Where is Ollie? Gossie, Gertie, BooBoo, and Peedie are all looking for him. Is he in the barn? Is he under the hens? Is he among the apples? Where could Ollie be? Children will enjoy the touch-and-feel, pull tabs, flaps, and other interactive elements as the goslings search high and low for Ollie. Then it’s their turn to team up with the goslings using the fold-out game board in the back!
Since his debut in 1983, author and illustrator Olivier Dunrea has created a steady stream of picture books, including concept books, stories of family life—modern and ancient—and stories about artists. Many of Dunrea's picture books testify to his love of animals and his interest in archaeology and folklore of the British Isles, and several—including Ravena, The Trow-Wife's Treasure, and Bear Noel—take place in a similar land of Dunrea's own creation: the mythic island of Moel Eyris. "I don't write books or make pictures for children," Dunrea once told Something About the Author (SATA). "I make them for myself. It just so happens that children like what I do as much as I do!"
Een boek in de stijl van Gonnie met flapjes, schuifjes, voelelementen, een spelletje, en zelfs een plekje dat lekkere bloemengeur afgeeft als je erover wrijft. Leuk voor peuters.
Man, I am so angry at this book right now! OK, so it's not the book's fault that Little Destructomenace ripped it cheerfully to shreds last night instead of going to sleep, but I'm still ticked because I want to buy a new copy and I probably shouldn't. Destructomenace will just dismantle the new one. You should not think the book is flimsy. Oh, no. It survived rough use by a two-year-old for more than three months before she decided to methodically take it apart. She just does that sometimes. If she can get a finger-hold, she'll lever it right open.
That's why I'm going to stick to the regular board books for my gosling fix. We really do like Dunrea's goslings, and we recommend them.
Such an excellent little hide-and-seek semi-pop-up book - not too fragile, with lots of slidy flat window-y things, a couple of flaps, a squeaky, and even a scratch 'n' sniff. It's all about prepositions as Gossie the goose looks for all her goslings - in, under, through, on, etc. Olivier Dunrea draws with a light touch and a delicacy that makes these little goslings extremely endearing.
