Genre: Childrens Picture Book

Bibliography: Johnson, J., TotalBoox,, & TBX,. (2016). If I had some hoverpants. Place of publication not identified: Frederator Books.

Response: I read this book through the website https://www.getepic.com/app/read/10062.

A silly little book for younger readers, this book has no real plot and instead relies heavily on the melodic writing style and the colorful unique drawings. Taking on the iconic character Catbug, readers will be drawn into reading about their hypothetical question on "If they had some Hoverpants." This book would be great for introducing writing tropes like alliteration to young readers who may be starting poetry or more complex writing styles for assignments. This book is great for reading just for the sake of reading, without having some overall moral lesson or theme that has to be discussed with the students. For children looking to read as a way to decompress, relax, or introduce them to newer words, this book would be a good selection for that in class and in personal libraries.

I like the part when he was getting away from the cop.

Hoverpants is absolutely reminiscent of "Catbug speak" and it wouldn't surprise me to hear some of these in the show (which makes sense since the author writes for the show). It references certain aspects of the show but overall is all original and deserves its own separate recognition. The good thing about these books is that they appeal to everyone, from younger children to teenagers to adults, Catbug books have something for everyone.

This book makes me laugh because it's just so random! I'd love to know where Jason James Johnson comes up with these ideas. As usual, Catbug is the cutest. And honestly the only thing I really don't like about this book is that it's a total tease, because it puts the idea in my head that I, too, could have some hoverpants, and sadly they only exist in Catbugland (that I know of!)

The illustrations were cute but the writing was uneven and randomly started and stopped rhyming. Cute for Catbug but should have been rewritten a coupla times.

Very cute and funny, I love the idea of Hoverpants. Catbug's voice really makes this book! The art is great, I love Catbug's facial expressions!
