The party, led by Igneous, come across a bear in the mountains just as something goes wrong with Senri and he collapses. The Kim-un-kur let Igneous and his troops into their camp because they are concerned about Senri... but their chief, Mukar, tells them that he has no intention of changing their relations with Astaria. While in the camp, Cooro and company learn that the Kim-un-kur treat +Anima with great respect, as people who have been gifted with the power of nature.
Cooro and Husky aren't like other boys. They're anima, children with animal features and qualities. After breaking free of their servitude at a cruel freakshow circus, they go on a journey in search of others like themselves. Cooro is a crow and Husky is a fish. As they travel the world doing good deeds, they recruit a bear boy, a cat woman and a bat girl. Together they get into all kinds of wacky antics while fighting against the oppression their kind faces on a daily basis.
The low rating isn't because this series is bad, it's just extremely cliche and childish in my opinion. I think it would be good for young kids who have no experience reading manga. It's extremely light, simple, easy to follow and doesn't contain anything overly violent, dark or sexual in nature. For someone like me who generally reads books and manga with excessive gore, dark themes and adult content it definitely didn't appeal to me that much, even though I was in the mood to read something lighter than I'm accustomed to.
Not a bad manga, just not for me. Even so, it's undeniably cute and wholesome. I think it would appeal to kids and young girls, especially if they have minimal experience reading manga.

Senri is back among his people but he can't remember them, nor can he remember his friends. The Astarian soldiers wish to ally themselves with the Kim-un-kur which leads to a big standoff that reveals the secret of Senri's +Anima powers. Poor tiny baby had it rough...
Next, we're going on another big adventure! And it ends with a flashback story about Cooro having issues with the snow.
I love getting more history on the characters! I also love seeing the interaction between foes. The illustrations and wonderful and I'm in love with the group!
I love these books! They are so adorable and lovable. They are well-thought out and interesting and wonderful. Her characters all seem so real. They all have problems and really specific and personal histories that go back pretty far. Her characters aren't perfect, and she is able to make them come to life and feel like real human beings. I love the idea behind this manga. I love the idea of being able to transform into an animal and have cool powers and be special. (I wish I could do it. That would be so cool!) My best friends gave these to me to read. They were the first manga I ever read in my entire life and I didn't get it at first. They had the books and I tried reading it, but I couldn't figure out how to read it backwards, and so the first book they read it out loud to me <3 Aren't they sweet? Anyways, I decided that I wanted to continue reading them online, and I was just planning to just look at +Anima a little bit and I ended up reading like the first 7 books in two days (It would've been sooner except I had school and sleep and whatnot, stupid distractions!) Senri is my favorite!! He is so adorable! I definitely recommend these books to those who love mangas, and to those who love animals, and to those who love interesting stories. This is a very good series with wonderful writing and amazing art!
When Cooro, Husky, Nana, and Senri travel up Moss Mountain with a troupe of Astarian soldiers they bumped into, they run into the inhabitants of the mountain and old enemies of Astaria-- the Kim-un-kur, Senri's people. Here, Senri is reunited with the only other last survivor from his clan, only Senri doesn't remember him or the clan! It appears that there is much more to Senri's silence and quick to violent ways... Will this be the parting place for Senri and the gang?
This volume was really touching. I could read it again. Q-Q And I just might. >;3 So Senri's character developed a lot faster than I had ever presumed it to, but now it seems that it is Husky's turn. Hmm. It doesn't appear that this series will even end like I once thought it to... Wow! Curveball! I think I'll read the next volume right now. ;3
What a gut-wrenching story this volume has! All mysteries about Senri are revealed. And it's not pretty. I can't imagine the agony Senri must felt after 'that incident' and suffered the numb state.
I personally think, the greatest pain one should never endure is the pain that makes us going numb. Makes us in a denial state all the time. Makes us want to ignore the actual pain without the intention to ever fix it. Makes us to wear a pretending mask to ensure ourselves that everything is fine but we know it's not. It's everybody's demon. And this manga (especially this volume) shows me to not rely only on ourselves' strength. Look around, you might found other source of strength called 'friends' or 'family' or even 'God'.
Wow. What a review. I didn't mean to be that sentimental. LOL!
We finally learn something about Senri in this book! His dad's best friend's (or uncle's...) reasoning was really lame, but it also showed something new about +Anima. They actually take on characteristics of a specific animal not just the species. I still wish we were learning more about the military guy and his friend, but at least we found out why the military is tromping around so much. Sailand is being more aggressive and they need to respond! Still not a very good motivation behind everything, especially since the military guy's friend is so interested in Cooro specifically...
I really like this manga series. I've read up to the seventh vol. and I look forward to a new book coming out everyday. It's cute, funny and the characters are adorable. I especially like Cooro since he's the glue that keeps the others together, and he's so carefree about everything. The group of main characters seemed balanced out by Cooro's blunt opinions, Husky's skeptic point of view, Nana's determination and Senry's pacifying calm.
The scene in the mountains was phenominal. We finally learn a little about Senri's past and why he acts that way he does. I love him even more. The kids can overcome their own pasts in order to move forward toward the future. They even followed Husky so the he could go home, not that he has bothered to tell anyone that he is from the other side of the mountains. Still, these kids are adorable, and I cannot wait to see where their adventures take them next.
This book swept me away to this other wonderful world. The setting was brilliantly set. I could totally see it in my mind. But the characters were definitely my favorite part. They are all so colorful, interesting, exciting, and hilarious. The main character is just perfect. The plot moved fast enough that I couldn't stop reading lest I miss something, but the author still took the time to flesh out the details. The details are what really make or break a story.
So in this volume, the back story of where Senri got all his scars comes to be. Why the black belt he has around his left eye has a significant meaning to him and why a friend might be a foe. We also get a story on something earlier mentioned in the series that Cooro got trapped in the snow one very cold evening.
The art, as always, is great. I love the ways that now we are getting set up for Huskey's back story
I really liked how we got to see a bunch more of Senri's past in this volume, especially since there had been hardly any information about him so far. It was also really nice to see why Igneous hates Kim-un-kur and bear +animas so much, as it was beginning to seem like just a slightly ridiculous revenge thing. I can't wait to see what they do in Sailand!
Sooo much nostalgia. Also, current me and 6th grade me can both agree that Husky is the best character in this series, HANDS DOWN. HE IS MY LITTLE MERMAID PRINCESS AND I WILL PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS.
Quick thoughts: Very good volume that focuses on Senri's past and the Kimunkle. Overarching plotlines are getting more development now, to good effect.
Man erfährt Senris Vergangenheit! Und Husky hat ein bestimmtes Ziel vor Augen. Kleine extra Geschichte wo wir wieder einmal sehen wie tollpatschig und dennoch freundlich Cooro ist.
