.It is written by a doctor. A very famous doctor. Doctor who thrives in critical care.

Essays are deep, informative, flowing, enjoyable, engaging and thought provoking.
Such a vast field but author has chosen his words wisely to produce a supple compact narrative.

Written in 2009 it covers every part of medicine and society interactions.

Gasping relationship of physician and patient due to mistakes by both; is deeply explored.

Past discoveries and present medical miracles find place.

So is art, music, artists, religion, euthanasia and surgery.

Chapter on anaesthesia is very interesting.
Only damp chapter is chapter on religion and medicine.

Author's views are balanced and give alternative medicine adequate space.
Dangers of uncontrolled scientific adventures in genetic sciences are clearly underlined.
Particularly useful for anyone who has interest in evolution and future of medicine.
