Chaz Bowyer has written many good to very good books about aircraft, aviation and aviation related subjects. This book, helas, I consider to be a very minor title by his hand, even though it was published three times and each time with a different cover, but the same mediocre content. This is no doubt caused by the fact that it needed to be confined to the same format and content as the rest of this mediocre series (sometimes given as 'Warplanes in Colour'). There are far more books on the Spitfire -more than hundred that I know of-, some offer much more information and go into far deeper levels of that information too. Few of those books offer less though -even at the same price.
Great to read this to coincide with the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. An authoritative book on all makes and models of spitfire aircraft. Good coverage of each theater of operations too. Dated a bit (published 1980).
