A solid ending to a great paranormal reverse harem series. This series had heavy Greek mythology influences, which made it fairly unique. I thought that the world-building was terrific, and all of the characters were very well-developed. I loved the addition of T in this book--he was just so lonely and kind of funny/sassy. I continued to love the Spartoi, especially having Wild be their general. Sometimes the Gods made me a little confused, but I mostly liked the God storyline.

In this book, Bullet continued to be my favorite. He is so freaking adorable and hilarious. I will also always have a soft spot for Riot, as Grace's first mate. I still think that the first 2 books of this series were probably the best. Wild and Dare's books were both just a little slow/dragged the plot out for awhile.

I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 stars because I was disappointed with how long the 5 main characters were separated in this. Grace finally reunited with ONE of her mates, Wild, at 52% into the book. Dare and Bullet found each other around ~70%ish. The 5 characters weren't all back together until like the last 15% of the book. I missed all of their group scenes and interactions. Because they were separated for so long, there was a lot more inner monologue throughout this book in each POV chapter.

The ending was bittersweet with Bullet, but it made sense. It's kind of cute seeing him relearn everything and he's no longer suffering or pained by all of his old powers. I also thought it was satisfying seeing the main characters go back to Milton and having Grace reprimand her old town of agathos. It was cute that 2 of her dads self-bonded to each other.

I was a little annoyed by the Mercy POV chapters in this book because I really don't care about Mercy, but I understand why they were necessary. It was awesome that Wild's no-speaking curse was transferred to Grace's evil mom, Faith.

Overall, it was still a great series that I would recommend as a must read to any reverse harem/paranormal romance readers.

"489,807 words later, the State of Grace series is finished!"

OMFG! I COULDN'T AGREE MORE!

This series started out OKAY but as it dragged on and on and onnnnnnnn I lost interest and struggled to finish it.

This last book was so much worse in the boring scale...

And if you read my reviews, you know I try to be nice but this series is so long winded and BORING.

There was some good smut but even that had it's meh moments.

I suggest this series of your sleeping pills are not doing IT for you.

I’m on a kick of writing reviews for a full series because my current thinking is if the first book is awesome, but the series sucks, you can get sucked in for no reason, so I’m trying to put the review as whole and then rate the books individually to help 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really enjoyed the series. It was much more hopeful, loving and fun than I thought it would be.

Imagine that living amongst us today are both agathos and daimons. Beings whose soul purpose is to either help humanity or guide them to destruction. Our girl, Grace, is an agathos—Born to be the embodiment of all things good and pure and righteous BUT her main “purpose” in life has been to find her “bonded” and now at 25 everyone in her community just assumes she is broken, and then she meets Riot (a Daimon) and her whole world flips upside down.

I loved how clearly planned and thought out this series was. Could it have done with some editing? Absolutely, but overall, everything that happened in what becomes a mythological epic story makes sense to the characters and the original structure of the story.

Run Riot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Silver Bullet: ⭐️⭐️ (slower plot)
Wild Game: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dare Not: ⭐️⭐️ (couldn’t figure out the point)
Saving Grace: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (would have been 4 if the ‘separation trope’ didn’t exist for more than half of the novel)

Overall series rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ HEA.

Content/Trigger Warning: clear purity culture/religious theology allegory, reverse harem relationship, MMF relationship within the harem; religious sacrifice, ceremonies etc. super steamy scenes for all characters.

That’s how a conclusion should look like!
What an epic finale for this amazing series.

I would not go to the details and spoil, just go and read it!

—Greek mythology.
—unique world.
—Agathos x Daimons
—forbidden romance
— Reverse Harem
—fantastically written, amazing & funny character and solid plot.
—safe, kindle Unlimited and not standalone.

This series will always have a special place in my heart.
P.s T is one of my favourite character in the whole series.
The humour in this book was 🤌🤌🤌!

I liked this series less the longer it went on. I will admit to skimming parts of this book, too. Although I am glad everyone ended up happy, this wasn't my favorite series by this author.

So. Yes. But also…no?
Yes. I liked it. It was a semi satisfying ending.
But no, because I wanted more from a few characters?
Like. Bullet’s whole situation was like reset and we don’t get to see any of the work that goes into that situation. (I’m being vague to avoid spoilers lol)
Plus, Wild and Bullet? Where’s the growth there? It’s left at like a crush level of building on page but at the end they’re solid? Rude.

But then everything else was really nice?

I don’t know.
I liked the series, and this ending fine but it wasn’t a favorite.🤷🏻‍♀️

So many tears

I have to say, I was a bit concerned about how all the stuff with Bullet was going to work out, but the solution was great.
The story as a whole was really interesting and the world building, yes even including the Greek gods, was impeccable. The author was true to the characteristics of the tempestuous gods and the required sacrifices for anything the characters needed. The agathos and daimons were a unique addition that brought a good spin on the whole thing.
The environment Grace grew up in hit home with me; a culty community with rigid roles and off definitions of right and wrong. I loved watching her grow into herself while still having the trauma be a part of her.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: violence/gore, grief, death, genocide, natural disasters, child abuse (off page)

DNF

DNF at 30%. It is the last book, I expected more. We really aren't learning that much more, even though at this point in a 5 book series, I would hope for more insight. The POVs read the same, other than Bullet's. I might come back to this to find out what happened. I read all the other books back to back, so maybe that is why. It felt like as it went on, the quality decreased.

I mean I’m crying. I have such beef with the final books in series because they never wrap up well or give us enough time but this one finished with purpose and let us see that everything was going to be okay 🫶 one of my most anticipated series to read of 2023 and I was not disappointed

The time has finally come for Grace to take on the role as prophetess and save the world. Angering the goddess has basically shut off the world. Gone is the Sun, gone are the animals, gone are the essentials to keeping humanity alive. I have to admit over the course of the series Grace has really shouldered and lot and stepped up to the plate. And to think a lot of this is because she found love and something to fight for. Still find it crazy that all the bonds were broken but I can’t help but be relieved for a couple of her fathers who were saddled with her mother and basically powerless against her. I do cast some blame on them though because regardless how wrapped around their wife they were, they should have shielded Grace and given her the extra love she needed rather than needing the apocalypse occur just so they can be ‘freed’ and apologize. Ridiculous that Rogue had to die like that and thus give the gang her baby, I mean she was voted for that position and did not choose it herself so watching her go out that way just seemed so wrong. Glad everything worked out in the end and even if the world is back in the Stone Ages, hopefully the people can finally learn from the mistakes of the past as they rebuild a new world.

❝ “I miss it, but it doesn’t change anything, Grace. The bond didn’t make me love you, and it’s not going to take my love away.” ❞

Ahhh, the State of Grace series has finally come to an end and my emotions are all over the place. I love and care for these characters so deeply, I'm very happy to see them reach their hea, but sad to know it's over.

Everything picks up exactly after the heartbreaking and life changing events of book 4. Grace and the guys each have their own missions and challenges to face. The separation between them is brutal and long, but it felt necessary. They each had an important role to play.

Grace finds her courage, Riot finds his potential, Wild finds his redemption, Dare finds his place, and Bullet— my sweet Bullet, he finds his peace.

The twists and turns were fun and unexpected. It was an adventure from start to finish and I could not put it down. It wrapped everything up in a beautifully bittersweet way.

I did love spending more time in the underworld with the gods and other beings.

Thanatos completely stole my heart in the few scenes he showed up in. I will literally get on my knees to manifest the possibilty of Colette giving him his own book someday. 🧎‍♀️

I wish the book was longer, or that we got some extended bonus epilogues because I wanted more of them together at the end. To see some glimpses of the futures that Bullet saw earlier in the series, only including the things he couldn't see.

My heart is not ready to let go. I'm going to miss this series and these characters so much. Maybe we will one day be blessed with some bonus content. 🥹🩷

I am however very excited that there will be some more books in this world following up with some of the side characters! I am dying to know how things will work out for them.

2 ⭐️: 1 for Bullet and 1 for Greek Mythology

I think this is the first reverse harem Ive read where the protagonist isnt the main character of the story and honestly I couldn’t care less about her

The characters:

Bullet is clearly the only one with a good story
Dare couldnt be more insignificant
Riot started off pretty well on the first book but just turned out boring through the series
Wild had potential but it was wasted
I loved Grace in the first book but she just kept getting boring as the author started to focus more on Bullet

The plot:

I really liked the greek mythology vibes, but it felt more like an information dump
the different povs with second characters really annoyed me

4.25⭐️ I love how everything wrapped up super nicely for the series.

I kind of wish Grace was able to confront her mom, but what happened to her was exactly what she deserved.

I really loved this series as a whole and re-reading everything leading up to the final book release was just as enjoyable as reading it the first time.

I loved the story, the world building, the character development and the overall plot - heavily influenced by Greek mythology. I also loved the dynamics between characters and the banter injected some much need humour.

Although I loved all those aspects, I did find that the story was drawn out and my interest did fade in book 4. I pushed through to finish the series because I wanted to know what happened but it didn't grip me quite like the beginning.

This was honestly the best way to end this series. I loved the push and pull between the character’s morals and the general sacrifices they made to be together again. My only wish is that I would have been able to read all the books in succession instead of waiting for the releases because it made the storyline slightly choppy and harder to keep track of but the writing was amazing and the action, adventure and character development were *chefs kiss*…. Really wish more of the books I read this year were like this.

This series could have been two books with much better spice or no spice because the awkward spice throughout the ENTIRE series was 👎

Five books dragged out the story, heavy saturation of inner dialogue. Very annoying but I liked the premise so that’s why I finished it.

heartbreakingly heartfelt

This is the final book in The State of Grace series. I didn’t review the others after I had finished each one, like I normally would, because I was in SUCH a hurry to start the next one. I LOVED this series. I am so sad it’s over. The amount of times I’ve SOBBED REPEATEDLY?!? Are ASTRONOMICAL! The way I felt each characters feelings, as if they were my own, made it that much more raw and real. I had no idea how Bullet’s story would end, although it kept insinuating that he’d die and Grace would live with just her 3 soul bonds, things kept changing. Grace saved him and tied him to her, then Dare made a promise he’d bring him back. It was heartbreaking he couldn’t remember anything, but it was endearing to see their group would rather have Bullet without his memories, than not have him at all. Riot growing into his true potential that he ALWAYS had, was not surprising. Grace mentioned multiple times upon meeting him that he was different from other daimons, and how wise he was. Though often confused, the comical relief of the group, and brutally honest, Riot has always had deep meaningful words behind the conversations with his loved ones. Being often misguided with good intentions, does not mean he was a good for nothing with zero potential like the gods liked to believe. Wilds emotional development was so sweet. What he and Grace shared through ASL, and communicating through the bond prior to him getting his voice back, I feel was a huge turning point for him emotionally. His friends took the time and care to learn these things, and be able to read him with his absence of speech and technology. It was refreshing reading others interactions with a non-speaking main character, and was a brilliant choice. Dare, I honestly wish he and Grace had had more time to get to know each other and interact. That’s all I could think during his book. I wish we had seen more from him in his story, I felt he deserved it. Although, in regard to Grace, I know it was pertinent his story went the way it did so he would face the trials he did to make it to them. I do wish each main character had their own epilogue, to see their “final” thoughts towards the end. I would’ve loved another steamy scene with Grace, Riot and Dare at the end, especially with Riot mentioning his and Dares “plans” they had. Grace’s character is a little more complex. I loved her. However, her agathos traits drove me INSANE. But I understand they’re part of what made her herself and shaped her into who she was. I think my biggest issue with her was her naivety, although towards the end, I realized I wouldn’t so much call her naive, but instead hopeful. In the face of all the adversity they were facing, she still had hope. She might’ve been scared out of her mind, but she was still hopeful nonetheless, and it was great read and feel her hope among the chaos. Side characters—Faith, Grace’s mom, got the ending she deserved. I’m glad we didn’t have her and Grace interact in the end to tie up loose ends. She doesn’t deserve to have her story told. However, I do wish we could’ve gotten some loose ends tied up with Mercy. We had her POV multiple times in the last book and I know Grace said they communicated, but I’d like to know how things ended with mercy and dice. Did they talk face to face at all? Even if they didn’t get back together, it would’ve been nice to have Mercy apologize to Dice, especially since she continued to feel guilty about him. Although I don’t agree with her assessment that he’s “better off without her” since everyone makes mistakes, he has the right and free will to decide that for himself.
In conclusion, I was hooked from the very beginning. This was a great series and I plan to return them to KU, and purchase them instead to have them permanently in my library. I’d recommend this series 10/10. Greek mythology is my favorite, so that’s an added bonus. This series has everything.

Writing 3/5
Plot 4/5
Characters 3.5/5
Spicy 1/5

Honestly. Not the best in the series. I’ve been having bad luck lately getting to the end of series and them really falling off or just not giving me what I hoped. I really feel like her writing fell off. Maybe she was also working on other works? Idk but not correcting spelling errors and the CRINGY “dirty talk” is so so so bad. I read this for the harem and stayed for the Greek mythology influence.

**spoilers**

However the gods spoke like petulant Gen Z when everything else about the book made it seem like they should have a very different voice. Mature, resounding, eloquent and deceptive. It really made me cringe reading some of the conversations with the gods and there were a lot of them. The descriptive sex scenes are not present until the epilogue, so don’t even get your hopes up. I feel like the first book she spent so much better time dealing with the spice than in this book, and like I said the “dirty talk”, especially during the rebonding between G & D&R. Yuck. So bad. That was supposed to be such a magical and emotional experience and I actually hated it and wanted to stop reading there!

Otherwise. I liked the split of the characters that everyone else doesn’t seem to like. I liked exploring each of the characters separately. But I agree that Mercy and Gaia’s chapters were wholly unnecessary and boring. Completely skipped Gaia’s after a paragraph.

I think I would have liked more time dedicated to what happened after the 12 were released. 85% of the book is the build up to that and the war itself. But I would have liked that to be more 50/50 so we get more time dedicated to the group rebuilding together and really allowing B time to get everything back.

I really enjoyed the plot and Bullet’s character. But especially once wild got his voice back there was no difference in character voices between R D and W. They all sounded the exact same and I don’t feel like the author put enough energy to really hashing out their personalities. I love B & W together and I’m happy we got more of that in the epilogue.

I liked everything about Tartarus and the 12 locked away and needing to honor them to give them strength and using Gaia’s own hubris against her. I liked the relationship between the underworlds and how that was fleshed out. Honestly everything about the world was great. And most of the characters were so enjoyable. It just got lazy in certain areas and not “true to character” that had been previously established.

Anyway. Long winded. But I did recommend it to my friends and I’m interested in seeking out some Wattpad for what I really felt like was missing lol I’ll definitely read more from the author.

So, I wanted to wait and review this series as a whole. Mostly because I would finish one book and immediately start the next, like "Oops".

But anyway, the series started off kind of slow. I understand the need for world building, but we were "told" a lot of things instead of "shown." I hate that. 😒 I also struggled to like Grace at first. She was a doormat and had zero backbone. I get that she was basically brainwashed that way, but I was worried that pattern would continue and she wouldn't completely grow out of it.

Then we meet Riot and Bullet. I love them. I love all her guys. ❤️ We finally start to see Grace grow into her potential, and I'm really rooting for her. I enjoyed the slow burn. There was a lot of plot to get through that didn't need to be overshadowed by my girl's sexual awakening. I felt so bad for Bullet during the majority of the books. He got the short end of the stick so often, and he forced himself to be okay with that and not waste precious time on negative emotions.

Wild had to grow on me, tbh. He was your typical self-sacrificing alpha hero who tried to make decisions for everyone (Grace) based on what he thought was best. I liked that he couldn't communicate normally, but I was surprised no one bothered to learn ASL until Grace entered the picture? Especially his employees. It's a useful, SILENT strategy when you're dealing with opposition (battlefield).

My sweet Dare was another who just couldn't catch a break. It didn't help that everyone basically knew he was Grace's 4th bond, and yet he was STILL basically left behind. They could have kept him in the loop and communicated better. He was constantly calling them because he would hear things through the grapevine instead of from his friends. That was so shitty. He was alone a lot of the time. Just waiting to be needed, basically.

I enjoyed the plot. It kept me interested after the initial world building. There was plenty of angst, but the romance between Grace and her bonded was gradual enough to be believable, considering what was going on around them.

I was disappointed with the ending. I wanted to see a few confrontations after the Resurrection. Riot and his dad. Wild and his dad. (Probably the same "proud papa" scenario.) Grace and her family in Maine. Grace and her mother. I can't wait for Mercy's story. I want to check on Dice and how he's doing. Will the Spatori find bonds? 🤔 What about Versailis (sp?) and his gang? I feel like I've been left hanging.

5* + fav's list

I don't even know how to put into words how much I loved the conclusion to this series. This was absolutely my favorite book in all of them, it had so much action and adventure. The mythology aspects were all over the place and it took me a minute to be able to figure everything out, but it was worth it. I adored how each one of the protagonists had its own path and their own journey to complete in order to become a hero. Each of them had their moment to shine and I was dying to know what would happen and how it would all work in the end. And thankfully, it was an great ending that did not disappoint or take away from the amazing experience that it is this series.
It's kind of hard to explain this whole story, because it's one hell of a journey for all the characters. It starts off kind of small, with very few complications and then everything starts to escalate to ginormous levels. I don't think I can describe all the feelings that this series brought me. It had all kind of different things happening. The beginning felt so mild if compared to the end, but those smaller moments needed to happen so we could get to the big things. It was really incredible to see how far each of the characters came and how they grew together, becoming the extraordinary heroes that we hoped. All the protagonists were enthralling and captivating from the beginning, but they surpassed all my expectations by the final chapters and I loved all the surprises. I just wish we had gotten a little more from the other background characters. There were a lot of unfinished business from those on the side of the main story and I kind of hope we can get more answers in the future.
This was my first full series by Colette Rhodes and was an absolute astounding success. The only previous book I had read from her was very nice, but this series is so much more. I really wish more people would read it and get to experience this incredible story. I'm honestly hoping we can get more books and stories in this magnificent world that the author created, it had such different new concepts that basically demand to be further explored. I'm a big sucker for greek mythology, so this was such a blast for me. It was like the New Adult version of Percy Jackson, but with a female main heroine and her harem of exceptional heroes. It's a very easy recommendation to anyone who loves well developed stories with enrapturing characters.
