Heather Lawson is an average teenager growing up in a small 1970's cattle town. However, on her first day back to school, she notices strange things happening. When someone close to her goes missing and the town decides not to act, it falls on Heather and her friends to solve the mystery. The teens soon discover their town has a dark secret hidden just beneath their feet and something much worse lurking in the shadows.
I started writing in elementary school and have saved a couple stories from back then. This turned into a writing hobby throughout middle and high school. As an adult I took a break from writing but could not ignore the itch that comes with writing for long. I would work on my stories whilst bored at work. I decided it was time to take my writing seriously and started to really work at improving my skills. It took a good kick in the ass from a few friends and family members before I started to fully delve into my love of writing. Then, I was granted the opportunity to become a stay-at-home dad. This gave me the time to get my first book finished and out into the world. Now, my second book is set to be released soon and the third is in the works.
Do you ever get the eerie feeling someone or something is watching you? Does your life sometimes feel like a never-ending nightmare you seem to never be able to wake up from? Well for Heather Lawson life is but a dream as each day she's living a nightmare. Sometime early August '77 the eerie town of Greenshire prepares for its annual carnival, rodeo and new school year. As migrants began to travel into town Heather and her younger sister watch as people parade into town, excitement brewing. Unable to go to far due to recent missing children the girl's gaze out the front porch window when Heather locks eyes with a peculiar character. For a second she can't help but think she's seen a cloaked man like figure with glowing red eyes. An image that would soon haunt her thoughts and day to day basis. The first day of school unlocks an even new nightmare for Heather when her bestfriend doesn't show up for her bus, or classes, summoning a school assembly informing students a forth child has gone missing. It's up to Heather and her gang to embark on a journey to unearth the secrets hidden within her eerie small town. No mandatory curfew will keep these kids away.
I absolutely loved the first book in Donny's series. It brought back nostalgic Goosebumps vibes meets Scooby-Doo Crystal Cove clashed with Steven Kings Losers club. It's a very easy read for all ages from young adult up. I truly look forward to continuing my journey with Heather and her Gang as they unearth the dark hushed secrets of Greenshire in his future books.
