Brings back lots of memories of working in the theatre, though I've never been involved in a production that had quite so much 'drama.' Suffers somewhat from having very little admirable about most of the characters--probably a side-effect of me growing old as opposed to a radical change in the nature of contemporary fiction. Some brilliant flashes of humour over a few bits of submerged trauma in character backgrounds.
I enjoyed reading this, I wanted to know what happened to the story, the characters. The writing was refreshing - real people talking in real ways in situations you could imagine easily or identify with. The one thing that bugged me? I felt it needed another 3 or 4 chapters. It left me to decide what happened to the characters, how their stories ended. I’m not a fan of that! But I did enjoy the book.
