An oldie but a good read. Anna Lee is a tough lady but entering the music world to protect a top singer proves anything but easy.

This seemed pretty rollicking and fun as I was reading it, but the ending was upsetting and depressing, and maybe just too English for me.

A top-heavy pile of bagged debris blocked the entrance to the office. Bernie took a deep breath and sucked in his stomach as he sidled past it. But he was a bulky man and his thick winter coat became smeared with cement and mortar. Anna, skipping up stairs behind him, had no such trouble.
'I'll have to lose some weight,' Bernie said sadly as he banged the dust out of his coat. 'We should change places. You live with Syl for a month and let her feed you up. I'll take over your gaff and live off apples and tinned soup like you do. We'd both feel the benefit.'
'Starting when?' Anna asked eagerly.
They both laughed and turned towards the recroom to make coffee. Change was in the air. It hung like the dust. Martin Brierly had the builders in. A month ago Martin Brierly had bought the lease on the language school next door, and now a newly plastered gap in the wall linked the Brierly Security office with its mirror image on the other side.

Not a favourite

Slow, drawn out and a tedious read. I was disappointed with the storyline and characters. A miss with this one.

A reliably enjoyable Brit series. This one involves an up and coming rock star and the maelstrom that revolves around her.

Not always a big fan of "noir" or private eye books, this was decent.
