The Vision of His Glory: Finding Hope Through the Revelation of Jesus Christ

Rate this book
This wonderfully understandable explanation of the book of Revelation is surprisingly NOT end-times-ish. Focusing on how John's writing can affect our daily lives, Mrs. Lotz delves into the challenges we face every day and how focusing on God can make all the difference. Very hard to put down!

Books on Biblical prophecy often focus on the identity of the beast, the meaning of 666, the timing of future events, the meaning of the millennium, but can forget that the main point of the book is that the reader catch the Apostle John's passion for the vision of the glory of Christ. Christ is right there at the beginning of the book, speaks extensively in the letters to the seven churches, is the hero of the narrative, and, at the close of the book, declares His promise to return. Anne Graham Lotz's intent in writing this book is to direct the reader to John's intent, that we too would catch the vision of Christ's glory. While Lotz adopts a dispensational pre-mil, pre-trib understanding of prophecy, her focus is not so much on the details and precise order of events, but to help the reader focus on Christ, His work on the cross and in the resurrection, His judgement, and the hope of the new heaven and new earth when He returns. Filled with cross references to the rest of the Bible and peppered with historical/contemporary illustrations from her own life and those of others', Lotz seeks to make her treatment of Revelation practical--what does this passage teach me about Jesus and what are the implications from this passage for me? One criticism is that Scripture references outside Revelation are referenced in the endnotes, which inconvenience the reader. Four stars.

This is an excellent book that takes you through the book of Revelation in the Bible. The explanations of the imagery used makes reading the book understanding Revelation. My copy also included a 75 page devotional to work through too.

I will read pretty much anything by Anne. This was a novel approach to studying the Book of Revelation. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but it was very good.

Ann Graham Lotz not only teaches you the facts of biblical events but also the practical applications that allow you to personalize what you read and how to involve that in your daily living and relationship with God. I used this book and the teaching dvd, obtained separately, to supplement my Rev. bible study.

HOME! It is a synonymous with love, acceptance, comfort, and security. It is a place where my needs are met. It is a place where I can take my burdens and lay them down. It is a place not only when I can find answers but where my questions no longer seem to matter.

My candle is soon to go out, but he sun is rising. And who needs a candle when you have the Son?
