"Step lightly upon new bridges and old bridges alike." - Fae Proverb

Meira was not spoiled by any normal measure. Her position as the youngest Fae princess never afforded her the luxury of being immune to the consequences of her missteps. But after over ninety years of being sheltered from the world by her well-meaning but overbearing parents, the confines of her existence have begun to chafe...

Mardok is an elite bodyguard living in one of the many kingdoms of men. Until now, he has been content spending his days training with the other guard, laughing with the king who has been a brother to him for most of his life, foiling the occasional assisination plot, and hunting with his friends...

"Bakarrik has mourned for too long," the seer whispers into the fire. "The time has finally come to push things into motion. She will fight, she will lose, she will win, and she will grow. She needs an anchor to hold her to Lur. You will find it in Nord Pflaum."

I genuinely enjoyed this book! I'm a fantasy/romance lover, and this book was a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the YA/MA romantasies out there. The main characters are lovable, there isn't any toxicity (in romance or family) and the world building is pretty cool and unique! It was really fun to read about a fae and human world intermingling, and the human world low-key reminded me of sword in the stone, which I liked. Also, the fae in this story are good natured, which is a fun switch up from Cruel Prince type of fae.

I will say that I wish Mardok and Meira's romance was a bit more fleshed out in the beginning, but maybe it's just the writing style that doesn't really go into why they started to like one another/fall in love.

Overall, the story can be a bit slow paced at times, but it's fun to read the dynamic between the characters in dialogue. Definitely a comfort read! I look forward to reading the next book whenever it's due to come out.
