I swore off bikers and my family’s motorcycle club, and enrolled in nursing to save lives instead of taking them.
When a rival club murders my father, my brother orders me to infiltrate and avenge him. I’m the only one who can get close without being recognized.
Destroying my enemies from within won’t be the hard part. Hiding my identity will be, and it won’t be long until the Jackals discover my secret, and I wind up like my dad.
Inside their club, the lines between executioners and truth blur with what I learn about my dangerous and disarming enemies. We’re not just adversaries, we’re fated mates, and I’m fighting the mate bond convincing me we belong together.
Whatever happens, one thing is clear: the Jackals are my damnation and my salvation, and I’m going to burn in hell with them.
Cursed Mates is book 1 in the Jackals' Wrath MC series featuring a stubborn, yet strong heroine and four love interests with a guaranteed and rewarding HEA. If you love shifters, fated mates, Egyptian mythology, this is the series for you! This is a reverse harem, why choose series contains dark elements with trigger warnings, suitable for 18+ readers. There is no bullying from the men to the heroine who treat their woman like a goddess. Ideal for fans of Tate James, Crystal Ash, and Grace McGinty.
What do you get when you cross a motorcycle club and Egyptian mythology? Curse of the Gods, the roller coaster ride that is book 1 of the Jackal's Wrath MC series by Skyler Andra. I read this book in one sitting. Rivalry, guns, drugs, fated mates, magic, deception and betrayal all come to life within these pages. The characters are complex and well written, the action is fast paced. If you are looking for a book to take you on an exhilarating joy ride, then this is the book for you
This one was really different from over books I've read. I loved it all the same. Biker, gods and a curse. I was on the edge of my seat at some parts and now I just need more.
I've read a couple of reverse harem MC books and I've read enemies-to-lovers before as well, so when I discovered Curse of the Gods a reverse harem MC that centers around mythology I struck gold. I thought I was ready... I was not prepared for all the shit that went down in this book. This story ruined me, my emotions are shredded. WTF! Now I have to suffer who knows how long until the next book because that ending was brutal and nothing is gonna be okay until I read the next book.
The gods and goddesses are back, sort of. The gods were banished from our world long ago but they still act through avatars. The avatars aren't the Gods themselves but they do have godlike powers and do the gods will on Earth. People don't know about the avatars, it's a closely kept secret while the world of the gods' playout around them.
Aaliyah is an ER nurse and the avatar for the goddess Isis. Her whole goal in life is to heal people and while she does and does an excellent job at it but having the goddess powers sure does help. Aaliyah is a naturally caring person but she has a backbone too, she speaks her mind as is sassy which the guys will come to know.
Growing up with her dad as the leader of the Wolves MC Aaliyah has witnessed a lot and decided the MC life isn't for her and goes off to college. Then when she accidentally infiltrates the Jackals, a rival MC, she learns that the Jackals aren't what she expected and that things aren't adding up. The guys aren't perfect but they aren't the bad guys that she thought they were. The guys are avatars for the gods as well, they protect not only their own but others as well, the work for their community. They are kind caring and open, especially with her. They might not be saints but they aren't the bad guys in this situation. Aaliyah gets close to all of them, each with their own issues but the gods say they are fated and the draw is real. I like the guys even with their issues, they were sweet and the chemistry was real, not just the mate bond but the connection was there with them as people as well. I really hope Aaliyah and the guys can work things out.
Enough of the stressful, my favorite part of this book is how steeped it's in Egyptian mythology. Egyptian mythos is written about much and Skyler has done a fantastic job describing the gods, from their personalities to their relationships and the description of their powers is awesome. Unlike with other books I've read the mythology is heavy in this one and their powers are used quite often in their lives.
Curse of the Gods was a fantastic read, Skyler Andra is a new to me author and has done a fantastic job blending MC and mythology with gang drama, moral dilemmas, filled with steam, and relationship issues. Not to mention the little mystery of who killed Alexander Heller and what exactly is going on. I have my theories and so do the guys but it has yet to be proven and after all the heartache at the end of Curse of the Gods, I am waiting with bated breath for the continuation of the story.
WOW! What a start to a new series is this book!! Because it is the first book, we get a lot of information and background on the characters and it is a little slower paced mainly due to that fact (which is great because you really get invested in the series). I know there is so much more to come both action-wise, steam factor, and character development. I will admit that I was on the fence on the star system it is more of a 4.5 to me at this current time.
Aaliyah is our FMC and she has sworn off the life of MC life and biker boys. Her father was shot and his killer has not been caught yet. Her brother wants her to infiltrate a rival MC to get the dirt on the president but she is adamant to stay away. Unfortunately, the fates have other ideas for her and she soon finds herself in the middle of the Jackels MC. Not only is she there unwillingly, but apparently she is fated mates to four of the club members. Members that have no idea who she really is and if they did she would be dead. Will she be able to fight the mate bond and escape back o her real life? And what did happen to her father?
Skyler Andra is a phenomenal writer! I love all her books and I am always blown away. The details are on point and the descriptions of the characters, the way of MC life, and even the Egyptian gods are all on point. You do get a picture of what is going on and can see it all happening as you read. I love that it is based on Egyptian mythology- I don't think we get enough of it- so it's a fresh idea that has been brought to the reading table. The characters, mainly the men, all have their parts and there is no mistaking who is who in the ranks. Aaliyah is a stubborn and feisty woman who knows what she wants- well most of the time. She is a nurse and she only wants to help and heal people, hence why she left the MC before. There is a cruel twist or two in this book and it does turn things around and make you think.
This is the first book in a new series and I would recommend it! It is fantastic for RH fated mates fans, and fans of all sorts of mythology. I can not wait for book two.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
This book is awesome!! We meet Aaliyah an ER nurse who just wants to live her life as is away from the MC she grew up in. She thinks she is safe from that world until her brother shows up demanding she infiltrate a rival MC despite what she wants. She tries to refuse but he finagles events until she is already with them before she even knows it. Her brother is unaware that she is an avatar for an Egyptian God and so is part of the rival MC. This definitely makes for some interesting interactions as it all plays out. Makes for a fantastically awesome read that I couldn't put down. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
This is my first motorcycle club book, let alone a motorcycle club reverse harem, and it did not disappoint. The steam level was high in this one but not nearly as much sex as one would expect in a reverse harem, leaving room for a solid, intricate, and perpetually intriguing plotline.
Aaliyah Heller left the Savage Wolves, her family’s motorcycle club (MC) seven years ago after the death of her boyfriend. Dedicating her life to her work as a nurse, she still sees the outcome of violence on a daily basis, but now she is committed to helping those who suffer from it. The Egyptian goddess Isis has chosen her as a human avatar, and her healing abilities are a great help in her line of work, although Aaliyah chooses to keep them hidden as much as possible.
After her father is murdered in cold blood, her brother Danny requests that she infiltrates the MC gang suspected to be responsible: the Jackals. Refusing, Aaliyah returns to her job, but finds herself tending to the Jackal’s president, Slade, not days later. That is when, to her horror, the mating bond is created between them.
When a stranger assaults Aaliyah outside her hospital, the Jackals rescue her and treat her at their own women’s shelter. Deep in enemy territory, Aaliyah bonds with all four of her mates: Slade, Castor, Alaric, and Zethan, all of whom also each have an Egyptian god at their backs.
As Aaliyah plans to escape her protectors and return to her family, she connects with the men, and soon discovers that they may not have killed her father after all. So, who did?
There is a major plot twist in this book that I didn’t see coming, and the story ties many things up at the end while still having us clamouring for more.
Curse of the Gods is a well-written, entertaining, sexy as hell, unpredictable, and super gritty novel with some really unique elements. The men in this story aren’t just different personalities, they all have fleshed-out backstories that make reading them a real treat. Aaliyah as a protagonist is super interesting, especially because of her inner conflict between her family loyalties and her new found feelings for the men who rescued her. Incredibly well written characters in this one.
There’s only one thing that had me giving this one a four star instead of a five, and that was the long periods where there was lots of story development that involved talking, or driving places. The purpose of these moments often had high stakes, but it wasn’t conveyed so much in the interactions between characters or the actions they took.
Nevertheless, Curse of the Gods is a fantastic read, and I highly recommend it to urban fantasy fans. I can’t wait for book two!
Oh! What a wild ride! FMC watches her father be buried, killed by? Her brother wants vengeance, her mother wants peace, and Aliyah wants no part of the MC world again. She gets thrown into it anyways, but it's the Jackals MC she finds herself saved/trapped. She learns more about the avatars and gods. But all things must come to a head. Betrayal, love, death, war, drugs, fated mates, and gods. It's a recipe for destruction and this book gives it. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. War is coming and it will be an interesting ride.
This MC mythology fantasy was amazing! I absolutely loved the characters and loved how was get to see just enough to give us so many questions and having us readers eager to more, more and more. Aaliyah is such a strong and fierce FMC and those boys are perfect for her. I loved that there was lots of information on the boys and their club as I found it intriguing and exciting to read about. There are scenes throughout the book that will have you fanning yourself, biting your nails and forgetting the world around you in suspense on what will happen next. I need the next book asap! Any fan of Egyptian gods will devour this book just I have did! Bring on book two!
What a epic start to a new series! Skyler Andra has created a MC/Egyptian Gods world filled with complex and engaging characters you can’t help falling in love with. I was hooked from the first page until the last, I couldn’t put it down! I loved Aaliyah, and her and her men were just perfect together. This story is filled with drama, suspense, angst, fated mates, and love. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
OMG i could not put this down! What a fantastic start to this kick ass series! This fast paced urban fantasy read just grabs you from the very start as it introduces us to shifters with the power of Egyptian gods. It’s different, it’s exciting, it’s got drama and steam, omg the chemistry is off the charts and then you have the curses and Egyptian mythology which I loved! With a total bad ass Female mc and other fantastic characters I am eager to read more!
Omg this book is flipping awesome. I loved it from the first page and just hated that it ended. Need more more more now please. The female lead is strong sassy and determined and that’s before the truth about her is written. The guys well they are all tough with their own quirks but family is everything to them. What does the future hold I have absolutely no idea but I hope it’s a happy ending for all of them
I love this take on the Egyptian mythology lore. I definitely got some feels of gods of Egypt movie. Was happy to see the reference in this book as well. The characters are diverse and I love how it’s not an insta love. The characters all have to work and then that ending…wow. If you like steel demons from crystal ash, this is up you alley minus the dystopian feel. Well done.
Aaliyah is a nurse, but once her father is shot dead she won't stop at nothing to find the culprit even if it means going back to the MC life that she left behind. When she gets the chance to infiltrate the rival MC accused of killing her dad, she dives right in but she gets more than she bargained for. The four guys she's attracted to are lie her—avatar of Egyptian gods. Now Aaliyah is trying to find out more about her, her guys and her father's murder without letting the guys know who she really is.
This story grips you from page 1, and it ends with a cliffhanger. I'm really curious to see how the story will progress.
I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author, but I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.
Skylar Andra what gave you done?? Wow what a kicka$$ start to a new series by this very talented author. She has created a dark and dangerous world that grabs you by the throat has you completely enthralled from page one all the way through. And holy cliffhanger 😳, who are the bad guys in this book? What is going to happen between Aaliyah and the guys? Who killed her dad? I have so many questions and am excited to read more to discover this answers. And holy hot balls these guys…Slade he really brings his Avatar to life and is chaos, he is dark and dangerous but I cannot wait to see him go crawling to Aaliyah. Then there is Zethan is dark and intense who is surrounded by mystery and I want more from him, I want to get to know why he is so dark. Castor is the more intelligent but he is so dangerous too, he is going to be the one to break the curse in the long run, but this will be heartbreaking for them all and Aaliyah. Alaric is a follower and has been through so much trauma but you can see that Aaliyah is going to make him more complete…I cannot wait to get more in depth with all these characters. I cannot wait to see Aaliyah become more confident in her powers, own herself and make all the guys pay for what they put her through and for her to get revenge for her Farther’s death! I am excited to more and more from this dramatic, dark and dangerous world!
Ancient Egyptian deities ✅ Enemies to Lovers✅ Rival MCs ✅ Reverse Harem✅ Ancient Curses Fated mates ✅ Medium to Slow burn ✅
All Aaliyah wanted to do in life is to heal people. So, she left the MC and set out to pursue a career in nursing. After her father was murdered, she returns to a life she had longed to get away from. When an incident leads her straight to the Jackal's den (her family's Rivals), her world gets flipped upside down.
This....was....amazing!! This was a wonderful blend of MC, mythology, enemies to lovers/rivals. I was definitelyhooked from the very beginning. Aaliayah was a mix of badassary and a kind an compassionate soul. A lot of twists, turns, betrayal, a bit of steam but the chemistry between Aaliyah and her harem were off the charts. This is my first book from Skyler Andra and definitely left me wanting more! Can't wait to start the next one!
Wow, this book dragggggged onnnn. I had high hopes as I began reading because the main plot is good! Everything just progressed at a snails pace. Also, the glimpses of back stories on the characters was giving me whiplash and then the book ended without tying any of the backstories up. Like, stop bringing up bits and pieces of who Liz was. Lay it out for the readers because I don’t want to continue hearing about a non existent character in book two. I was hoping for some major spice as it’s a why choose. Not in this book, not until the end and even then I wasn’t impressed as it only involved the FMC with one of the men.
It needs some serious editing and rewrites and I don’t mean grammatically. The book has so many inconsistencies straight from the first chapter. First the ride she was gonna take work of for was gonna be 6 weeks then it was 2 weeks. Also when she meets the guys at the hospital for the first time she talks about how they are avatars coz of the marks on their eyes, then seems to forget that and a page later talks about it again like she never just said it before as if it didn’t happen. Things like this kept happening throughout. It just made it get so confusing. I gave up reading it.
Great start to this new series. Loved this entire storyline from start to finish. Really enjoyed that Mythology was used for story. Always love stories that have that. Loved Aaliyah and her story. This is one of those books that I must have the next one ASAP. Just so good. Definitely recommend.
Curse of the Gods is the first book in Skylar Andra's Jackal's Wrath MC (Operation Isis) series and it has some familiar names from the Hades & Persephone series I read, but this book is a real page-turner on its own. I was quickly swept away with this novel and I'm eager for the next in this series. Aaliyah is a nurse at a local hospital, but she is also the daughter of the dead president of the Wolves MC. Her father was murdered and all the "evidence" points to Slade, president of the Jackal's. She wants revenge for his death, but after what happened with her boyfriend, she walked away from the MC. Her brother is intent on getting her back in and using her in any way that he can. What he doesn't know about is her gift, being the avatar of Isis. Aaliyah says she won't help her brother, but after she gets jumped by a "mugger" she finds herself in their care at a shelter. There she begins the process of digging to help bring them down despite the mate bond that has flared to life and demands that they be together. This book has quite a few twists and surprises in it. It's a real page-turner of a paranormal romance novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like that the bond reacts differently with each of the men. It reacts in ways that are similar to them and that is definitely an interesting element. I have to admit that I'm disappointed with a few aspects of this story though. Aaliyah, for me, refuses to connect the dots until ti's all spelled out for her later in the book. Her brother shows up drunk to her job, trying to push her to infiltrate the Jackals and she refuses. Not long after she gets jumped. Then there are the guys. When it comes to MCs suspicion runs thick and wide. So why is it that when she's asking multiple pointed questions that they don't become more suspicious? When she gives lame excuses or responses they shrug it off and let it go and continue answering her questions. It's too "perfect" for the main character to gather the information she's automatically after. It's disappointing because I expected better from them. I'm rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. There are just too many situations of where the guys refuse to dig deeper into who she is and for a MC it's disappointing. I like the twists, the danger and the steamy, but I'd like a bit more of the gods themselves to peek through more often.
Absolutely amazing! 🤩 This is definitely my favourite Skyler Andra read so far - it’s a real rollercoaster of a ride! Aaliyah is a great FMC, she’s sassy, strong, smart and stands by her morals in in adversity 💪🏻 She’s placed amongst the rival MC after a series of questionable events. They don’t know who she really is and she’s uses that as a way to gather intel. They are also the only other avatars she knows and she shares a connection with them: she’s their fated mate but she’s also part of a curse 😮 The Jackals are rough and ready, but there are some diamonds amongst their roughness! Slade is definitely a maim or make-out with kinda guy with absolutely no in-between 🙈 Zethan is moody and mysterious, avoiding Aaliyah at nearly all costs 🤨 Alaric is sweet but severely damaged, he tries but his issues are a danger ☹️ then there’s Castor sarcastic and suspicious of Aaliyah - will those suspicions turn out to be correct??!! 😉 Aaliyah gets stuck entirely between a rock and a hard place with the demands from her brother (her MCs Prez) and her bonds with the Jackals! It all comes to a head when Aaliyah begins to suspect all was not what it appeared surrounding her fathers death! Unfortunately she comes to some realisations too late and my word are the last couple of chapters heart-wrenching! Skyler broke me 😭 I need the next one like now to know what happens and how it moves on!!!
Every time I see that Skyler Andra has a new book coming out I get super excited. I absolutely love her characters and the worlds she creates. She literally drags you in and refuses to let go of you till the end of the book, and even then you still don't want to leave.
The Operation Isis series has ties to Andra's other series Operation Cupid and Operation Hades. In fact, we briefly saw into the Egyptian world in the Hades series, a little look at what was to come in this series.
It's a perfect mixture of Egyptian mythology and a motorcycle group, the Jackals Wrath MC. Aaliyah is an ER nurse, whose father has just died, and she knows exactly who did it. Her brother, the new President of the Wolves wants her to work her way into the Jackals and tell him everything, so he can take them down, but it's not what Aaliyah wants. She has been out of the MC for years, turning her back on them. But a string of circumstances lands her in the one place she doesn't want to be.
I loved Aaliyah, and I think my favourite guy was probably Castor, though I do love the others too. Well, maybe Slade. I'm still undecided on him, he's a bit of a tool. It was an absolutely brilliant read and I'm so excited for the new book to see what happens with Aaliyah and her men.
This is an MC, PNR, & RH. That’s right, the trifecta! I ate this book up like it was my last meal (And when you read it you’ll know which meal I’m thinking about). A lot is going on with our characters in a short time; angst, rivalry, love, suspense, drama and it’s all on the verge of chaos. I was so far on the edge of my seat, that I might’ve fallen off a few times & cursed. Multiple POV, I enjoyed that in some cases when the characters were not together the timeline didn’t continue but went back to the other character for their journey during the time, so you don't get any missed story. I don’t want to give too much away because it’s all a part of the journey but I recommend starting the journey with Nurse A & the Jackals. Be warned it does end on a cliffhanger, that may or may not make you scream. Ps. Skyler keeps putting things in books that I have never read before, it’s magical. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you see it 🤣 🪵
It's an MC, PNR, RH. Wow, that is all I can say about that. I ate this book up like it was my last meal (And when you read it you’ll know what I mean LOL) A lot is going on with our characters in a short time; angst, rivalry, love, suspense, drama and it’s all on the verge of chaos. I was so far on the edge of my seat. Oh and Skyler keeps putting things in books that I have never read before, it’s magical. You’ll know what I'm talking about when you see it.😂 Can't wait for book 2. Was given this book as an arc to review as I feel it Deserves!!!!
Once I read the synopsis of this book I knew I had to read it. I adore Egyptian history and looked forward to seeing this new take on gods and goddesses.
This was an interesting combination of Egyptian gods and an MC, and it did work fairly well. I would have liked a bit more of an explanation of why they were chosen as avatars for the gods and what it entailed. As well as a bit more information on how it all worked, especially since I was initially unsure if all people had powers or just them and if it was a secret and why. I did appreciate the explanation of the gods and what qualities they gave to each character. It was repeated a few times and there was even reference section.
This was a good introduction to the series and the characters. It did move fairly slow but the last few chapters really picked up. Interested to see how the dynamic changes after some revelations and where the rest of the story will go.
This is my ARC review for the first book in the Operation Isis series.
Oh, what a great start to a new series!! Operation Isis has 4 hot as Hades motorcycle club members mate bonded with the daughter of the slain president of their rival MC. Aaliyah hasn't been apart of her father's MC for 6 years but has been dragged/attempted kidnapped back into the the life she left behind. Determined to find out who killed her father, she stays with the Jackels to find out if their president is responsible for the crime.
Aaliyah and 4 members of the Jackels are avatars to powerful Egyptian gods; Aaliyah/Isis, Slade/Set, Castor/Thoth, Alaric/Horus and Zethan/Osiris. Their bond is tested and tempted and a whole lot of spice between them.
I'm excited for the sequel and I love all the series that Skyler has written.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW of Curse of the Gods by Skylar Andra, the first book in the Jackals Wrath MC series. I really enjoyed this read. It is an interesting take on Egyptian mythology. When the Egyptian Gods select avatars to find a way to break a curse, the mix of mortal and immortal realm becomes a battleground on more than one front. This is a sexy read that is heavily invested in drama, secrets, betrayals and action with splashes of romance and humor. Mature themes and a trigger warning push this into a Mature Readers Suggested read. Osiris, Set, Thoth, Horus and Isis are the main characters embodied in human avatars. A great anytime read. This read does not resolve, it sets up for the next book.
This honest and voluntary review was made possible by obtaining a copy through Booksprout.
Wow what a story. This book grips you from the start and does not let you go until the end and then it leaves you wanting more! Aaliyah is an ER nurse who has stayed away from anything MC for years after her boyfriend dies, that is until her brother forces her hand. Jer father has been killed and he wants revenge. He sends Aaliyah to infiltrate and take down the rival gang. Sje does not want anything to do with it but he somehow.manipilates things until she is in their clutches before she knows it. Jokes on her brother though as the other MV turns out to be run by Egyptian Gods and low and behold she is one of the avatars they are searching for. Sje falls for all four of the enemy and they her. This is reverse harem at its best. Great start to a new series. Well worth the read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I don't usually read MC books. I find them to be very unrealistic coming from a huge biker town, I know the lifestyle well and when it's poorly written, it ruins the story for me no matter how great the rest of the writing is. But I do enjoy anything with Mythology and this author hasn't yet let me down so I gave this one a shot. I am so glad I did! Not only was the story so well imagined and written, but the MC was true to life, the characters were fantastic and well-rounded, and the story sucked me in from word one. Aaliyah is a character thrown from one bad situation to the next, yet she handles them with grace and a high level of believability. I don't do spoilers, but I can say this is an amazing start to a series and if the rest continues at this level, it will be a binge read for the ages.
Aaliyah, an ER nurse, has the misfortune of being related to one MC that has a rivalry with the largest MC after one of them killed her father. As the story progresses family ties are further broken, enemies fall into her lap, and the path she choses to follow is filled with ancient gods and curses that will either lead to her death or happiness either four men. Skylar Andra has outdone herself in Curse of the Gods that leans heavily on Egyptian mythology. The situation seems dire, but I am hopeful that they will see their way through everything. Reader discretion advised due to dark subject matter and/or possible triggers.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
What an intense book! There is a lot going on and a lot has already happend. We Discover some things that happen before during the book and these information helps us undestand the chatecters better and theire motivations. Our FMC is very confuse because She thinks that She knows the true but maybe things are how they seem. The Family has a lot of secrets and enemies migth be her allies. But they could be lying. The mate Bond makes them like each other but is it real? Or is it just a curse. So Many decisions and so litlle information. A true rollercoaster of emotions. The end? Wow how Will she get out of that?
