Fast paced, action packed

Rather a good book, although this time round it seems as if everyone else does things right and Luke just constantly screws up and has to be rescued/saved
Jena is coming into her own more, being far more capable in violent situations, although she still has issues with moral aspects of it all
The ending is a surprise and very abrupt, could have done with at least another chapter to explain a few things

"Target Five" by Jack Mars is a gripping thriller that follows the journey of CIA agent Jacob Snow as he races against time to stop a deadly plot that could threaten national security. Set in the heart of Washington D.C., the novel weaves a web of intrigue, deception, and high-stakes espionage that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page.

From the outset, Jacob Snow is portrayed as a seasoned operative with a sharp mind and a relentless determination to complete his mission. As the narrative unfolds, readers will realize Snow’s grappling with personal demons and moral dilemmas that add layers of depth to his character. Mars does an excellent job of fleshing out Snow's internal struggles, making him a relatable and compelling protagonist that readers will root for.

When a CIA agent posing as an archaeologist is arrested in Pakistan, Jacob Snow is assigned to covertly exfiltrate him. But when Jana Peters, his archaeological friend and daughter of his mentor gets a whimper of his assignment, she insists on accompanying him. Her agenda in this mission was to find the whereabouts of her missing father, who had been declared dead by the CIA in an operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. As the duo begin their journey to the archaeological site in Pakistan to find the whereabouts of the CIA agent, and the secret pendrive that holds crucial information that Pakistan is determined not to fall into the US hands, Snow and Jana are captured by the Pakistan army and their torment begins.

As Snow delves deeper into the conspiracy at the heart of the novel, he must navigate a treacherous world of double agents, shadowy organizations, and high-level corruption. Just when Jacob is about to be put to an excruciating endurance test by the Pakistan army, the high-security prison is ambushed by a dangerous and professional assailant, who tears through the defence of the prison’s frontline and manoeuvres a miraculous escape with Jacob, Jana and the CIA agent. Jacob has an inkling as to who their saviour could be, but it is difficult for him to believe that his mentor is still alive and surviving the harsh hostilities in the region. Jana is hoping to meet her father, who had left her alone in her childhood and went on to mentor Jacob Snow. What was the secret that the Pakistan army was so desperate to lay their hands on? Will Jacob and the team be successful in exfiltrating their colleague? Was their saviour Jana Peter’s long-presumed-dead father?

The plot of "Target Five" is fast-paced and full of twists and turns that will leave readers guessing until the very end. Mars does a masterful job of building tension and suspense, keeping the stakes high and the action relentless. One of the standout features of "Target Five" is Mars' attention to detail when it comes to the technical aspects of espionage and counterterrorism. The author's background in intelligence work shines through in his writing, lending an air of authenticity to the story that sets it apart from other thrillers in the genre.

While "Target Five" is undeniably a thrilling and entertaining read, it also serves as a poignant reminder of the real-world challenges and dangers that face intelligence operatives every day. In conclusion, "Target Five" is a riveting and thought-provoking thriller that cements Jack Mars' reputation as a master of the genre. With its compelling characters, high-octane plot, and timely themes, the novel is sure to appeal to fans of espionage fiction and political thrillers alike. If you're looking for a page-turner that will keep you guessing until the very end, look no further than "Target Five."

Well now I done listened to Target Five on the audiobook and lemme tell ya it was a wild ride! This here one had Jacob Snow and Jenna in it and they was in a heap o trouble in Pakistan. Sounded like a real hot mess over there.

They was chasin after some radioactive stuff and them flyin drones for a CIA mission. But then things went south real quick. They had to try and bust out two other agents from some kinda prison and wouldn't ya know it Jacob he gets himself caught. Then Jenna she's all tough tryin to break em all out but then she gets caught too! I was like Doggone it not her too!

But then outta nowhere comes Arron Peters! That's Jenna's daddy the one she thought was dead and gone. He comes in like a whirlwind and saves Jenna and Jacob and the whole crew. Man that was a surprise I tell ya!
Jack Mars he sure knows how to keep ya listenin. My ears was perked up the whole time wonderin how in the world they was gonna git outta that pickle. It's got plenty of them spy type things and shootin's and all that. If you like yer agents gettin into deep messes and then someone you thought was a goner comes in to save the day this here Target Five with Jacob and Jenna is the one for ya.

4.5 catfish outta 5

Another good spy thriller from Jack Mars's The Spy Game series starring Agent Jacob Snow and archeologist Janna Peters!

This adventure and mission takes place on the border of Pakistan as Jacob and Janna join forces to rescue to agents that are being held hostage by a radical sect. Along the way, Jacob and Janna begin to realize that their friendship might possibly be more, and evidence continues to mount that Janna's father, Agent Aaron Peters, might not actually be dead as they both thought...

I can't wait to continue with Target Six as this one left off on a major WOW moment!

Gripping

I used to read Lee Child. And I liked Jack Reacher. Then I discovered Jack Mars. Jacob Snow and Luke Stone. What I like about Jack Mars is the reality - heroes like Jacob Snow are real. Whereas the storyline is gripping. You don't want to put the book down. Actually, not the book, the Kindle.

Too many foreign name’s starting with a “G” and then a decent plot. I liked the Ben Porters series with action and great endings!

Listened to most the series on audible at work which has been nice, books keep getting shorter and shorter though and becoming quite predictable in what will happen next.
