The Watcher's Guild

Rate this book
Jophiel and Christine have an impossibly difficult mission to complete together—and a magnetism neither of them can deny.

It wasn’t supposed to happen like this.

As far as heavenly experiments go, mortals are interesting to observe from a distance, but their lives are fleeting. They’re selfish, impulsive, and determined to destroy each other, if not their entire planet.
It’s my job as a member of my angelic guild to monitor the celestial and mortal realms, keep the peace, and only interfere when absolutely necessary.

That’s how Christine Monarch, pro wrestler and descendant of Poseidon, came under my supervision. She has no idea about her heritage or the training she needs to do in order to fulfill her part of an ancient prophecy, and she’s wasting precious time she doesn’t have.

Angels don’t make friends with humans. They definitely don’t form attachments to them. Even ones as confounding, infuriating, and irresistible as Christine. It’s forbidden.

Why, then, is she destined to be my soul mate? And if I can’t convince myself of the truth, how am I going to make the choir of angels understand?

How am I supposed to win over Christine when I can barely remember what it’s like to be human?

The Watcher's Guild is the third book in a steamy contemporary portal fantasy romance where Poseidon’s descendant and her guardian angel must complete her training to restore balance to the universe… and accept they are fated mates.

In a whimsical corner of the universe that echoes the enchanting realms of Wonderland, Jaylee Austin weaves tales that dance between the ethereal and the imaginative. Enthralled by mythology from every dimension—be it the enchanting Celtic goddesses, the vast treks through the nine worlds of the Nordic realms, or the ancient whispers of the Sumerian gods—she crafts modern romantic worlds that shimmer with magical realism.

Her desk, a canvas of creativity, is often interrupted by the playful pounces of her two adorable companions, but none more so than Tilly, her clever pug. A true companion on her literary adventures, Tilly offers sage wisdom as they both ponder the mysterious questions that tug at the hearts of readers.

With a spirited background as a retired high school English and Theater teacher, Jaylee brought wit and warmth to the classroom, inspiring countless students to embrace their own creativity during National Writing Month. Through her enchanting stories, Jaylee invites readers to leap into alternate realities where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and every page is a step further down the rabbit hole.

I received a free copy of this book in order to write an honest review.

This was the third book in the series. I did not read the first books in the series and since there was no recap, I was lost right off the bat.

This story was written as if the author threw a bunch of cards with different story ideas in the air and picked them all. There was too much going on in the story to keep track of it all.

There were more typos than there should have been in the edition that I received. An editor or proofreader needs to take another pass at it to catch these.

I was not happy with this book on multiple levels. It needs work before I would recommend it to others.
