A heartwarming story about a lost Teddy and the magical person who returns him to his owner on a very special night.
Teddy is catapulted into a winter adventure when he's accidentally bumped off the window ledge he'd been sitting on guarding the house for Lily and Mum while they are out Christmas shopping. Snowboarding, skating, and making a snowman--Teddy experiences it all. But soon Teddy starts to feel wet...and cold...and very far from Lily.
Just when he's feeling most glum, a kind hand wearing a bright red glove bundles Teddy into a present-filled sled and delivers Teddy back to Lily with a twinkle and a glow. It's been a very special Christmas eve for Teddy!
Ian Archibald Beck (born 1947 in Brighton) is an English children's illustrator and author. In addition to his numerous children's books, he is also most famous for his cover illustration on Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album. He has sold more than a million copies of his books worldwide.
Look at that cover! Haha…That high flying bear says it all!
Teddy’s Snowy Day by Ian Beck may be a snow covered tale, but it will warm you from head to toe. The look on Teddy’s face alone makes me smile. Big, bold, wonderful read aloud words like—Whoosh! and Whoops! add even more smiles and energy to the reading fun and wonder. I had so much fun in the snow with Teddy!
A fall launches our cute, classic Teddy bear on a winter land adventure. But after a cold, blustery day of slipping, sliding, and sledding, home feels very far away. Will a surprise helping hand get Ted ho-ho-home in time for the holiday?
A warm, wonderful celebration of winter, friendship, and home.
Genre: Fiction Age: K - 6 Illustrations: I loved the pictures in this book they illustrated the bear well. Gist: This story is about a teddy bear who could not go outside to play so a little girl wrapped him up tight and put him on the ledge outside so he could watch. But her mom did not know the Teddy was out there and she shut the window knocking teddy off the ledge. Teddy went on many adventures including snowboarding, and ice skating, but when he went to go home he found out he was lost. Then there was a big thing in the sky and it took Teddy home where it was warm and safe. Curriculum Connections: You could talk about other fun snow activities. Warning: Teddy does go off by himself
"Teddy's Snow Day" is about a teddy bear who gets stuck outside and decides to play in the snow. He eventually gets rescued by santa and brought home. This would be a good book to read during the winter when it's supposed to snow. Have students then draw a picture of teddy bear and them playing in the snow.
Teddy falls out a window one snowy day and has a grand adventure outside before a nice man in a red suit helps him find his way home. This has been a good storytime pick for me. I've used it for Christmas storytime twice (though 3 years apart) and it went well both times. It's not revealed to be a "Christmas" book until the end - before that, it's just a fun day in the snow.
There are plenty of sounds to make and fun to share with Teddy. The activity and magic of Christmas make up for the so-so illustrations. Read our review at the Reading Tub.
This is a humorous tale of a teddy bear's adventure outside. The story is entertaining and the ending has a nice Christmas theme. The illustrations are colorful and cartoonish and complement the narrative nicely. We enjoyed reading this book together.
Teddy's Snow Day is a beautifully illustrated story about a teddy bear that gets out on a snow day and finds his way home at the end of the day. It covers topics of how to dress for cold weather, missing your friends and family and how good it feels to go home each night after a busy day.
