Enid Mary Blyton (1897–1968) was an English author of children's books.

Born in South London, Blyton was the eldest of three children, and showed an early interest in music and reading. She was educated at St. Christopher's School, Beckenham, and - having decided not to pursue her music - at Ipswich High School, where she trained as a kindergarten teacher. She taught for five years before her 1924 marriage to editor Hugh Pollock, with whom she had two daughters. This marriage ended in divorce, and Blyton remarried in 1943, to surgeon Kenneth Fraser Darrell Waters. She died in 1968, one year after her second husband.

Blyton was a prolific author of children's books, who penned an estimated 800 books over about 40 years. Her stories were often either children's adventure and mystery stories, or fantasies involving magic. Notable series include: The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, Noddy, The Wishing Chair, Mallory Towers, and St. Clare's.

According to the Index Translationum, Blyton was the fifth most popular author in the world in 2007, coming after Lenin but ahead of Shakespeare.

I am just researching children’s books as I am close to publishing my own children book series. I wanted to see the number of pages for each story and the type of art work and what would the language be; I also wanted to check the language, should be children level?

Well instead of doing that I got all engrossed in reading this charming little story book, the adventures were funny, and each one tells a heroic story about a child. I liked the secret door and the train that broke in half. Very interesting indeed.

Maybe I should read more children books before publishing my own.

Very light leisure reading in between other novels. I like Little Lucky Man : the siblings believe in the little lucky charm so much? "Isn't He a Coward!" is good too. The Train That Broke in Half - most heroic little boy. One can read Enid Blyton's tales at what-ever age.

In this book my favorite story was 'Sailor Jim's telescope'. This is because it was quite miraculous how Pat, using sailor Jim's telescope, saved sailor Jim's Mother from getting Jim's mother's house from getting burnt. I also liked 'Adventure in the Afternoon'.
