Izzy adores everything about Christmas. But after having her heart broken last year, she no longer believes in Christmas romance or mistletoe kisses.
Rose dreads the festive season. Since her father passed away seven years ago, she’s spent every Christmas alone while her mother worked extra shifts to avoid dealing with her grief.
When both girls unexpectedly run into each other, stuck on their university campus over the winter holidays, they decide to make the most of it together. The more time they spend in each other’s company, the harder it gets to deny their budding feelings for each other.
But it will take more than a little tinsel to prove that Christmas is not just a season mired in false glamour, and that it can be something real too.
omg not me finishing this book 2 minutes before new years but anyway MAYA WINTERS is such an underrated author. i lived this book sm. the festive vibes tonight and the Christmas setting was amazing and i lived izzy and rose so so much. Some of my favouorte book characters ever!! This was such a cute cozy read and even tho8gh it's past Christmas i still enjoyed it!!
Both, Izzy and Rose, were super likable and the campus setting made the book even greater. More than Mistletoe was super easy to get through because it was well written, and the writing style was fluid. The author did a very great job getting the festive vibes and the Christmas mood across.
However, the book was pretty short, and I would have loved to read more about the background of the characters. I also would have liked to have a few more chapters in the end. I wish we would’ve been able to read about the actual Christmas and Izzy’s and Rose’s romance.
If you’re looking for a quick, cute Christmas read, this book is perfect for you!
More Than Mistletoe by Maya Winters is a heartwarming Christmas novella that perfectly captures the festive spirit while exploring themes of love, grief, and healing. Izzy and Rose's unexpected holiday companionship on a quiet university campus creates a sweet and cozy setting for their slow-building romance. While the buildup of their relationship was enjoyable, I found myself wishing for a little more depth or resolution to their story. That being said, this was a charming and sweet read that’s perfect for anyone seeking a dash of Christmas magic and a heartfelt connection.
This was a delightful but short read, with a cozy spirit of Christmas. I loved the holiday vibes, it really painted a vivid picture of festivity and merriment. I have to say I wished the book was longer than it was. I wished for a few more chapters to explore the characters' journeys and witness the unfolding of the plot, especially their romance.
This tale of Christmas meeting of two very different young women who are stranded at college for Christmas break is adorable. Both Izzy and Rose are the kind of MC’s that you would want to be friends with . You want them to figure it out and be happy. You’ll be happy after enjoying this story.
If you’re looking for a cute sapphic Christmas read, this one is perfect. It took me a few hours to get through, and certainly gave me a really Christmassy feeling.
This was cute. It was also really short, more novella than novel. Basically zero spice (two PG kisses). I'd let a 13yr old read this honestly, as long as you're good with lgbtq+ content.
