This tiny little book contains about fifty of Curtis's photographs of ceremonial masks and attire, mostly photographed 1904-14. While I could do without Curtis's captions ("Her eyes are those of the fawn of the forest..."), the plates themselves are absolutely stunning.

I love this book. It's such a powerful little thing, full of mesmerizing and gorgeous photos of another time and place. The masks and costumes are incredible.
