This was well done and very approachable. It's very attractive too. I wasn't in quite the right headspace when I read it, which is certainly not his fault.
It is aimed at British gardening and a significant amount of it is not particularly applicable to say, Virginia. So you would want to supplement with a book specifically for your area (of course).
Revered British gardener Monty Don has written many books sharing his wisdom on gardening. As host of the ever so popular Gardeners World we have all seen the beauty of his garden at Long Meadow and his prowess in this pursuit. His passion, skill and handy tips are all in abundance in this beautifully illustrated book. Many of these tips do translate into our gardening world in Australia but some of the results he gets in a wet, mild and rich soil leaves me feeling jealous and in awe. My favourite sections included propagation, vegetable growing and gardening for wild life. Gardeners do contribute in helping climate change and his tips are also good for those that enjoy thrifty challenges. This particular book was rich in photos and many were inspiring and had me planning my next projects. Monty Don is just brilliant and if you haven’t already have a look at his books and tune in to Gardeners World. See his garden and delightful Golden Retriever.
Gardening really is food for the soul. The feel of cool earth between your fingers and the hope that planting absolutely anything brings should be a compulsory activity. This book is excellent for novices or the more experienced alike. I certainly picked up some great tips and feel inspired as I'll be spending a lot more time in my French garden this season.
