Award winning longtime columnist for the Houston Chronicle, recipient of the prestigious Lon Tinkle lifetime achievement award from the Texas Institute of Letters as well as awards for fiction and non-fiction from TIL, the Headliners Fdn., United Press International, and the Associated Press, among others.
Leon Hale was an American journalist and author. He worked as a columnist for the Houston Chronicle from 1984 until his retirement in 2014. Before that, he had a column in the Houston Post for 32 years. He was the author of twelve books.
more great essays by a master of essays--Hale's writings are works that even essayists Montagne and White would be proud to have written--I'm just proud to be a Texan as he is. While I've dabbled in journalism, journalism has been Hale's bread and butter for more decades than I've been alive. His mind and "voice" are as fresh and real as that of my own progeny!
