"I'm not the one for you, Bennett. I reject you..."

She was the only woman I ever loved.

One look was all it took, and I knew. Mate. Mine, and mine alone.

I'd have set the world on fire for her.

It never crossed my mind that she wouldn't want me, not until she rejected our bond and walked away. Forever, I believed. But then she strolls back into my life and tells me she made a mistake.

Her rejection cut so deep I never recovered. Letting her back into my life isn't an option. I still want her. That will never change, but her next cut will destroy me.

There's no woman I'll ever want more, but she's ripped my heart out once. But twice?

Never again.

Unwanted by Eve Bale is the fourth book in her Mate Rejected series. While it can technically be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the previous books first, as characters and events from them are referenced here, and you might feel a bit lost without context.

Wolves mate for life. To meet yours, find completion when you meld with the other half of your soul, and have that person destroy you out of the blue… Five years ago, Helena Morgan nearly killed my wolf. She nearly killed me. 🐺💔

Unfortunately, Unwanted was my least favorite book of the series, largely because it leans into the "I'm not talking to you to protect you" trope—where everything could have been solved if the characters just talked. This kind of plot device tends to frustrate me 😤, and I felt it was the main driver of the tension between Helena and Bennett.
“You destroyed me, Helena.” I train my gaze on the car engine that I don’t give a shit about fixing. “I wish you’d died. Maybe then the grief would have ended. Or maybe it wouldn’t have. But I’d have had a reason.”💔

Still, I couldn’t help but feel for Bennett. Without an explanation, he got rejected and has never really recovered. When the mate who rejected him comes back into his life old wounds get reopened and he is not as trusting as he once was. There was then some drama and action and of course a happy ending. I personally think Helena could have ended it with at least somewhat of an explanation. To me Bennett was also a bit too understanding for all the hurt she caused him with her actions.

Overall, Unwanted was a good read 📚. The writing was easy to follow, and there were some sweet moments 🍭, spicy scenes 🌶, and emotional heartache 😢. However, it didn’t leave a lasting impact on me, and I don’t think I’ll remember this one for long.

Emotional

This story was emotionally charged from the start. Secrets and lies made a riveting drama that was entertaining to read. I thought the characters were wonderfully engaging and found myself rooting for them. The revelations made everything clear but given how the author created the characters for the previous books, I wasn’t surprised by them. I was intrigued, entertained and inspired by their love for each other. I can’t wait to read more.

✅Werewolf romance
✅Fated mates

Bennett lost the one woman he’s ever loved; he would have set the world on fire for her. He never saw the rejection coming, several years later she shows up telling him she’s made a mistake…

“I loved you with every fiber in my body.” My voice breaks. “And you ripped my fucking heart out. For no fucking reason.”

My heart hurt for both characters. Helena with the secret sitting on her shoulders and Bennet because I’ve been in the same shoes he has.

nice end for Bennett

For sure a short book the story had an overwhelming amount of angst. Like somehow Bennett, the slighted party, seemed truly insufferable. The underlying lie went unsaid for so long for all of it to be wrapped up so quickly, which of had to be being it was under 200 pages, but wow what a whirlwind. It had a good ending though.

Rejected with no hope for a future.

The past catches up with 2 true mates. Can they ever come to an understanding. Will love win out or will it die as it did in the past. You need to read their story to find out.

Book 4

Really enjoyed reading about Bennet and Helena relationship. Learning the truth of what occurred really into their relationship after they found out they were mates. I won’t spoil it for anyone so I won’t go into too many details.

If you haven’t read the previous book it feels like you start in the middle of this one…I keep missing parts of what should’ve been there.
