The 1970s classic of spirituality complete with photos and eighteen drawings of spiritual teachers corresponding to the eighteen sacrifices on this path. A book which has inspired many since its first publication.
The Joy of Sacrifice contains the letters written for the occasion in which Student looking in for particular help from the teacher. It is not just a letter but teaching from the dear heart of the master to pupils. Which later on describes each Sacrifice in very detail form of explanations. I would suggest to read this book Solo but it certainly makes whole lot difference of the work in the group. Symbols in the Preface description makes a whole another level of complement and add flavors to the book. Thank you EJ and IDHHB for putting the covered book format to show The Secrets of the Sufi Way.
Very good description of the "dark night" (imo), which EJ describes as "the corridor of madness" and the "eating of the psyche". It struck me as a source of comfort, seeing some of my "symptoms" (which would normally be pathologized by the likes of psychiatry) in it, and posited as normal stages in a long process of letting go of identities and "coming home" as it were.
It is nice to read - a poetic, alluding and imaginative kind of style, and in large print.
