development is top tier.
The only reason this gets a 2 from me really is I’m selfish and want attention. In the harem Freya isn’t the main attention and that bugged me so much. I dnf’d book 3 because I got tired of the main attention not being Freya…. But I also read book 3’s near ending and I understand why she’s not, but still😅. Shan also annoyed me. Nolan and Oswald were my favorites. The whole harems dynamic made it kinda feel like Freya was the odd man out, tbh, but again I’m selfish and would need attention so idk if that’s an accurate description of their dynamic. Like Cas had Shan and Em, and Nolan had Oswald.. in my head it seemed no one really had Freya or that she had anyone.

absolutely loved the first book - didn’t like the second one
I absolutely loved the first book- didn’t like the second one that much. The ending and some parts were good.
Basically- corruption went too far with every organization being corrupt - therefore why be with anyone, the entire Nolan addition I didn’t really care for - he cheapened the other mates as all of her other mates lost their intelligence and abilities and - Nolan had to save them all.
The heroine didn’t come off as a strong heroine in this - she was strong in the first book- this one she was a passive prisoner- then again I didn’t care for Nolan- and the other mates didn’t do well either.
The evil vampire should’ve been taken care of in this book and her sister rescued in the next.
I’m not too sure I’m keen on he quickness that emotions evolve in this series - but that’s a me thing, not this book thing. Overall, it’s a smooth read with decent character development and a couple surprises.
I feel like the second book was mainly just sex . I’m glad the familiar is now back to being a man , I figured he would eventually become one again. Not much more on the story line though. Just sex and talking. The fmc is way to rude and hateful as well. I thought she would get better after the first book, I mean she’s an omega , and while I like a strong fmc , other than sex , she’s not even close to being an omega. If anything Cas is and he is an alpha. I feel like the book should be about him really. He has more of the harem then she does and nothing has really happen bad to her to cause her to be that way. Yeah her sisters situation, but she hasn’t even attempted to figure out a way to find her sister. Just killing alphas because they are nasty in general. Not once has she tried to get to her sister . Other than that , it isn’t like Freya has been in a relationship with a alpha who’s beaten her or raped her, nor has she been abused or mistreated by one. So her hatred and hostility for all alphas and people in general makes no sense . She’s only being hunted because of her going around killing random alphas . Knowing if she didn’t want people knowing she was an omega she wouldn’t have been doing it in the first place. Common sense would tell anyone that. Hoping the rest of the books end up better. I feel like it’s all MMMMM at this point
I really enjoyed the first book not so much this one. The character of Caspian was just too needy even by needy standards. There really wasn’t much in the way of character growth. The addiction of Nolan was intriguing and is probably what will make me read the next book.
Olivia Lewin has done a marvelous job with Dangerous Heat. The second book in her Frayed series was a fabulous read with a surprising (who am I kidding it wasn't that surprising) body count, more than a few revelations, and of course high heat.
Freya is still being Freya, giving as good as she gets it but she's also more vulnerable than she's ever been. Not only did she give herself up for her cousin and is trapped but she was also going into heat. Things aren't as dire as they seem and this timeout is giving not only Freya but the guys as well a much need time to examine their feelings.
Everybody is owning up to their feelings, Freya is in denial a little less about hers, Caspian "Cas" is questioning less, Shan's mask is off and the emotional indifference is gone. Turns out he's just as twisted as Freya, they make quite the pair, and they aren't the only ones. Even Emmett "Em" is admitting things, some to others and some only to himself. A fair amount of relationship issues get settled but there's still more to work on.
This was the book, the tea was split. Finally, readers got a little more details about Freya's older sister and I'm curious if that's gonna be resolved in this series. The guys' true mission was finally revealed and really it wasn't what I expected in the first book, I'll admit that Shan could have saved everyone a lot of time if he just told Freya in the beginning. There is also a new character, Nolan is a bit of a contradiction like all the other main characters. Nolan is a beta vampire who has the respect and power that is stereotypical of most alphas, is just as dangerous, and is just as adorable as Cas. I like him, a lot, but he does have emotional issues just like Cas. They're kinda two peas in a pod. Lastly, Oswald's "Os" make some leeway on his curse with quite a surprising outcome. Kylan is getting desperate and the government has proven itself to be just as horrible as I assumed. Things have gotten complicated starting with one heck of a switcheroo, building shaky alliances, and the vampire mafia hellbent on getting what they want.
While Dangerous Heat may have answered a few things, I still have a whole lot of questions. However, the question that intrigues me the most is who was that woman at the end? I have a feeling she may be an important figure, and she obviously knows some things. So many things were left up in the air, Olivia is killing me with these cliffhangers, and I'm really hoping that the release date for the next book, Forged Bonds, gets pushed up.
This has now become a Nolan stan account and if he has no fans left in the world it is because I am no longer here. I love him so much.
This book picks up right where we left off with the first novel which I love. No weird time skips thankfully.
We get to (kind of) know Em and Shan better in this book which was something I was excited for.
But most of all we got to meet Nolan>. Also known as my current book boyfriend. I am not sure what it is about him that I adore so much but it is there. He is coming from such a good place and he is working through so much from his past my heart went out to him so many times. I cannot imagine what he went through growing up and I think that makes his character so compelling to me. That and his relationship with Oswald made my heart so warm.
I also love that Caspian met hime and was like yep this one is mine too now.
This book is way more spice heavy than the first book. I would honestly say outside of the race to find Feyra, Nolan's chapters, and Oswald's chapters the book was straight up smut.
I get that it was probably to make up for the lack of spice in the first book but it was a bit much because we got almost no plot development due to that. Which is why I didn't love this book as much as the first one.
The other minor issue I had was with Feyra which is hard for me since I loved her so much in the first book. I just feel like we kept hearing the same things over and over from her this whole book about the heat, marking, and just her relationships as a whole. Like girl we get it but let us move this party along. I just felt like because we were getting so much smut we lost a lot of who she was. Like her relationship with Oswald was no-existent most of this book.
I am excited for the third book coming out in a few days so I can get some closure on questions I have and also get more yummy Oswald and Nolan goodness.
This book picks up right where we left our beloved characters. Where book 1 felt a bit slow, this one picked up the pace and really delivered some great action and spice between characters.
I love how Freya is learning to trust and show her emotions. She came off a bit cold and standoffish in book 1 (for good reason!), and she's really come far. Caspian is finally telling his partners that's its not just feeding and things are moving along nicely in everyone's relationships. Some new characters are introduced, including Nolan, who might be the most adorable cat-loving kidnapper who wins the award for Worst Dressed ever.
The world-building is strong, the characters amazing, I really enjoy the banter and humour and the authors take on Omegaverse. I'm excited to see Freya embrace her inner Omega. I love the diversity in the Alphas
At times it felt like Freya was a bit on the sidelines when it came to spicy scenes, but I think the author does a great job with polyamory, as this is definitely a polyamorous group and not a reverse harem. Everybody gets some loving from almost everybody. I'm excited to see how Nolan and Ozzy play into the group. It's interesting that there's a demisexual character too!
Even though most of this book takes place inside one house it doesn't feel slow or stagnant. There's plenty of action and emotional meetings and scenes between the different characters. I wish we got to know Emmett a little bit better, it feels like Nolan got a lot of the attention that maybe Emmett had deserved (but don't get me wrong - I love Nolan!).
There are a few sideplots that hint at where the story might be going and I'm here for it. I just hope it doesn't get to complicated or that the author doesn't take on too much. I'm excited to see where this goes!
Olivia Lewin did so well with the continuation of Freya's story. We get some secrets revealed, some new budding relationships, and a few surprises thrown in there as well.
I love that in this book some of the characters' designations don't define them. Freya is such a strong and self-reliant omega, Cas is an alpha with omega-like tendencies and needs, and Nolan is beta with the respect of an alpha. It is all very nice to see how the designations differ from some other omegaverse books. You never know what you are going to get with this group!
With the introduction of a few new characters in this book, I am very excited to see how feelings develop between everyone and Freya as well as some other possible M/M situations that could happen as the series continues. I think the one I am most interested in is probably the newest possibility as there seems to be such a pull from one of the characters to another. We shall see what happens!
The ending of this book was great! I think it leads up to the next book well and provides so much intrigue on what could happen next for this group. Some of it will be quite obvious with Freya's hrat situation, but everything else is totally up in the air. I am not entirely sure what is in store for them, only that I am sure it will be a wild ride. I am hoping it eventually leads them to finding and rescuing Freya's sister and bringing down the alpha that essentially bribed him way into owning her, but that might be a ways down the road.
Another really great read by Olivia Lewin! I was really impatient for this book because I absolutely loved the first one and was very curious about what would happen to our characters. And although the pace of the book is pretty different I can honestly say that I enjoyed it just as much!
Whereas in the first one, there is a lot of action mixed with a lot of character and world building, this book was centered around the different relationships between all the characters. Not to say that there isn’t any action because there was and one scene in particular was savage. But most of the book gives us a really thorough look into the different characters thoughts and how they feel about all the others which I found really interesting. And the more I know about them, the more I fall in love with them (especially Caspian whom I just want to hug and protect from the world). Also, let’s not forget the steam because… it gets pretty hot in there… The story progressed in a way that makes me really curious about the future of our characters and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
TW: As mentioned at the beginning of the book there are triggering subjects in this book so please be careful if you have TW ❤️
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by the author.
Book 2 is finally here. With Freya being separated from the only men she trusts and a dangerous heat looming she isn’t sure whether she should stay where she is or attempt an escape. Freya’s kidnapper is not at all who I expected it to be but that just makes it even better. As he isn’t the cruel man she thought he would be. Shan is a slave to his past in this book reliving an old life with the memories from that past haunting him but doesn’t want to admit to anything avoiding all help. Caspian is fighting who he is and just trying to avoid it it all costs. Ozzy still isn’t able to say anything about his curse or anything relating to it. Let’s also just say the steam factor in this book is off the charts. I definitely was not expecting thing to go the way they did in book 2 the author has out done themselves in this one can’t wait to see what happens next.
This book picks up where book 1 left off. Freya is kidnapped by someone and her guys, Caspian and Shan, are upset that she is missing. Emmett, the missing teammate goes to the club where everything went down and witnesses Fresh being taken. He also realizes that she is the killer they are hunting and the one who took his memories. Fresh is strong so she naturally takes being taken as an opportunity to cause habit. This book didn't have slot of spice but what spice was in there was pretty good and you get to see the blooming of the different relationships (Emmett\Caspian, Caspian\Shan, Freya\ Caspian, and Freya\ Shan). There is also an interesting new relationship developing with a beta named, Nolan who is also the kidnapper.
I really liked the twist in this book. For personal preference at times I did struggle to fully get in to certain parts though. I am not big on relationship angst and in this relationship dynamic there is so much! I absolutely love poly stories however I do feel at times Cas was at the center and not Freya and I know it had a lot to do with his prior relationships with the other men. And Freya 🤦at times she had me yelling because her character can be FRUSTRATING! but the main take away I have is did this book keep me entertained absolutely I read the entire book in 1 day. And that cliffhanger had me wanting to see what happens next. (even with all of the relationship drama)
This second book is just as good, if not better, than the first. There’s so many moving pieces in this story, but I never felt like any parts of it were forgotten, nor did I find myself lost. Freya is such a fun character and I enjoy her reactions, and the fact that she doesn’t love her designation. AND we meet a fun new character that I love. I also love how the author focuses on the relationships between the men just as much as she does on Freya’s relationships with them. Also… that ending? We need to have a talk!!! I kept trying to turn the page because I wanted more. I can’t wait for the next book!
Dangerous Heat starts off right where the first book ended. Though unlike the first one, where world building was the main goal, this book concentrates more on character development and explores the relationships between all of characters. Because of this, the reader learns more about why each character is the way they are. I absolutely love this because I become more invested in the story and all of the amazing characters. I loved the action and all of the spice that this book had as well. All in all, an amazing continuation of the series.

I have yet to read anything by this author I didn’t love. This follow up to Frayed Trust introduces us to new characters, a new love interest (possibly!), all new group dynamics as a whole. She left us on a cliff hanger, but one that promises we will dive right into the action in book 3.
This book was everything I wanted it to be, and I can’t wait for more!!.

Omg I love love love the new characters in book 2! I can’t wait to see how everything shakes out in the next book! I should be used to this author leaving me with these ginormous cliffhangers in every book I have read of hers…But they just don’t get any easier. I’m going to stew on the ending of this book until the next one comes out. Which is fantastic and horrible… I can’t wait to be tortured more.
The Heat is on!!! This one from the beginning didn't disappoint. The guys are figuring things out and Freya just has to be all self sacrificing. But WHO did she let kidnap her? hmmm
This one is good, so good, it'll keep you guessing. You are going to laugh, so you're warned. There's some spice and a little everything nice.
We got a cliffhanger after a BIG revelation, so be warned. I am eagerly awaiting the next book...
I think it’s my fault I didn’t enjoy this book, I should of researched it a little more.
There’s too much m/m for me to fully enjoy this, I prefer books where they’re wholly obsessed with the FMC and some m/m on the side, it felt too much like the FMC was just added to a fully formed male throuple for me.
Also caspian is so omega coded, he’s the least alpha - alpha I’ve read in any omegaverse and whilst I liked him it just wasn’t what I wanted when reading an omegaverse book.
The next installment in this series was brilliant, picking up from where we left off in frayed trust and giving us more characters to fall in love with. This book certainly picks up the heat, making the title "dangerous heat" make total sense. I cannot wait for the next book to see what happens next.
I liked Frayed Trust. I loved Dangerous Heat!! The storyline was different than I had thought but it was so much better! And the character that was introduced in this book may be my new obsession. And the ending..I can't wait for the next book, it'll be sooo good!.

I am loving this series from Olivia Lewin. There were times I was worried for the characters, and other times, I was laughing out loud at a snarky comment Freya said. I'm not usually one for PNR, but this is definitely an exception. A great read to end 2022.
This was such a page turner. Loved the new characters! Can’t wait to see how Freya and Nolan’s relationship will develop!! These men are so cute and heartwarming.
Please give me the next book.

Frayed Heat is the second book in the Frayed series. There are some amazing twists and revelations. I really enjoyed the development emotionally between Freya and her guys. It is a very intriguing read that while answered a few questions have me asking many more.
This is the second book in the series and has lots of HEAT. This book answered a lot of my questions from the first but has left me with so many more. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
